That headsculpt is SO. FUCKING. GOOD. Omfg.

It's like Bandai intentionally fucked up on every single MCU/real person headsculpt from the past decade as sacrifice to the likeness god, so they can make this one good headsculpt.

Dam, that is an impressive likeness. Was it ever confirmed that Garfield not signing off on his likeness was the reason the ML set doesnt come with unmasked heads?

Posed standing they always look...fine-ish. But as soon as they are action posed...uggh...might as well be Lincoln logs.

Nice head sculpt though. Too expensive for the garbage they produce.

I was heavily weighing the Hot Toys based on the head sculpt alone, but I'm in for this. Digital face scanning is absolutely killing it for 1/12 and 1/10s scales. Up next: better paint apps.

It's too bad these figures are so small. If these scaled correctly with my Legends this would be an instant buy.

I love Figuarts, I’ve been buying them for like 8 years now, I love the Raimi Spidey films, is saw them all in theaters.

But looking at this - I feel nothing. Less than nothing actually, I don’t want it.

Can't properly explain it, but one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb to me are the elbow joints. Why are these not red like the wrists?

God, I miss ToyBiz. That line for the 2002 movie had my favorite figure ever with Wrestler Spider-Man. I always wondered if the Hasbro one in 2008 was a remake or if they managed to get ToyBiz' old molds.

Figuarts does those DCUC looking crotch.o
    Just ruins the aesthetics.

Hot toys is nicer but articulating it will stress the clothes.

Just missed a preorder on hobby genki. It has a really weird looking sumo crotch. They showed a picture of it in the back, and it looks like it’s wearing a thong.

Tamashii web exclusive and sold out, btw. You would even have to pay upfront and it still sold out. Wow.

66 bucks ain't bad for what you get, especially since the 3-pack version won't have the unmasked head, web effects or be as articulated...

Same here! SH Figuarts especially shies away from the villains (though we got Taskmaster...!) I guess with the cost of the figures (even by Japanese standards?), people will choose the hero before they choose the villain.

(But... Hot Toys gets by with $300 obscure villains like Electro and Whiplash... or maybe Hot Toys fan base leans so wealthy that they can splurge on every character... (but no Hot Toys Obsidian Cull (Thanos' four lieutenants? I get them confused--the film renamed Black Dwarf (haha, not a great name) to Obsidian Cull, the team name, right?

I agree! With a few exceptions, I'm fond of all my Figuarts, even the maligned Infinity War Captain America.

    Mafex though--wow--has closed the gap!

For those who don't collect the Figuarts, it is hard to explain: SH Figuarts has a "style", both "look" and "feel". They can seem to have postures that look more "real" whereas Hasbro figs (latest Valkyrie big exception!) can seem more mechanical and "straight up and down" (unnatural posture).

Sorry Hasbro, but I'm dropping my preorder to get these...or even the MAFEX ones (I'm sure they'll throw their hat in the ring too) . The licensing floodgates are open!

I might wait to see MAFEX's, if they do one. I tend to like how their figures of real-life people look more than Figuarts'. If MAFEX doesn't throw their hat in the ring with a superior option, though, this'll be an instabuy for sure.

Why are both SH Figuarts and Hot Toys giving Tobey such a dour facial expression for the unmasked heads? He looks fucking miserable.

Yeah, natural looking contrapposto poses can be pulled off with SHF. And the look and feel, to me, seems to be due to the crisp sculpting on high quality plastic.

I wonder, what is Figuarts doing differently that Mafex seems to be lacking with their likenesses. That’s ridiculously spot on

Yeah, I agree to an extent. I like the dour face, but the figure's sorely lacking a second, smiling/"heroic" face.
