Masters of the WWE Universe Wave 3 In-Hand Gallery

Posted on June 25, 2020 at 3:23 pm by Tony_Bacala under Masters Of The Universe Toy News, Random Photo Shoot, Wrestling Toy News

motwweu wave 3

Mattel is back with another round of Masters of the Universe / WWE crossover action!  Wave 3 of MOTWWEU features 4 more figures adding to the ranks.  The Rock has no specific crossover, but features electric effects for the wrist, championship belt, He-Man-esque chest armor and a Man At Arms style club.  Braun Strowman is a Beast Man homage, featuring his chest and shoulder armor along with some Terror Claws that have been used several times so far. The New Day is a Man-E-Faces homage, featuring a spinning head sculpt with 3 dead on likenesses to all members of the team.  The helmet is classic Man-E-Faces, and now features a slight side-to-side swivel along with the face spins.  Rounding things out is The Undertaker – I don’t see parts which are specific to MOTU but I don’t have everything memorized so if you see a homage there let us know.   He does glow in the dark though, well, featuring an eerie milky white plastic when not lit up.  EDIT – Duh, he homages Scare Glow in the staff, the GITD angle and the tats under the armor.  Shout to Pravus Prime on that.

All in all another fun round!  These brands work surprisingly well together.  For fans of vintage MOTU or the MOTU Origins line coming later this year – parts swapping and custom materials are plenty with these WWE versions.  Read on to check some pics showing off what they can do after the break, courtesy of Mattel!

Mattel’s Masters of the WWE Universe Wave 3 Figures

Posted on April 5, 2020 at 1:39 pm by Joe Moore under Masters Of The Universe Toy News, Wrestling Toy News

Masters of the WWE Wave 3

The official WWE website updated with a bunch of new reveals. Included among them are the next wave of the Masters of the WWE Universe Figures. These mash ups feature WWE Superstars both past and present as classic style Masters of the Universe figures. We’ve previously taken a look at both Wave 1 and Wave 2 of the figures. Wave 3 includes:

  • The Rock
  • New Day
  • Braun Strowman
  • The Undertaker

The Rock looks to be a He-Man homage, though he carries the weapon of Man-At-Arms. The New Day figure is a Man-E-Faces tribute. The three faces include the faces of Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods. Braun Strowman pays homagee to Beast Man. The Undertaker is a Glow-In-The-Dark figure, a clear tribute to Scareglow. The figures will be exclusively available at Walmart, and should be priced at $15 each.

Pre-order listings have not gone live just yet. However, there are some hidden listings on the Walmart site (without images) that name even more figure. The hidden listings include the following figures:

  • Jake the Snake Roberts
  • Kane
  • Rowdy Roddy Piper

We will update with photos of those figures when they become available. For the figures that have been revealed, you can see their photos after the jump.

Mattel WWE Elite x Ghostbusters In-Hand Gallery!

Posted on September 6, 2019 at 3:53 pm by Tony_Bacala under Ghostbusters Toy News, Random Photo Shoot, Wrestling Toy News

WWE Ghostbusters

Who ya gonna call? WWE Superstars, that’s who! Mattel has mashed up two fan favorites with the WWE Elite Ghostbusters assortment, a Wal-Mart exclusive in the States. The wave features The Rock, Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels and John Cena in full Ghostbusting gear. But, who are they busting? The Undertaker of course, in astral form aka translucent purple plastic. Does this make sense? No, but who cares, it’s silly and awesome.

Each WWE Superstar has a proton pack and clothes resembling the Ghostbusters jumpsuits. Stone Cold and The Rock have full soft goods jumpsuits, while Cena and Michaels take a bit of liberty. Cena has a Ghostbusters wristband, while Michaels has a Ghostbusters hat. Once you remove all that, they have traditional WWE get ups with ecto green highlights. The Undertaker is full translucent head to toe, with a green WWE winged eagle championship belt. He even has ghost tats painted on that see through plastic. I am not a hardcore WWE Elite collector, but on quick glance each figure looks to be a re-use of an existing release.

These are due out soon at Wal-Mart, keep your eyes peeled online and in stores. Read on to check out our photo shoot with over 80 HD shots courtesy of Mattel!

Tamashii Effect Rock Accessory Photo Review (The Rock Vs Rock!)

Posted on June 2, 2018 at 4:58 pm by Tony_Bacala under General Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Finally, The Rock has come back… wait wrong rock. Today we are taking a look at the Tamashii Nations Effect Rock. These are modular pieces that start as smaller rocks, combine up to half mounds, and then finally into a circular boulder. How you use or display them is up to you. They can be rubble scattered around, a base for a figure, or a huge thing in the background of your photography or display shelves. They use peg connectors to fit together, and when not combined they can take a standard Tamashii Stage stand in the ports. So you can have your figures hovering or dynamically posed, using any one of the pieces as a weight. Overall it’s a great accessory piece that is useful for displays. We’ve taken shots showing some of what it can do with different figures after the break, read on to check em out!

They are out now in Japan and at US retailers including some of our sponsors below!

S.H. Figuarts WWE Figures (First 5) Mega Review

Posted on November 14, 2017 at 12:45 pm by Tony_Bacala under Random Photo Shoot, Wrestling Toy News

Tamashii Nations S.H. Figuarts line has jumped into non-Japanese licenses with Marvel, DC and Star Wars, but those aren’t the only ones.  On top of video games like Street Fighter and cartoons like the classic Turtles, they also are doing WWF WWE wrestling figures.  Now, one thing Mattel has done well over the years in the boys figure space is wrestling, so it’s hard to jump in and convince folks they need a 50 dollar version of superstars they probably already have.  That being said, I don’t have many Mattel figs but do dig classic wrestling.  I’m a kid of the 80s so of course I was around for Hogan and the rise of the WWF.  In my college years, I rode the Attitude Era and watched Stone Cold, The Rock, and Triple H re-invent what wrestling could be.  These figures are based on that time, giving us Attitude versions of them along with Kane and Undertaker.  Five in all at the moment.

We’ve done a massive catch up shoot, showing off all 5 and what they can do.  Over 210 images.  Read on to check out some additional thoughts and all the glorious pics including a tag match between The Rock and Stone Cold vs Undertaker and Triple H!
