McFarlane’s Winter Showcase ended earlier today, so we are sharing another gallery round up of recently released figures. Not all retailers have received their stock yet, but most of these have been out in the wild in some form or another. Inside you’ll find some overview shots and a couple fancies for the following:
- Megafig Swamp Thing
- Three Jokers Comedian Joker
- Three Jokers Batgirl
- Gotham Knights Red Hood
- Gotham Knights Red Hood Gold Label (grey)
- Gotham Knights Nightwing
- Rebirth Superman
- Superman Unchained Energized Gold Label
- White Knight Azrael Gold Label (silver)
- The Dark Knight Returns Batman V Superman 2 Pack
- White Knight Batman V Azrael 2 Pack
Read on to check out our shots and some quick thoughts on each, courtesy of McFarlane toys! And if you are looking for THE BATMAN, we took a look at those recently here.
Overall Thoughts
Megafig Swamp Thing – Tops of the bunch. Great sculpt head to toe, paint all over the place, really makes it look legit. Articulation is solid.
Three Jokers Comedian Joker – Best of the three Three Jokers. It’s not a perfect version of the book, or the Killing Joke it’s inspired by, but it gets the job done. The fact he has a camera doesn’t hurt either. Now my primary Joker on shelf.
Three Jokers Batgirl – Sharp, but feels a bit too big. She’s got Amazonian height and stance here, I don’t think of Batgirl like that.
Gotham Knights Red Hood – Not a fan of the design. I’m sure the game will be great, but in figure form there are a lot of other better Red Hoods. Hands seem a bit too small. The “gun hands” made me chuckle, then weep. DC, you gotta stop this nonsense. Figure a way to let adults have their collectibles and keep kids “protected” if you need to.
Gotham Knights Red Hood Gold Label (grey) – I dig gray / resin style figures, even if mass produced. I just didn’t need one of this figure.
Gotham Knights Nightwing – The upper torso into the head is great. The proportions otherwise seem a bit gangly for my taste.
Rebirth Superman – Sculpt using the infected Supes – great. Head is not the best IMO, and the color of the skin tone is sickly, makes me think he’s in the Walking Dead and has one of them sweaty fevers brewing. Aside from that, in books and now in toy form – not a fan of the blue boots. Give me Action 1000+ style in this mold with a new head. Could be a definitive modern Supes if executed right.
Superman Unchained Energized Gold Label – I really dug Wave 1’s version of this. Was unnecessary but cool. The one time where a maskless version would have been welcomed, but it was not to be. I am not a fan of this version. Raw plastic, and the energized-ness is just some yellow lines.
White Knight Azrael Gold Label (silver) – Cool sculpt generally, and the silver really works here. But again, unnecessary. If he’s your guy, or you just dig random repaints, should be happy.
The Dark Knight Returns Batman V Superman 2 Pack – As I said above, this era / design style is not my thing. But everyone keeps doing it over and over so someone must. For what it is, it’s done well. Colors on both pop. If you want to rep this iconic battle from the books on shelf, will do it. No crushed kryptonite gun included tho, boo.
White Knight Batman V Azrael 2 Pack – The original wave of toys turned me on to the books. I enjoy it all now. If you super dig them, the new capeless Batman is worth the pick up. Comes with the swords, alt hand to use with the bike. If you haven’t picked up any, this is a cool jump in. I am personally content with just the OG Batman repping this on shelf with the bike.
Basicy Shots
Just did a couple to show off basic stuff for each. There are more below as well.
Fancy Shots
Three Jokers Comedian and Swamp Thing really work for me. Pics wise and on shelf. I’m not a huge fan of the TDKR style in general, but the figures are sharp for what they are. I like Batman better in this blue deco.
