The WETA booth at New York Comic-Con 2014 was similar to their SDCC one. It had the massive Smaug display with the glowing, blinking eyes, which was clear crowd pleaser. The majority of their booth was taken up by their Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit collectibles. they also had some room to display a few Elysium items as well as the new rocket from Thunderbirds Go, which is coming in 2015. They also had some collectible replicas from Team Fortress 2’s Dr. Grordbort packs.

Check out the new Smaug coming from The Bridge Direct. Forum member 46 Zone shared the info with us. The “large scale” Smaug figure is pretty massive, with a wingspan of nearly 2 foot long. Priced at $69.95, the figure will be extremely limited. There will only be 3,000 made, and it will only ship to U.S. residents. Here’s some additional info from the pre-order page:
From the depths of Erebor and the film The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies comes this detailed, limited edition Smaug the dragon large scale action figure, complete with a surprise 1.5″ figure and accessory. Featuring an impressive 22 inch wingspan, Smaug stands tall, measuring 21 inches. No details were overlooked as this centerpiece of any action figure collection was in development. Smaug boasts ten points of articulation and underwent over 140 painting procedures. The figure is plastic, but Smaug’s tail and wingtips have a wire core, allowing for additional poses. This item has a limited edition production run of 3000 units and each box will be labeled with a gold sticker indicating the number. Please note: no special requests can be made for specific numbers. Measurements are approximate and some assembly is required. Note: the surprise figure and accessory will be revealed at a later date. Age 8+.

Alright LEGO we get it…. Lots of new sets are still being show off just hours before SDCC 2014 kicks off officially. Next up is an amazing set from the LEGO The Hobbit series. The Lonely Mountain Comic Con 2014 reveal is a 866-piece set that comes with five mini-figures — Bilbo Baggins, Balin the Dwarf, Dwalin the Dwarf, Ori the Dwarf and Gloin the Dwarf.
And then there is Smaug, who comes with translucent fiery breath, scales, giant wings, sharp claws, spiky tail and poseable joints. The Lair of Smaug will showcase a secret door, an Arkenstone-encrusted throne, golden nuggets, treasures, assorted mining tools, conveyor belt, chain pulley to raise and lower bucket, furnace with a light brick, melting pot and torches with translucent flames.
The set is to due to hit stores this fall and retail for $129.99.

LEGO has announced it’s second SDCC 2014 Exclusive Minifigure Bard the Bowman from the movie series The Hobbit! The Collector character from “Guardians of the Galaxy,” who will be played by Benicio del Toro and is the first confirmed LEGO Minifigure. There are also confirmed reports that the last 2 LEGO Minifigures that will be given away will be from the DC Universe and The LEGO Movie.
LEGO has also added new images of the human-size figure of Smaug, the gold-hoarding dragon from the J.R.R. Tolkien book. The figure will be seen at the Warners booth and will stand over six feet tall. It took builder Erik Varszegi 625 hours to design and build the construct, which is made out of 83,433 pieces of Lego and weighs 411 pounds.
And finally…. The LEGO Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Statue will Debut at Comic Con 2014! Stay Puft is made up 2,654 bricks and took over 60 hours to make. His 25″ tall, 19″ wide and weighs about 18 lbs.
