Another round of DC Multiverse figures to take a look at today! McFarlane hasn’t been doing traditional waves with 6 or 8 figures per case, so this is just a mix match of random recent releases. Some have worked their way out to retail, some are about to hit. Included inside are Rebirth Batman, The Next Batman (Jace Fox), Dark Detective Batman, Zur-En-Arrh Batman, Infinite Frontier Robin, Solar Suit Superman, Rebirth Zod, Death of the Family Joker, and McFarlane Design Wonder Woman (Gold Label). Some come courtesy of McFarlane Toys (thanks) and I picked up a couple at retail myself.

Todd McFarlane has brought back Spawn in a big way over the last couple years. The road to 300 expanded the mythos as he broke the independent creator record for longest running book. The year of Spawn took that and expanded it into several new books. There was a Kickstarter which broke records and brought Spawn into the modern age of toys. And now we are on wave 2 of a running Spawn action figure line, with Wave 3 already in the works. Today we are taking a look at some of wave 2 – She-Spawn, Soul Crusher, and Cy-Gor further expand the Spawn Universe line up with solid entries. A variant of Wave 1’s Violator Megafig with a bit of blood is also inside. Wave 2 also featured a repaint of Redeemer as Dark Redeemer, and a mass-release of Gunslinger Spawn with new accessories. Those are not featured here.

The in-person Toy Fair 2022 event is not taking place this year. But that doesn’t mean there are new toys to reveal. We’ve teamed up with our friends at NECA to exclusively reveal three new figures from the Defenders of the Earth toy line! Previously, NECA has released figures based on Flash Gordon, The Phantom, and Ming The Merciless from the 1990’s cartoon series. The figures have been a huge hit with fans of the characters, but we all know that there are a lot of great designs from the show that everyone has been looking forward to.
Today we have new look at a two previously revealed figures, and an all-new figure for you to check out. All three of these items have been highly anticipated by fans. Kicking off, we have a new look at the Lothar 7″ Scale Figure. We’ve seen Lothar in a few previews since last year, but we have a look at the finalized figure, his art, and accessories. Lothar includes swap out hands, a blaster, a grappling hook, and two firing effects pieces. Next up, we have a look at the upcoming Mandrake The Magician 7″ Scale Figure. Like Lothar, Mandrake was previously announced, and we’ve had a few glimpses of him before. But today we have a look at the (near) finalized Mandrake, including his art. The figure includes swap out hands, a magic wand, a grappling hook, and two firing effects pieces. For the all-new reveal, we have a preview of the upcoming Garax 7″ Scale Figure! In the cartoon, Garax is in charge of the Ice Robots, the cannon fodder mechanical soldiers that would take on the Defenders of the Earth. The upcoming toy looks to be based specifically on his cartoon appearance.
To go along with the reveal, we were also given a chance to speak to Randy Falk, head of product development at NECA Toys. You can read our interview and see the new photos and a video after the jump.
The Batman is right around the corner, dropping in a little over 2 weeks from now on March 4th. McFarlane Toys are doing figures based on the movie and they are working their way out to retail now. Wave 1 consists of Batman, masked Catwoman and The Riddler. There are also two bikes – one for Bruce Wayne and a Batcycle for Batman proper. Wave 2+ consists of The Penguin, unmasked Catwoman, unmasked Batman, Drifter Bruce Wayne, and then a Target exclusive unmasked Drifter Bruce Wayne. We have some of this in hand today and are taking a look. Some come courtesy of McFarlane Toys (thanks!), and some we grabbed at retail. I’m calling in Veronica… Avengers Age of Ultron may not top the Avengers movies in terms of fan favorites, but it did introduce one of the best Iron Man armors of them all – the Mark XLIV aka the Hulkbuster. It’s presence and the fight with Hulk were one of the best MCU moments for me. As such, I’ve grabbed versions of it as much as I could over the years. Today marks an official upgrade on my shelf with the arrival of threezero’s DLX Hulkbuster. It’s part of their DLX line of figures, which take their awesome detail, paint and tech from the larger pieces and shrink it down to about 1/12 scale. It pairs well with their standard XLIII figure (see our gallery here), which actually fits inside this one! This is due to ship in Q1 2022 – and threezero was kind enough to send through a copy a bit early for us to check out. Read on for some additional thoughts and over 80 HD images!
Introduced in 1932, The Mummy was the third major release in what has become the Universal Monsters collection. This year marks the films 90th anniversary. Boris Karloff, fresh off his star making role as Frankenstein’s Monster, stars as the Egyptian Mummy Imhotep. In the film, Imhotep is an ancient Egyptian prince who was buried alive for sacrilege. His to,b is uncovered in 1921, along with the Scroll of Thoth, which is used to accidentally bring Imhotep back to life. Years later, Imhotep searches Cairo for the woman he believes is the reincarnation of his long lost love.
NECA‘s latest release in their Universal Monsters line is The Mummy Ultimate 7″ Scale Figure (Color Version), which is based on the mummified version of Imhotep that is uncovered in his tomb. The Mummy figure is now hitting toy stores, with multiple reports popping up online last week if fans finding the figure. Online retailers should be getting their shipments very soon. The Mummy includes three portraits, interchangeable hands, bandages, an Egyptian chest, and a Scroll of Thoth. Our friends at NECA have sent over the figure, and you can see my photos and thoughts on the figure after the jump.

Underverse is the new home of artist Ashley Wood after 3A divided into two back in 2019. Licensed stuff went with ThreeZero, and the Ashley Wood properties went with Underverse. Things are picking back up with some old faithful items – 1/6th scale World War Robot figures, including today’s NOM Hinkon Tracker. For those that need a refresher on World War Robot:
via 3AFans – World War Robot (WWR) is a graphic novel illustrated by artist Ashley Wood and written by both Ashley Wood and TP Louise. The [art] book combines an unconventional use of pairing painted images and essays to tell small parts of a larger story. The prose include excerpts from various diaries, journals and transcripts based around the humans involved in a fictional war in the 1980-1990s known as the Great War.
3A, and now Underverse, have served that story for a while releasing high end product with faithful representation to the lore. Post-apocalyptic themed humans in crazy military gear and non conventional robots, it’s a unique world that stands on it’s own.
The NOMs are the first two “traditional” returns to the WWR lore. NOM Hinkon featured here has a brown jacket and white helmet, and Nomad NOM which released around the same time is darker all around. Both also have other subtle differences throughout.
Read on to check out our shots of the 1/6th scale figure in hand, along with some additional thoughts courtesy of Underverse!
Make sure to check out Underverse.com to keep up on all that’s coming out, including their new Pocket Universe line which has all the goodness here but in 1/18th scale!
