Ghostbusters 2020

Hasbro obtained the license for Ghostbusters merchandise last year, and this year’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be hitting theaters in July.  Before then, Hasbro’s toys are set to drop and today we have a first inkling on what that will be.  Thanks to ACD Distribution, we have stub pages using code names for different product types.  There seems to be a 20 dollar range figure in the “Plasma” series – possibly a Marvel Legends style collector line.  In addition, the same code name characters are in the 10 dollar “Fright” series.  There seems to be an Ecto 1 playset and lots of role play themed items.  No images yet, all this is set to drop in April 2020.  Stay tuned for more details and pics in the coming weeks.

NYCC 2019 Hero Collector 080

At New York comic-Con 20149, Eaglemoss Hero Collector debuted their new Ghostbusters statue line. Not only are they releasing the Ghostbusters as a set, but they also debuted a 1/8 scale Ecto-1. Also on display were a number of statues and busts from DC Comics, WWE, Aliens, and Predator.

Hollywood Collectibles Group has opened up pre-orders for their new Ghostbusters Firehouse Sign Replica. The double sided sign measure 32″ x 30″ with the ability to light up using the included power adapter. You can hang the sign directly on a wall, or you can hang it from a sign bracket using chains. However, you will need to supply your own chains and brackets to hang the sign. The standard release is limited to 500 pieces, while the HCG Exclusive, which includes a numbered metal plaque, is limited to 150 pieces.

You can pick up the Standard Version or the Exclusive Version for $899.95. Optional payment plans are available. The Firehouse Sign is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2020. You can check out photos, additional info, and the pre-order links after the jump.

WWE Ghostbusters

Who ya gonna call? WWE Superstars, that’s who! Mattel has mashed up two fan favorites with the WWE Elite Ghostbusters assortment, a Wal-Mart exclusive in the States. The wave features The Rock, Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels and John Cena in full Ghostbusting gear. But, who are they busting? The Undertaker of course, in astral form aka translucent purple plastic. Does this make sense? No, but who cares, it’s silly and awesome.

Each WWE Superstar has a proton pack and clothes resembling the Ghostbusters jumpsuits. Stone Cold and The Rock have full soft goods jumpsuits, while Cena and Michaels take a bit of liberty. Cena has a Ghostbusters wristband, while Michaels has a Ghostbusters hat. Once you remove all that, they have traditional WWE get ups with ecto green highlights. The Undertaker is full translucent head to toe, with a green WWE winged eagle championship belt. He even has ghost tats painted on that see through plastic. I am not a hardcore WWE Elite collector, but on quick glance each figure looks to be a re-use of an existing release.

Ghostbusters 2020

In a new report from The Hollywood Reporter it was announced that Hasbro has acquired the worldwide Master Toy License for The Ghosbusters! The first products will hit shelves in 2020, in time for the new Ghostbusters film. In the upcoming film, the surviving original Ghostbusters cast return along with some fresh faces. It serves as a direct sequel to the original two films and is due out on Jul 10th, 2020. Hasbro has been dabbling a bit in the Ghostbusters license with a few crossover Transformers figures earlier this year. As the master toy license holder, they will have access to the entire Ghostbusters catalog to pull from. an excerpt from the article:

“As we build up to release our new Ghostbusters film next year, it was a natural choice to work with Hasbro to develop an all-new line of toys that not only celebrates the new film but also brings us back to the roots of the original film and toy line,” reads a statement from Jamie Stevens, executive vice president with Sony Pictures Consumer Products. “Hasbro has a proven track record of working with well-known IP to make a variety of high-quality toys and figures that appeal to people of all ages, and we are excited to leverage this expertise to bring new product experiences to Ghostbusters fans around the world.”

While toys and figures from the new film are a given, there’s no word on what film Hasbro will choose to kick off their line. Up until this point, Diamond Select Toys had been producing a long running line of Ghostbusters figures. Their releases have spanned not only the original films, but also the fan favorite animated series. Their line has run 10 assortments, bringing fans two massive diorama displays in the Rooftop dio and the Firehouse entrance.

With New York Comic-Con 2019 coming in October, and Toy Fair 2019 coming up in February, it may not be too long before we see our first products. We’ll update as more info is released.
