The Force is strong today I guess! Hasbro kicked off May The 4th celebrations today via a live stream, we got a slew of new reveals, and I was getting ready to drop a gallery for some of the latest Black Series releases! Today we are looking at some Empire Strikes Back 40th figures – the deluxe scale Imperial Probe Droid, along with the first wave of the Retro Kenner Cardback ESB40 figs.
I tend not to do the Black Series sealed, and I don’t keep boxes or packaging. I open em, run em and display them. These 40th vintage cards though – I’ve been rocking them sealed since the New Hope ones from 2017. And I am happy they are continuing the trend this year for Empire! All are sharp, but the cards themselves are a little thin compared to previous releases. The figures inside are repaints, but Luke and Yoda get Photo Real tech applied to the faces – also done well. We got doubles and busted them open to show differences after the break.
The Probe Droid is sharp – nice and big, a great addition to the line up. Tons of moving joints and parts so you can make it look as creepy as you want with all those arms. The flight stand works perfectly. It’ll display well on the shelves. Had some fun doing Hoth scenes with that one.
All of these are out now, and available at our sponsor Dorkside Toys who was kind enough to send through a set. Hit the links below to grab your copies or the recent pre-orders!
