Tamashii 2020 Event Exclusives In Hand Preview

Tamashii Nations 2020 exclusives, which would have kicked off at SDCC next week (:tearz) – are officially in the house!   We received an early care package and ran them quick for some base shots.  Included are the S.H. Figuarts Android 17 and 18 in event exclusive colors, S.H. Figuarts UI Sign Goku, S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla 2019 in event exclusive colors, and S.H. Figuarts ZERO statues of Vegito Blue and OG Broly.

All in all it’s a sweet line up.   Android 17 and 18 have been highly sought after on the secondary market, and these re-issues in slightly different colors allows folks to catch up. Still exclusive prices, but not that crazy secondary markup.  UI Sign Goku is great, I’ve been wanting a ripped undershirt version of Goku since day 1, and here he is.  Alternate colored heads pop right on as well.  We’ll do a more detailed gallery for each of those soon.

Clear blue Godzilla exclusive – yes please, plays well with light and the epic poster tones.  The Zero pieces – always admired them from a distance, and now that they are in hand I am impressed.  If I had space, I would gladly rock these alongside traditional S.H.F.  Broly is especially impressive in hand.

2020 Tamashii Exclusives

Bluefin and Tamashii Nations have revealed the Tamashii Nations 2020 Exclusives. These are being revealed to coincide with Funimation Con. They will be availabel to pre-order starting July 16th – July 31st 2020 via Premium Bandai USA. there’s a number of Dragon Ball items, and a Godzilla S.H. MonsterArts exclusive for the event. SHF UI Goku 99

Ultra Instinct – the highest form of power up for Goku (for now) is here, in hand, in S.H. Figuarts form!  I’ve been waiting for this for a while now, it’s the perfect representation of the modern Dragonball era.  And Tamashii Nations did a great job with the figure – IMO taking top spot as the best Goku to date.  He has metallic silver on the hair, full shirtless upper with torn gi above the belt, ripped pants, 4 faces in standard levels of intensity, 4 sets of hands – all standard Goku SHF styles and a Kamehameha energy ball – same one as previously released in a sharper blue clear plastic.   Nothing crazy but the execution is tops.  Smooth firm joints, dense plastic, sharp sculpt head to toe, colors pop.  Feels good in hand.  A worthy rep of Goku’s ultimate form.  Only ask would be a slight wash on the body, as he has a lot of cuts and scrapes built into the mold, but they don’t shine due to lack of paint on the flesh.  We’ve taken him for a spin with a battle against Jiren, so read on to check him out courtesy of TheToySource!  He’s in stock there and shipping now!

Imagination Works Goku 11

Bandai have fully revealed that new body style Goku from a while back. Labeled Imagination Works – the figure is roughly 1/9 scale (7 inches) and features a hybrid seamless body style. The arm features no elbow joints covered in a silicone layer, while the various clothing features texture detailing. Enhanced articulation engineering is present throughout to go a step beyond normal S.H. Figuarts.

It comes with both regular and Super Saiyan hair, multiple hands (looks like the standard Goku hand styles from S.H.F.). Looks like there will be two heads, 2 facial expressions for each head. There will also be swappable eye expressions per head. The upper body clothing is using a softer material (not fabric) to allow bending while posing, so the gi is detached from the body sculpt. The legs feature a pop out knee to keep the silhouette. Wrists and ankles look to use a ball joint. There is paint detailing on hair and clothing to add depth.

Overall it looks sharp and is a new mixed media format. Not quite One:12, not quite S.H. Figuarts. Around NECA and McFarlane scale.

The figure is due out in October 2020 in Japan. Price is 11,000 yen ($101.00 USD). Stay tuned for more details and pre-orders. Read on to check the translated details and official pics. Thanks to RamenRider for the heads up!

Imagination Works Goku Preview

Tamashii Nations has updated with a new product teaser. They have launched the landing page for their Imagination Works line. The page shows a preview photo of Goku from Dragon Ball Z. This will be a 1/9 scale articulated figure, and looks to feature some seamless joints hidden behind either soft rubber or soft vinyl. At 1/9 scale, the figures would be roughly 8″ tall, depending on the character. At this time, there are no additional details. We will update with more info as it is released. SH Figuarts Bulma Bike 006

The product page for the upcoming Dragon Ball – S.H. Figuarts Bulma’s Capsule No. 9 Bike has gone live from Tamashii Nations. this will be a general release in Japan, and pre-orders go live starting Friday, April 3rd. The bike appeared in the first episode of the Dragon Ball anime. It measures just under 7″ in length, and can fit both Bulma and Kid Goku. The Capsule No.9 Bike includes a stand set, a swap out skirt piece for Bulma, bike grip hands for Bulma, and a fixed pose Kid Goku figure. The wheels will rotate as well. Bulma’s Bike is priced at 7,700 Yen (about $72 USD), and is scheduled for release in September. You can see the photos by reading on.

Tamashii Nations DB Update

Tamashii Nations has posted the product pages for a few new Dragon Ball items. We’ve seen these figures on display at a few shows over the past 4 months or so. The upcoming releases include S.H. Figuarts Son Goku Kaio-Ken, S.H. Figuarts Captain Ginyu, and the Tamashii Effects Series Energy Aura Red Version effects piece. Pre-orders go live in Japan on January 10th, and each items is set for a June release.

The Son Goku Kaio-Ken Figure includes swap out heads, three swap out expressions, and interchangeable hands. Goku stands at 5.5″ tall. He will be priced at 3,850 Yen (about $35 USD). The Captain Ginyu Figure includes three interchangeable heads, a swap out battle damaged chest, interchangeable hands, and a four star Dragon Ball. Ginyu stands about 6.7″ tall. He’s priced at 7,150 Yen (about $65 USD). The Energy Aura Red Version features three energey effects pieces. It pairs perfectly with the Son Goku Kaio-Ken Figure. It’s priced at 2,750 Yen (about $25 USD).

SH Figuarts Son Goku Kaio Ken

A preview photo has been released for the S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball Son Goku Kaio-Ken Figure. This upcoming release will be on display at the Tamashii Nations 2019 Exhibition in Japan. No additional details are available at this time.

UPDATE:
Dengeki Hobby has photos of the figure on display, as well as the effects piece. Both the son Goku and the Energy Aura Red Version as listed as “Display Only”.
