Meisho Movie Realization The Mandalorian Exclusive Gallery

Posted on April 23, 2021 at 5:32 pm by Tony_Bacala under Random Photo Shoot, Star Wars Toy News

Meisho Mandalorian 41

Quick drop for a Friday afternoon – the recently released Meisho Movie Realization Mandalorian!  This is the Premium Bandai version, which features Mando in his early gear, pre-beskar upgrades.  It’s heavily based on the previous Mandalorian armor figures – Boba Fett and Jango Fett.  This is Movie Realization though – so it’s a remix of feudal Japan armor, a touch of steampunk and then Star Wars all in one.  Alternate take on the characters, not canon.  But cool.  The Mandalorian armor was my favorite of the bunch, and this adds to the roster.

He comes packed with a pistol, rifle, and short sword with sheath.  Multiple hand sets are included.  The cape is soft goods, allowing for some different ways of presenting the rifle on the back, first of the line.  Each area looks to have started with the Boba Fett base, and has been altered with new sculpting and panels as needed to properly Mando it up.  The helmet sculpt is new front to back.

All in all it’s another great piece, quality offering that looks great on shelf.  I have them all here, and always look forward to more.  Hopefully we get the ones already shown (Ackbar and IG-88)  and a Beskar Mando with some remix of Grogu soon!  Read on to check out our gallery for The Meshio Mandalorian after the break!

Star Wars Movie Realization ST Gallery – Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and First Order Trooper

Posted on February 4, 2020 at 3:40 pm by Tony_Bacala under Random Photo Shoot, Star Wars Toy News

Realization x Kylo Ren 22

Star Wars Movie Realization figures from Tamashii Nations have been a great laser focused line. It’s an alternate universe where ancient Japanese feudal warriors mix with Star Wars characters to produce some of the most unique figures on my shelves. They started with the original trilogy, moved on to the prequels with Jango and Maul, and now they’ve touched the sequels with Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma, and the First Order trooper.

In my primary Star Wars pick ups, I’ve narrowed down to an OT focus, but here all bets are off. This is so out there that it doesn’t matter which trilogy they come from, so long as they look cool, and they do. Kylo can hang out with Maul and Vader no problem. Troopers can mix up, Mandolorians can chill, it’s all good. These three are all well executed in plastic, paint, engineering and sculpt. Only Boba and Maul surpass them IMO. Phasma is a real treat in hand as well, the silver really pops as weathered metal.

Check out our gallery after the break courtesy of Bluefin Brands! All three of these are out now in Japan and the States, so hit your favorite retailer to pick them up!

Star Wars Movie Realization C-3PO Gallery

Posted on May 10, 2019 at 9:59 am by Tony_Bacala under Random Photo Shoot, Star Wars Toy News

Time for a little catch up today with a look at the recently released Star Wars Movie Realization C-3PO figure from Bandai Tamashii Nations.  This is the first Rebel / Good Guy in the Samurai inspired line up.  He’s using two Japanese themes – Honyaku and Karakuri.  Honyaku meaning a translator, and Karakuri was the ancient term loosely meaning robot, think marionette doll style.  He comes packed with alternate hands and a fan with the Rebel Alliance insignia.

We’ve run him through a quick session read on to check out over 30 HD shots.  Don’t forget, this guy and other Realization figures, along with many Bandai Star Wars model kits are still on sale for Bluefin’s Star Wars Day sale, which you can check out here.

If you are interested in the model kits, you can enter below to win a Millennium Falcon, X-Wing, and Y-Wing Combo Pack, about 14 hours left!

Tamashii Nations Movie Realization Celebration 2019 Display – HD Pics of Our Shots!

Posted on April 13, 2019 at 11:22 am by Tony_Bacala under Convention News, Star Wars Toy News

Star Wars Celebration is in full swing and many of the companies we love to collect are there.  Bandai / Bluefin / Tamashii Nations is among them and they have a display of action figure photography featuring their Star Wars Movie Realization line.  This is the line where Japanese Feudal Warriors like Samurai are merged with Star Wars lore for a completely unique alternate universe range of figures.

