DC Multiverse Killer Croc Batman 80th Wave & DC Originals Gallery

Posted on August 26, 2019at 4:04 pmby Tony_Bacalaunder DC Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Multiverse Killer Croc Wave 128

The end is nigh! DC Comics Multiverse from Mattel is coming to a close, and the last rounds of figures are dropping now. Today we have a look at 2 waves* – The Multiverse Killer Croc Connect and Connect wave, also titled Batman 80th, and the DC Originals Wave which are ToyBiz tribute figures. The Killer Croc wave consists of Dick Grayson as Batman, Alfred, Red Robin, Red Hood, KG Beast and Katana, with the CnC being a comic inspired Killer Croc. The DC Originals tribute figures are Target exclusives in the US and consist of Batman, Joker and Poison Ivy.

The Killer Croc Wave is well done, one of the most well rounded selections Mattel has offered. The winner of the wave is Alfred, not for engineering sake, though that is solid, but the fact it comes with 4 heads, all of which nail the likeness for the era it belongs to. Runner up is Red Robin – he has true double jointed elbows and a streamlined tight sculpt. If this was the route Mattel was going to go, Multiverse would have gotten real good, real fast next year. Red Hood is a tad disappointing – his guns are molded into the holsters, even though he comes with gun holding extra hands. His helmet is a tad big for the body too. The rest of the wave is above average, great roster fillers. To cap it off, a comic inspired Killer Croc is the CnC, and it is BIG. And well done – colors, sculpt, articulation is all there. I have a feeling this will be the Croc to match for a while.

The Originals figures – solid but not as good as they looked when originally shown at Toy Fair 2019. Poison Ivy especially suffered being translated from proto to production level. If you are looking for nostalgia, they fit that bill, but they weren’t my cup of tea.

Now, there is at least one more wave of figures that hit the proto stage – The Batman Ninja Joker CnC wave. This had Black Canary, Hawkgirl, Simon Baz Green Lantern, Flashpoint Aquaman, Rebirth Mammoth, and a Riddler Retro/Originals figure. Whether these will hit market before the license ends we aren’t sure. Right now, no word and no solicitations are out there.

So, to potentially cap things off for Mattel’s Multiverse figures, read on to check out our gallery for these 10 figures with over 125 HD shots after the break courtesy of Mattel!

DC Comics Red Robin Ikemen Statue by Kotobukiya

Posted on July 24, 2018at 7:46 amby Joe Mooreunder DC Toy News

Pre-orders are open for the upcoming DC Comics Red Robin Ikemen Statue coming from Kotobukiya. This 1/7 scale statue will stand roughly 9″ tall. The statue includes interchangeable masked and unmasked portraits. This production run of Red Robin will include an interchangeable serious portrait that won’t be included in later releases of the statue. The statue is priced at $89.99 with a release set for late January 2019. See the new photos after the jump.

DC Comics Red Robin Ikemen Statue – 1st Edition with bonus part

The third member of the Batman family to join Kotobukiya’s new IKEMEN series is the Batman’s intellectual sidekick, Red Robin!

The IKEMEN series takes popular American comic book characters and reimagines them in the Japanese “IKEMEN,” or “handsome man” style using original concept art by the illustrator Ricken, who is known for her DC Comics work.

The third IKEMEN to join the lineup is Batman’s third sidekick, the Red Robin Tim Drake! The high level of care taken in the sculpting of Tim’s youthful and toned form makes this IKEMEN a must for all Red Robin fans, and the subtle details of his eye‐catching red costume are expertly recreated with a stunning paint job. The statue comes with an interchangeable head, allowing you to display Tim with our without his mask! Additionally, the 1st edition of the statue will come with a bonus face part allowing you to display Tim with a more serious expression that provides a nice contrast with the original lighthearted smile on the default face part. Following up Red Robin as the fourth entry in the IKEMEN series is Damian Robin!

Collect all of the different generations of Robin and display them side by side to fully evoke the unique dynamic of the Batman family!

*The “serious face” part will only be included with the 1st edition of the product and will not be included in later reproductions.

Kotobukiya Red Robin ARTFX Statue

Posted on September 2, 2015at 1:46 pmby Joe Mooreunder DC Toy News

We have our first official look at the Kotobukiya Red Robin ARTFX+ Statue, which we last saw at SDCC 2015. The 1/10 scale statue stands at 7″ tall and is due out in May 2016. It will be priced at $54.99. Here are more details from Koto:

The latest DC Comics ARTFX+ Statue from Kotobukiya adds another member of the “Batman Family” of characters from the pages of the New 52, RED ROBIN! The third assistant to Batman after Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, Tim Drake is famous for his detective skills; he actually figured out the Dark Knight’s secret identity all on his own. But like those before him Drake eventually emerged from the shadow of the Bat to be his own hero and so became Red Robin, leader of the Teen Titans. That was his role in the New 52 era of DC Comics, and now that incarnation is joining the ever-growing lineup of ARTFX+ Statues!

Brilliant and confident, Red Robin points at villains as though saying “I know all of your secrets!” The young hero is clad in his distinctive costume first seen in the New 52, a complex black bodysuit with built-in red armor panels and reinforced boots. On top of that he wears a black utility belt full of pouches, gloves with yellow accents, a red domino mask, and a yellow and blue chest harness that connects to his jetpack and segmented red cape that allows him to fly. Tim Drake’s outfit has a great metallic, glossy sheen that really brings to life his high tech gear, and there are tons of cool details from his defined musculature to the Teen Titans logo on his shoulder, and much more. And despite the cocky grin on his face you know Red Robin means business as he holds his trusty staff at the ready!

Sculpted by Naoya Muto, Red Robin stands just over 7 inches tall (1/10 scale) and like all ARTFX+ statues he has magnets in his feet for extra stability on his included display base. The high flying teen hero looks great on his own and makes a perfect companion piece for the other Batman Family ARTFX+ statues like Red Hood, Nightwing, Damian Wayne, and of course the Dark Knight himself!
