McFarlane Toys is making some major adjustments for 2019. While The Walking Dead line is, at the very least, on hiatus (if not outright over), McFarlane has been busy snatching up major licenses. It looks like Warner Bros. is going to be their go-to studio. They kicked it off with a teaser for Harry Potter, then dropped the biggest pre-Toy Fair 2019 news with the acquisition of a DC Comics license. Now, it looks like they’re adding another WB property in Mortal Kombat! They dropped a new teaser with the blood covered classic looking “Finish Him”.
With Storm Collectibles looking to run deep into the classic Mortal Kombat series, could we be seeing Mortal Kombat 11 figures from McFarlane? Or will they take on the entire franchise? We should find out more this weekend at Toy Fair 2019.

In a very surprising reveal, IGN has shared news that McFarlane Toys will produce DC Comics figures! The licensing agreement begins in 2020, and is a three year agreement. This license gives McFarlane access to produce figures based on the comics, movies, and video games. According to their report, the license will allow McFarlane Toys to produce 6″ scale to 12″ scale “ultra-poseable” action figures, and also includes vehicles and accessories. Sadly, it doesn’t sound like any DC product from McFarlane will be on display at Toy Fair this coming weekend.
With this announcement of multiple companies having a DC license, it is becoming clearer on how the DC toy will be handled starting next year. Spin Masters was granted their own license (also a three year agreement) for DC Comics toys. Fans had wondered how they were going to approach collector level figures, and now it seems that Spin Master won’t necessarily have to. With McFarlane producing collector figures, Spin Master can focus on more kid-oriented releases. But, their actual plans remain to be seen.
McFarlane Toys has sent over a press release. Some more details were revealed and fans will want to check it out. You can read it after the jump.
In a second article at IGN, a few additional details were revealed. I’ve summarized soem of the key details after the press release.
In a new Facebook post, McFarlane Toys teases a potential Harry Potter or even a Fantastic Beasts license. The image shows a Quidditch Golden Snitch, so it would be a surprise if it was pointing to anything else. It’s likely we’ll see the first prototypes on display at Toy Fair 2019 this coming weekend.
It has been confirmed that McFarlane Toys has gotten a license for the entire Harry Potter franchsie, include the new Fantastic Beasts film. ComicBook.com reports that the first wave of figures will include “Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Voldemort”, with a price point of $25 each. The main figures will be 6″ scale, while the monsters and creatures will be roughly in the 12″ range. The first figures will be shown at Toy Fair 2019.

It seems McFarlane Toys has confirmed that they are currently done with The Walking Dead toy line, at least for now. In a response to a fan question asking about the line on Facebook, McFarlane Toys responded with this:
It has been some time since we’ve seen new Walking Dead figures. The last few 7″ scale solicits were quietly cancelled last year. It looks like they still hold the license, as their banner image with all of their current licenses still shows The Walking Dead logo.
A new teaser image has been shared by McFarlane Toys. The image shows a cracked spear head weapon, with McFarlane teasing a new brand. The weapon is the same one used by the lead character in the video game Hollow Knight. The game, which is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, is a classic Metroidvania style side scrolling adventure game. I’ve attached some art from the game as well as the preview from McFarlane Toys. We’ll update with more info as it becomes available.