I was fortunate enough to be asked to contribute to this display again, I did so back in 2017 as well.  I wanted to share the full resolution version of the pictures shown on display (4 of them), along with another 35 or so from the same sessions that produced the ones actually printed and out at the show.  I like to shoot fast with lots of repetition, slight angle and lighting changes, then pick the best at the end.   Sometimes it’s hard and you get a ton of unused but still cool shots.  So at least they’ll have a home on the web now!

Read on to check them out, and make sure to stop by the Tamashii Nations booth at Star Wars Celebration 2019 this weekend if you are at the show!

Star Wars Movie Realization Kanreichiashigaru Snowtrooper Gallery

Posted on October 30, 2018 at 5:00 pm by Tony_Bacala under Random Photo Shoot, Star Wars Toy News

Bandai Tamashii Nations is back with the next Star Wars Movie Realization release, the Kanreichiashigaru Snowtrooper. This is another in their line up of classic Japanese warrior classes merging with the Star Wars universe into pure bad ass figures. At the bulky end of the 7 inch scale, they feature a wide range of articulation, super intricate sculpts and fantastic paint details, even on a pure white figure such as this. No part is left untouched. He comes packed with a sword, sheath, an extra set of hands, backpack and steampunk-esque version of the E-Web cannon, complete with tripod. You can even remove his protective hood to reveal an ornate helmet design underneath (which I thought was super cool)!

This is another great entry to the line, made up of all Empire bad guys at the moment, and the first in the Snowtrooper variant. He’s out now in Japan and should be hitting the States soon! Read on to check out our pics of him after the break courtesy of Bluefin / Tamashii Nations!

Marvel Manga Realization Deadpool Photo Shoot

Posted on September 12, 2018 at 4:09 pm by Tony_Bacala under Marvel Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Another entry to the Marvel Manga Realization line has dropped; Deadpool now joins the alt-verse Samurai ranks!  The Meisho Realization line from Tamashii Nations takes known western properties and remixes them with Feudal Japanese warriors.  They’ve done it for Star Wars and Marvel so far.  On the Marvel front, we have Spider-Man, Iron Man, War Machine and Captain America to go along with the Merc with a Mouth.  His Meisho look is inspired by the Kabukimono or “The Strange Ones” who dressed flamboyantly and did crazy S#!^.  Sounds perfect to me.

We’ve run Deadpool through the motions, check out over 30 HD shots after the break courtesy of Tamashii Nations and Bluefin Brands!  He’s out now at Japanese and US retailers.

Yariashigaru Stormtrooper Star Wars Movie Realization Gallery

Posted on June 7, 2018 at 4:42 pm by Tony_Bacala under Random Photo Shoot, Star Wars Toy News

Time for another Realization gallery from the folks at Tamashii Nations.  This round we get the Star Wars Movie Realization Yariashigaru Stormtrooper. AKA – the spear one. :).  There are a lot of Stormtrooper variants, and this one gives us a spear weapon as it’s primary focus, along with a back mounted Empire flag.  His plating features the Empire cog on the chest similar to the Royal Guards and Archer versions previously released.

The paint is a little sharper on this one compared to the original stormtrooper, less yellow washing and more of a mix between gold and black  The helmet gets great depth from that.  As with the previous Realization figures, articulation is great but a little limited in range due to the plated armor.  Still a great amount for such a big bulky figure though, most poses are easily obtained.  Construction, build quality and balance are all on point.  Feels good in the hand and looks sharp on the shelf.

For those casually following or new to the Realization line, below is a list of what’s out or coming as of today, with links to the one’s we’ve covered.

Samuraidaisho Darth Vader
Ashigaru Stormtrooper
Ronin Boba Fett
Samuraidaisho Darth Vader (Death Star Armor)
Gun Ashigaru Sandtrooper
Royal Guard
Taikoyaku Stormtrooper
Teppo Ashigaru Sandtrooper (Black Pauldron SDCC Variant)
Yumiashigaru Stormtrooper
Ronin Boba Fett (White Prototype Armor SDCC Variant)
Ronin Jango Fett
Sohei Darth Maul
Ashigaru Stormtrooper (Shadow Armor)
Yariashigaru Stormtrooper (This Post)
Kanreichi Ashigaru Snowtrooper (October 2018)

With all that said, it’s a great alternative take on a Star Wars display and always gets an “oooh” from casual friends that see them when they stop by.  There are a lot more coming, including ones based on the modern trilogies.

