Mythic Legions Arethyr and Aethon Set plus the 4H 1/12 Articulated Horse – Toyark Photo Shoot

Posted on May 21, 2021 at 4:50 pm by Tony_Bacala under General Toy News

Mythic Legions Arethyr Aethon Set 68

Quick set for a recent Four Horsemen Mythic Legions release!  We are taking a look at The Mythic Legions Arethyr and Aethon 2 Pack, along with the 1/12 articulated horse Balius.  All of these recently started shipping from Four Horsemen direct, and are working their way out to other retailers now.  I’ve been grabbing random Mythic Legions over the last couple years and really dig their demon style dudes.  Arethyr is the most demony so far, and he now has a gangster steed to roll with, Aethon.  This, along with the standard 1/12 horse Balius are 4H’s first foray into articulated horses.  I’d expect more styles to come for sure.

Read on to check out some quick additional thoughts and look at the our shots for them.  If you find one in the wild for a reasonable price, worth the pick up!

Mythic Legions Wasteland Gallery – Purrrplor, Kronnaw, Cassia and Cowarross Too

Posted on February 12, 2020 at 4:47 pm by Tony_Bacala under General Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Mythic Legions Wasteland Figures

Time for another round of random Mythic Legions galleries! Today we are taking a look at several from the recent Wasteland wave, Purrrplor, Kronnaw and Cassia plus one from further back – Cowarross. All except Cassia are homage figures referencing characters from Masters of the Universe – a line that The Four Horsemen have been working on for years for Mattel and Super 7. Purrplor takes Panthor, Cowarross takes Battle Cat and turns them into humanoid cats Thundercats style. Kronnaw is a Trap Jaw homage using a warrior body with a skull head, in classic Trap Jaw colors.

Cassia is just a female warrior from the Mythic Legions lore that I wanted to build out small ranks of cool figures here. She comes with a fur cape that is boss and pairs well with Templar or other warriors from the line.

I’ve been grabbing random pieces from each new wave, ignoring actual backstory just to have a cool set of 1/12 scale figures repping on the shelves. The MOTU homages are what caught my eye initially but the line up has grown here without getting crazy. It’s a fun run every couple months without the need for OCD level completionist goals. For me anyway. :)

Check out our set for these four after the break! You can grab some of the next wave of figures now via pre-order over on Store-Horsemen.com.

Mythic Legions Siege at Bjorngar – Kkurzog & Bolthor the Tower Gallery

Posted on November 13, 2019 at 4:17 pm by Tony_Bacala under General Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Siege at Bjorngarr 1

Mythic Legions by the Four Horsemen continue dropping new figures and expanding the line that started back in 2015.  It’s fantasy based theme works well with fans of LOTR, Dungeons and Dragons, World of Warcraft and the like.  At the 1/12 scale, they have a wide range of mythical creatures and human warriors to pick from.  I’ve said before, Fantasy style figs aren’t normally my thing, but as I’ve grown into 1/12 as my primary collection scale, these figures were too well done not to jump on.  So, I’ve been grabbing random select figures from each new wave they offer.  The latest wave to drop was titled Siege at Bjorngar and featured:

  • Kkurzog – (Ogre)
  • Bolthor the Tower – (Half Giant Barbarian)
  • Ogre Legion Builder – (Ogre Troop Builder)
  • Faustia – (Female Cleric)
  • Thwikk – (Goblin Archer)

It was a smaller wave, but the key here was a new size class that featured the first Giant and first Ogre. They are humanoid in style, one a Giant which is basically a really big human, and one is an Ogre.  I grabbed Kkurzog, a specific character Ogre, and Bolthor the Tower, also a specific character in their lore.  They also offered a generic Ogre troop builder but he is not featured here today.   Read on to check out over 50 pics of the two to show how they stack up with other figs, in the line and across brands!

Make sure to keep an eye on SourceHorsemen.com as well, they plan to relaunch soon with new features and info!

Mythic Legions Advent of Decay and All Stars 2.0 – Random Photo Shoot!

Posted on April 26, 2019 at 11:49 am by Tony_Bacala under General Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

A while back I decided to start picking up random Mythic Legions figures as they offer them for pre-order since I missed out on the earlier runs.  I’ve faded into being primarily a 1/12 ish scale collector in that time and even though the fantasy angle isn’t my favorite, the ML figs are super well done.  So, without any rhyme or reason, I am just grabbing a couple from each wave with no logic at all, whatever strikes me.

Enter Mythic Legions All Stars 2.0 and Advent of Decay – these two waves recently shipped.  There were a lot to choose from, but I wound up grabbing Vorgus Vermillius, Skeleton Legion Builder, Templar Legion Builder, Xarria, and a glow in the dark Hagnon.  These add to my Keltuss and Adamonn pick ups from before.  I’ve run them through a quick shoot, not to document them front to back but rather have some fun and show what they can do.  Read on and check them out after the break!

The next wave of Mythic Legion figures are up for pre-order today at StoreHorsemen.com, check it out and tag in if you dig em!

Mythic Legions Adamonn and Keltuss Photo Review

Posted on May 20, 2018 at 8:23 pm by Tony_Bacala under General Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Mythic Legions is the house brand line of figures produced by legendary design team the Four Horsemen.  4H has sculpted Masters of the Universe Classics, DC Universe Classics and many many more throughout the years.  Mythic Legions is in the same style, with a bit more focus on detail, paint and all the other stuff collectors yearn for.   They’re 6 inch scale, similar in size and heft to MOTUC (though not exact 1 to 1).   The theme of the line is fantasy, with Warriors, Orcs, Dwarfs, Trolls, Skeletons and more.  Think – original Lord of the Rings style universe.

I’ve been eyeing them up, even back to their GOTHITROPOLIS line.  As I’ve grown in what and how I collect over the last ten years, beyond Transformers and G.I. Joe, the 6 inch scale has really hit the sweet spot.  And these are really well done, high end 6 inch figures.  I missed out on a lot of their first waves, but I pulled the trigger on some pre-orders earlier this year and as I wait for those, these two we are looking at today became available via their store for a brief moment.  Luckily I was able to score!

So, without further delay, read on to check out an in depth photo gallery of Mythic Legions Adamonn and Keltuss. They are He-Man and Skeletor tribute figures (unofficially), capturing the tones and style of the originals in the Mythic Legions look.  Both are excellent figures in their own right with weapons and alternate heads that can work regardless of their tributary status.  Check out over 125 HD images after the break!
