Sokka (Book One: Water)
Sokka is a bullheaded, sarcastic teenager who believes that his way is the only way. He shows the strength and determination of a warrior, but lacks the experience and wisdom to use them effectively. Sokka’s goal in life is to reunite with his father, so that together they may exact revenge against the Fire Nation for destroying their tribe. His most prized possession is a boomerang, a traditional weapon of his Water Tribe, which his father bequeathed to him before leaving the tribe. Sokka is not in touch with his spiritual side and doesn’t trust anything he can’t physically see or touch. Therefore, he’s practical; preferring tools and weapons to Bending, which he has not learned. Sokka’s personality is abrasive at times, but his loyalty and courage are steadfast. He holds grudges and has difficulty forgiving anyone who has done harm to him or his sister.

Aang with Momo
Aang is the hero and spirit of the show. This adventurous 12- year-old is the last Airbender and only known survivor of the Air Nomads, the arrow on his head a constant reminder of his lineage. His destiny is to learn the art of the Avatar and defeat the Fire Lord of the Fire Nation. But rather than save the world, Aang searches for adventure. He wants a life full of fun experiences, not heavy responsibilities. Aang believes people are either in harmony with the Spirit of the Planet, or corrupt and misled. Because Aang is the Avatar, he has a connection with nature as well as animals. If he’s lost, Aang is able to “listen” to the spirits of the trees, rivers, and mountains who “tell” him which way to go. He is a trickster hero uninhibited by social constraints, and constantly breaking taboos.
Momo is a flying lemur, a clever creature who uses his winged arms, remarkable agility, and curious personality to get what he wants – which is usually fruit.

McFarlane Avatar: The Last Airbender Sokka Teaser
https://news.toyark.com/2022/06/24/m...-teaser-471966
They sure did take their time with announcing a figure after Avatar State Aang was announced waaaaaaay back in January. I hope they announce the next figure soon, and I hope it's a female character, and not a variant of this version of Sokka. Hoping for Korra or Katara and Toph. Also would be nice to eventually get a non-Aangry Aang, but first give us new characters!
Indeed. Finish off the main crew: Toph and a 7" scale Momo (I want Appa as well but I think the 5" one will be all we see), Uncle Iroh and then quickly get to Azula, Mai, Ty Lee and Suki.
It is always exciting to see new figures but my word he looks awfully white washed like his skin tone if far lighter than he is suppose to be… It’s like watching the live action Avatar movie all over again….
Yeah that's also the concern when they do figures of dark skinned characters. Though I don't think the skin is wrong here. It's weird.
The figure is clearly darker then the figure for Aang. Sokka on the show isn't really dark skinned but he's not pale.
Some scene do have him favor a deeper brown but then others the lighting brings him closer to this toy. But then you see the hands are much saturated then his face and chest.
So ultimately I agree they could have went darker.
Also like Dragon Ball Evolution........we don't speak for Airbender film in these parts. It never happened, it doesn't exist.
Seeing some hints of Jackson Rathbone from the Shyamalan film in that Sokka sculpt...I can dig it.
With the teaser of Aang No. 2, I get Momo (with a happy Aang!) Uncle Iroh and Toph next please.
Not exactly happy that the new figure is a 3rd Aang, but at least this one has an expression that is more common on the character.
We're not genetically different enough to be considered different races.
Socially speaking though I am a middle-aged white male so I can say with authority that I am speaking through a microphone of someone who has never felt unrepresented in popular media.
I get it.
But I think you're seeing something that is decidedly not present.
There is the abstract concept that these fictional characters from an imaginary world should even have analog ethnicities in the real world.
Then there is the empirical evidence that Aang has a fairer complexion compared to his comrades in the animation.
I think the McFarlane figure has completely nailed Aang's likeness.
^ Wasn't he talking about Sokka? Anyway... I almost bought the 5" Toph that recently came out with Iroh, but the quality just wasn't there IMO. Maybe I will jump on these 7" versions now that regular Aang and Sokka are coming out... I had no interest in Zuko or Avatar Aang. Now that McFarlane is like king of action figures I am more confident that he will do the rest of the Avatar gang eventually.
I really don't like the faces on these figures. They do look like the characters but I prefer neutral faces, so I pass on all of these figures.
I still don't think it's accurate, but I understand the basis more.
Looks interesting, but the larger size figures with goofy faces are kinda meh. It's a shame the Diamond Select 7" ones had such horrid articulation because they had way better sculpts.
I'm fine with the combo of BST AXN and the Walmart 5" ones.
The DST sculpts aren't good. The DST Sokka looks terrible, and can't pose well. The only thing it has going for it is the darker skin tone.
Who?
What???;^)
I really wish McFarlane would include alternate neutral heads. I want to get these but these are all a pass.
