As per the Hollywood Reporter – Hasbro will be cutting 1,000 jobs equaling about 15% of their workforce in a cost saving move. It seems as if 2022 under performed for the toy maker after COVID era highs – while some people were stuck at home and had more free time to shop online, needed an escape for themselves during that time, had some cost savings due to remote work and/or stimulus, and needed to keep their kids occupied due to being home too. Of course that wasn’t everyone, but those that seemed to have it during that period were shopping online for Hasbro type stuff. That now seems over. To compensate, Hasbro is cutting workers and attempting sell off it’s recently purchased eOne studios, a key part of the previous Blueprint to expand into the media game – in order to focus on Blueprint 2.0 which focuses on gaming (physical and digital).
How this will affect the various teams behind the brands we know and love here at Toyark is unknown at the moment. We wish the best to all those we’ve met in person at shows, follow on the various streams, and to those we know work behind the scenes to make our plastic goodies.
