    Tony, is it 9am ET?

ENI has more images and the following blurb from Mattel: He-Man looks to have flocked boot tops and loincloth.

"Seven-inch scale with astounding vintage detail. Die-cast weapons and armor. 30 points of articulation. Our Masters of the Universe Masterverse He-Man vs. Skeletor 40th Anniversary 2-Pack is the ultimate pairing of these opposing good and evil forces! And the Skeletor figure is currently only available in this 2-Pack. Available at SDCC on 7/20 and MattelCreations.com on 7/22 at 9am PT."

In addition, He-Man looks to have flocked boot tops and loincloth.

I'll try to get it at the Con but I remember Mattel's lines being bad in the past, I thought they said they weren't going to have anything on hand? Maybe only a couple items will make the lines move fast.

The open mouth Skeletor is kind of a turn off.

Interesting that they don't show Classics Skeletor in that picture of all his figures. Maybe because Classics actually looks better than the 40th anniversary version?

Of course, you're getting better articulation with this new one . . . but only a little better.

Ahhh I was dreading this day, I guess it was only a matter of time before the Masterverse line started going the exclusives hard to get route, living in the U.K. I won’t be attending the con, so my only option is to order online, at 2 in the afternoon whilst I’m at work and hope I get lucky, I don’t like this sort of thing, grumble grumble

Oh yeah, interesting that they excluded Classics. I'd guess because it wasnt an ongoing retail line like the others were but who knows..

I think the articulation is a lot better. I don't much care for the limited articulation of the Classics. Frustrating and dated, particularly the lack of double jointed elbows and knees. And Masterverse does those without the gigantic ugly pin holes of Classics too. lol. I much prefer this Skeletor. And aye, can use the normal head from the Barbarian Skeletor on it too as an option.

To be fair the it's not the first SDCC Masterverse exclusive. Scare Glow has a slightier fancier version last year before a stripped down retail version was made for those of us poorer people. lol

What the? Die cast weapons? Damn I’m sold.

Aye I did wonder why He-Man's shield had screws in it which previous shields have not. This does feel rather premium.

Aye, I want a set. Now how do I get me a set here in the UK? lol

It looks like he has an articulated jaw. It looks like there’s a hinge inside his mouth, and some pics show his mouth wider than others. I could be wrong

Maybe I shouldn’t be so bummed out, the He-Man looks to be the 40th anniversary single release that’s due to come out and apparently the blurb says you can only get the Skeletor in this 2 set ‘currently’, I’m smelling a less sexy single release in the future for that as well

Aye, in the animation of He-Man punching Skelly right in the face it certainly looks like the jaw is articulated. Unless they faked it being closed.

The He-Man in this set looks to have some extra features like the die-cast metal weapons and armour and the flocked fur on the boot tops and his briefs. But yeah other than that mostly the same as single release.

I've just been watching a video on Mattel's Instagram where one of the designers goes through the set and he confirms Skeletor's jaw is one of the points of articulation. So aye, that's pretty sweet.

With the way the Masterverse line is struggling this set should be a wider release

I thought the same thing as you and looked further. The jaw is hinged. It's just shown open in every photo except the packaged images.

So what are the differences between this version of 40th He-Man and Skeletor? Please let it be nothing, and then I can wait for a regular release.

It's already been stated but aye, the differences between this He-Man and and single pack retail version are this one has his weapons and armour made in actual metal and the fur of his shorts and his boots is flocked. The retail one has no flocking and the weapons and armour are the usual plastic.

Skeletor is stated to be exclusive to this set for now but I assume a retail version would again have plastic instead of metal. And maybe even have a solid non-articulated face as usual, instead of this one's articulated jaw.

Thanks for the info, I saw this news on my computer at work. I should have waited to get home to read more.

I am tempted, and will try for it. If I don't get it I'll live.

Would kill for this set, probably will because it will probably be like $100, sell out in 15 seconds, then become available on 3rd party retailers for $300. Best I can hope for is they do Skeletor like they are doing the regular retail 40th Anniversary He-Man. And am I only one hoping Masterverse does a new Adventures he-Man and Skelly?

Well, New Adventures dragged down Classics, causing people to desert the all-in subscription model in droves. But, hey, let's bring it back into the Masterverse line, which is already struggling to drum up interest (high demand figures are hard to get, while others are like $10 on Amazon).

    Seems a good formula.

New Adventures is my favorite design for Skeletor and He-Man. I would definitely buy NA characters in Masterverse form. He-Man, Skeletor, She-Ra, Sorceress, Flipshot, Optikk, etc.

I would also love to see more original She-Ra/POP characters in Masterverse.