Read on to check out over 40 HD images of the Yariashigaru Stormtrooper after the break!

Marvel Manga Realization War Machine Gallery

Posted on May 4, 2018 at 8:56 pm by Tony_Bacala under Marvel Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Tamashii Nations Realization line takes classic characters and gives them a unique take on Japanese Warrior armor.  Samurais are what we think of on first glance, but they pull from the rich history of different fighters in Japan.   The result gives us a funky steampunk-esque look that doesn’t quite fit with movie/comic accurate figures, but is just bad-ass by itself.  They are doing it for both Marvel and Star Wars at the moment, and today’s shoot features the latest release for Marvel – War Machine.   He has similarities to the previously released Iron Man, but there are some slight changes to the armor in various places.  He also gets gun based upgrades to the back pack which mimic his shoulder mounted canons in traditional designs.  The figure is donned in bronze and blue.  Now, I did some searching and couldn’t find War Machine ever referenced in those colors.  If I am wrong and this has a connection, someone please let me know.  Otherwise, it’s just a color pattern they chose so that he wasn’t full on black/grey.  It’s a sharp set of colors and it looks cool, just not sure how it’s connected to War Machine.  Overall it’s another solid entry to the Marvel line up and helps fill out the roster.

Read on to check out over 40 HD images showing off his goods.  He’s out now in Japan and should be at US retailers soon!

Marvel Manga Realization Captain America Detailed Images

Posted on March 3, 2018 at 6:05 pm by Tony_Bacala under Marvel Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Tamashii Nations Manga Realization is the Marvel companion line to the Star Wars Movie Realization line where characters are re-imagined with Feudal Japanese themes. Samurai are the primary focus, but other warriors from that era get utilized. Spider-Man and Iron Man have dropped already (see our Iron Man and SW shoots here). Deadpool and War Machine are coming. Today we are taking a look at Captain America. As with all Realization figures, it’s a big 7 inch scale, bulky in nature, and features stellar paint and detail. High quality paint, tons of layering and weathering, fine highlights on molded parts. The sculpt pays attention to detail with elements from the original character like stars on the hands and feet, the wings on the helmet, the feather plating on the armor. The shield mixes Cap’s logo with Samurai form. His chest star even detaches and becomes a throwing star. The Marvel versions may not work as well as the Star Wars ones, but they are still excellent pieces that add some differentiation to a collection. Read on to check out over 30 HD images showing what cap can do!

Sohei Darth Maul – Star Wars Movie Realization Photo Shoot

Posted on December 28, 2017 at 11:46 am by Tony_Bacala under Random Photo Shoot, Star Wars Toy News

2017 may almost be over, but we still have a couple galleries left!  Today we are taking a look at Bandai Tamashii Nations Star Wars Movie Realization Sohei Darth Maul.  Maul continues the Japanese warrior theme of the line with inspiration coming from the Sohei, or Buddhist warrior monks.  Key features of their unique armor are present here including the shoulder armor, layered clothing and belt. Maul’s dual lightsaber gets re-imagined as a curved blade similar to a Sohei naginata weapon. He keeps his Star Wars Dathomirian Zabrak head with some stylistic changes, and comes with a removable Oni-style demon mask. Capping off the look are oversized prayer beads similar to Akuma in Street Fighter.

Overall it’s another impressive piece from the Realization crew, merging modern myths with classic Japanese style.   With a full range of articulation and multiple hands, this 7 inch scale figure is a stand out on any Star Wars shelf.  He also fills out the Realization line with some new looks, being the first one that can go unmasked.  He’s out now in Japan, and will be available in the States in January. Read on to check out over 40 HD images of him in action!
