The X-Files Return… As Vinyl Figures from Titan

Posted on January 24, 2016 at 5:11 pm by Tony_Bacala under Random Photo Shoot, Urban and Vinyl Toy News

The X-Files are returning to television tonight after the game for a 6 episode mini-series, letting us peek in on Mulder and Scully years later to see what’s been going on. To celebrate, let’s take a look at the recently released Titans Vinyl Figures from Titan Merchandise.

The Titan Vinyls line is a series of higher end blind box figures from various entertainment properties featuring oversized heads which move along with the arms, stubby bodies and accessories. They have Doctor Who, Sherlock, Aliens, Ghostbusters, X-Files and a ton more. Singularly they’re perfect filler for your desk or themed shelves and when you grab entire “collections” (waves), they can stand on their own. Each collection comes in a case box with varying ratios. About half get 2 per 20 case box. The other almost-half get 1 per 20 case box. And to round off the chase, there are 4 figures which are only 1 per 40, aka, 1 every other case. In each case box, you’ll get at least 2 of the 1/40 pieces. To grab the whole collection, you’ll have to push your luck buying singles, grab 2 cases and pray they’re different & sell off the rest, or hit the secondary market.

After the break, let’s take a look at the X-Files “The Truth is Out There” Collection with over 70 HD pics courtesy of site sponsor Entertainment Earth!

NECA has posted a press release announcing that they have acquired Kidrobot, an urban vinyl toy company. See the press release below.

URBAN VINYL ICON KIDROBOT JOINS NECA FAMILY OF COMPANIES

Will Again Be Run as an Artist-Driven Company Under the Creative Direction of Frank Kozik

Hillside, NJ – November 19, 2014 – In an announcement sure to bring cheers and tears of joy to die-hard fans and artists around the world, KR Purchase, LLC (a wholly owned subsidiary of National Entertainment Collectibles Association) and Kidrobot today announced the signing of a definitive agreement under which KR Purchase will acquire Kidrobot. The globally recognized creator of designer vinyl toys joins the growing NECA family of specialty entertainment companies, and will proceed as an artist-run company under the creative direction of Frank Kozik, renowned graphic artist and creator of the Labbit urban vinyl toy line.

“It’s rare to have the opportunity to join forces with an artist-centric company like this,” said Joel Weinshanker, COO of NECA. “We are doubly thrilled to be able to allow it to grow organically and flourish on its own, which is what we’re certain it will do with the involvement of Frank Kozik as Creative Director.”

“When Joel and NECA approached us about joining forces, about his intention to support us and allow Kidrobot to move forward with autonomy, I knew we had found the right partner,” said Bob Africa, President of Kidrobot. “The timing of Frank agreeing to join us could not have been better and we are incredibly excited about Kidrobot’s future.”

Kidrobot will remain headquartered in their Boulder offices, while they are supported by NECA’s (located in Hillside, NJ) vast network of suppliers, creatives and internal team members.
