Todd McFarlane has brought back Spawn in a big way over the last couple years. The road to 300 expanded the mythos as he broke the independent creator record for longest running book. The year of Spawn took that and expanded it into several new books. There was a Kickstarter which broke records and brought Spawn into the modern age of toys. And now we are on wave 2 of a running Spawn action figure line, with Wave 3 already in the works. Today we are taking a look at some of wave 2 – She-Spawn, Soul Crusher, and Cy-Gor further expand the Spawn Universe line up with solid entries. A variant of Wave 1’s Violator Megafig with a bit of blood is also inside. Wave 2 also featured a repaint of Redeemer as Dark Redeemer, and a mass-release of Gunslinger Spawn with new accessories. Those are not featured here.
Read on to check out 100 pics and some quick thoughts on each after the break. Some come courtesy of McFarlane Toys (thanks!) and some I grabbed at retail.
Spawn 202x Wave 2 Overall Thoughts
She-Spawn
The Deluxe entry is solid. She is functional everywhere, articulation is there. That however adds some chunkiness to the sculpt, specifically in the crotchal area. The blend between pieces is not flush. Sculpt is fantastic otherwise, and the flowing hair works. Weapons cache is bonkers, and can eventually port over to a Modern or Commando Spawn if/when he comes. Or any other 7 inch figures that may not have guns for whatever reason.
Soul Crusher
This guy was introduced while I was on hiatus, so I had to do some research. He looks cool, story seems good, and he’s come back into the mix in recent books. So I’m all for it. Articulation cuts are well hidden throughout. The one thing that I ding McFarlane on now that we’ve fully moved into the modern articulation era – the style of articulation used for feet/wrists. Not a fan of the visible ball joint, or anything which limits unfocused quick changes. Hard clickies limit fine-tuned positioning, in photos and on shelf. Especially the ankle situation. HOWEVER – for whatever reason, the ankles here are smoother than normal. They seem a bit bigger to blend with the boot, and have a peg in them, some rocker functionality, where DC Multiverse tend not to. If the ball and peg style is gonna stay, I hope they can mimic whatever is going on here. Much easier to plant the foot with this setup. EDIT – After writing this out, additional figures showed up in solicitations with this tech. Looks like they are moving to it, hopefully the functionality and smoothness stays. Can see a video of it in action in the thread here.
Cy-Gor
Megafig, as he should be. He’s a big hunk of plastic. The RAW-10 one was fun for what it was, and bigger, but the articulation here is appreciated. The crotchal again is a bit weird at times, lots of opportunity to show gaps, but the range is good. Hands seem a bit weird, a tad thin, but work in most positions. Find a good pose and he’s perfect on shelf.
Bloody Violator
Gamestop exclusive. Was delayed for me until recently, but glad he’s here. The blood adds that needed layer to yuk this guy up. Not needed if you already have the standard one, but if you don’t have him already and want him, this is a good pick up. As before, the amount of fine detail in this sculpt is bonkers, the paint brings it out, and the blood just adds to it here. Coupled with the articulation on such a big figure, I really didn’t think we’d ever see this. So yay!
Overall – great additions! Bring on Wave 3!

Awesome pics! I can't wait too get my set of these.
What I don't get is why they send the rare variant Platinum figures to reviewers. I mean, Todd sent that tool, Shartimus, a bunch of free toys including the chase, and that dipshit does nothing but rip on McFarlane. Meanwhile, I'll be on eBay trying to get one for under $100.
I still would have preferred him skinny, but I take back what I said about Buff Violator looking stupid. In-hand, he looks pretty awesome, even if he is still too bulky. I might have to pick him up.
It looks like the eyes have UV paint! That's a big bonus for me, I built a small blacklight area on my shelf for the Classified figures (when they were still doing the UV "tech accents") and was super duper pleased to see how well it worked with the Kickstarter Spawn
The sticker on Cowboy Spawn seems desperate
I'm not a definitive source on Spawn comics, but he was present in book looking like this.
Spoilers attached if you wanna check.

And I still don't understand how Todd has suddenly been able to ramp up the quality and number of figures that he's producing to such an absurd degree. It seems like night and day from just a year or two ago. I used to take the biggest shits on everything Todd did - when he first got the DC license the initial wave was garbage - but now I'm almost becoming a fanboy. I thought McFarlane Toys was a small company, comparable to NECA? I mean, I wish NECA was taking on this many licenses and had such prolific output. It's so weird.
So looks like they turned Clown into Kingpin? I don't hate it.

However, he's meant to stand with more bend in the knees and ankles.
That got the ball rolling in a major way, and they took great advantage of it. I also wouldn't be surprised if Mattel's bungling led to a temporary devaluation of the DC license at the best possible time for Todd
The new Violator looks more intimidating than the classic one. I like that the modern Clown is based from the Clown 2 toy. Gunslinger and Raven Spawn looks great. Redeemer, although I don't plan to get him looks good, exclusive or otherwise.
I had a chance to see these in-hand and the quality is outstanding.

And for discussion's sake, here is the video of the new ankle tech on Soul Crusher which was a much smoother experience posing.

I want ex-wife i mean soulcrusher and preist.
She-Spawn's ginormous weapons aren't worth double the price.
She-Spawn's diaper looks kind of ridiculous. Guess she needs Depends?
Definitely ant those weapons, which I'm pretty sure is WHY she's got all those weapons - Todd knows that's the selling point.
That She-Spawn gun with 3 magazines, 3 trigger groups, and 1 ammo belt hanging off the side looks like something designed by Looney Tunes.
That S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is sweet.
I had she-spawn and that action figure is really impressive. But my only complain though her hands is quite small to grip her weapons, especially the cleaver-ish staff think. Speaking of that weapon, plastic is soo soft as it bends when holding it due to one end is heavy. They should really consider making the handles a very solid hard plastic and they can leave other parts soft.
