z MOTU Origins General Pre Orders

Pre-orders have gone live for the general release of the Masters of the Universe Origins Figures from Mattel! Previously, the figures were exclusive to Walmart, though they had popped up early in a few Target’s.  The 5.5″ scale figures take the classic look of Masters of the Universe figures from the 1980’s, and update them with new articulation, sculpts, and accessories. The first wave is due for release later this month. Included are:

Mattel has revealed the first product drop for Mattel Creations. The 75 Years of Art of Engineering Series features crystal clear releases of a few iconic Mattel items, allowing you to see what goes into the creation of a collectible. Included are:

Masters of the Universe Origins Skeletor – $50
We take our action figures seriously. With the Art of Engineering Skeletor® figure, we kept the evil and ditched the purple so you can see what makes the Overlord of Evil tick.

Barbie – $75
She’s known and loved for her fashion, but even in a bathing suit her silhouette is iconic. With the Art of Engineering Barbie doll, we went back to her original design from 1959 and sculpted her iconic ponytail, side-eye, and classic swimwear. The result is unmistakable and timeless.

Hot Wheels Bone Shaker – $75

MOTU Origins Castle Grayskull 001

Pre-orders were officially opened at 9:00 AM EST via Walmart.com for a new Masters of the Universe Origins – Castle Grayskull Play Set from Mattel. As of 9:01 AM, the Castle Grayskull was already sold out. Like the original, Castle Grayskull folds open to reveal a full interior playset. It stands over 18″ tall, and over 26″ wide when opened. Castle Grayskull fits the 5.5″ tall MOTU Origins figures, and includes a flag, a cannon, a weapons rack, and more. A special edition Sorceress figure is also included.

Castle Grayskull is priced at $74.97. It is set for release in Spring 2021. Check out more info and photos after the jump.

MOTU Masterverse Origins

Power-Con 2020 took place this weekend and their last panel had some pretty cool stuff in it.  Lots of new Masters of the Universe Origins were shown.  In addition, a return to the 7 Inch collector scale is coming in the all new Masterverse line.  The packaging showed the tag line “The Evolution of He-Man” and the Revelation logo from the new Netflix series.  Only silhouettes of very modern looking figures were shown. MOTU Origins Wave 2

Pre-orders are live via Walmart.com for some upcoming Masters of the Universe Origins Figures. These are set for release Friday, October 9th. The figures are priced at $14.99 each. The figures (except for Orko) stand at 5.5″ tall, and have about 16 points of articulation. Included are:

MOTU Origins Splash

Masters of the Universe is back on retail shelves with the new line from Mattel titled Masters of the Universe Origins (MOTUO).  The line debuted last year at SDCC with a launch 2 pack featuring He-Man and Prince Adam in a sweet box (see our gallery here).  Now the first round are hitting Wal-Marts exclusively with the intent to release via more retailers next year.

The Origins line over all is a re-imagining of vintage He-Man figures with updated articulation and paint.  Each now get removable hands, joints in the elbows and knees, swivels at the boots, neck and ankle articulation. All while keeping the basic form factor from the original toys.  Packaging is also a vintage throwback.  The basic bodies and gear are also used on the MOTWWEU cross over figures.

We have a batch of the first round in hand.  He-Man, Skeletor, Battle Cat, Prince Adam and the Sky Sled are all available after the break.  We also got our hands on the Eternia Minis, which are blind box style figures in  a plastic Castle Grayskull shell.  These are even smaller versions of the MOTU minis from 2013(ish), (see our gallery for the SDCC set here).  Read on to check it all out courtesy of Mattel!

MOTU Origins Fan Vote 2

On the official Masters of the Universe Instagram Page, Mattel has created a fan vote for an upcoming Masters of the Universe Origins Figure. There will be three head-to-head battles. The available characters are Wun-Dar, Keldor, Anti-Eternia Man-At-Arms, and Tri-Klops.

Round 1 features Keldor vs Anti-Eternia Man-At-Arms. You can cast your vote on their Instagram page.

Mattel MOTU Origins Figures

Official photos have begun popping up on European stores for the upcoming Masters of the Universe Origins 5.5″ Tall Figures. I spotted the pics from Lulu-Berlu, where they list the figures for a September release. Most of the images are high resolution, though a few are still lower quality. The images also give us an official look at much of the packaging, which pays tribute to the original figure packaging from the 80’s. Included are:

Power Con Exclusive Lords of Power

Over the weekend, the organizers of Power-Con made the tough call to cancel their 2020 show, and schedule a new show for 2021. For now, Power-Con 2021 will take place between September 11 & 12, 2021 at the Hilton Anaheim in Anaheim, California. With the show no longer taking place, the exclusives from the event have been made available to the general public. Those exclusives include Masters of the Universe – Lords of Power Five Figure Pack, and the She-Ra: Princess of Power – She-Ra Figure. Details on the figures can be found below.

Exclusive #1: MOTU Origins “Lords of Power” 5-Pack – $200.00 each
This 5-pack of He-Man, Man-At-Arms, Skeletor, Beast Man, and Mer-Man recreates the prototype sculpts shown in the original promotional materials as highly articulated Masters of the Universe: Origins figures. This set comes housed in a premium, coffret-style collector case in the style of the original Masters of the Universe carrying cases, optimized for display with all-new, custom artwork and illustrations. Final product subject to change.

Exclusive #2: MOTU Origins She-Ra – $40.00 each
This 35th Anniversary Edition figure captures the retro look of the original toy, and features modern articulation for enhanced play and posability. The convention-exclusive packaging comes nestled inside a removable blister and unfolds to reveal multiple panels of custom artwork, as well as an exclusive comic that re-imagines She-Ra’s origin story. Final product subject to change.
