    these look amazing.

but this bums me out. to see boss fight the kings of sculpt and articulation have to settle for 5POA because of market viability.

also bums me out to see Neca's awesome defenders figures peg warming.

also bums me out that the state of the world makes these 5POA and Neca figures almost the same price lol

no shade to either company because im a huge fan of both and know too well the costs now.

    Just a weird time.

As massive, massive fan of Boss Fight- "I don't care."- T'Challa.

We're almost three years out since I pre-ordered Fantasy Wave 5, and they are just now showing new 'production samples' on Facebook over the last month. Sure, I get COVID happened, no worries, but legit, they've since also announced Court of the Dead, acquired the Z wave zombies and redone them from whatever it was the first time, added some Princess line, fantasy and classic characters, Lucha stuff, Sam and Max, Bucky O'Hare, Umbrella Academy (of all things), larger lucha figures and now this.

Boss Fight. Finish what you have, first, before you start overloading yourselves. I am reminded of the trainwreck that is the DCEU.

Man do these feel like super powers. Ordered!

Speaking of, why in the hell has no one done super power? Like exactly as they were in the 80’s. Those are still some of the most wizard figures ever!

Shouldn’t Thun have an actual lion face? That just looks like a homeless dude with a tail.

Depends on which era. Thun originally had a human face with fangs, tail and his general beardiness making him look kinda feline. I think it might have been the Filmation cartoon that first gave him a full-on lion face. He didn't look lion-like at all in the 1980 movie where he was a black man in sorta sci-fi-ish version of african tribal wear sorta thing.

LOL. Still with the wizard thing ok lol
Anyways aye these look nice. I'm not a big fan of the old school articulation but at least these have knee joints so can sit down. That's the bare minimum I need in the leg articulation of figures. So they can sit down properly in vehicles... or on bar stools lol

Who remembers Flash Gordon and the Phantom? Probably anybody who was born in the 80s or 70s and has been a comic and toy fan the whole time...so lots of people I'd think.

Aye. Or a Queen fan, one of the most popular bands that ever existed did a whole ace soundtrack to the 1980 Flash Gordon movie. lol

When we were kids? How the hell old does Boss Fight think we are? Flash Gordon and The Phantom both came out in the 30's!

Yeah, but this ain't THAT Flash Gordon or THAT Phantom, lol. Kids from the 80's and 90's just know those two guys from the cheesy, campy remakes that came out.

I dunno, mate. I know these old versions of Flash Gordon too and I'm not a big Flash Gordon fan or anything or anywhere near old enough to have been a fan in the 30s lol. I just happened to know some stuffs. I sometimes get interested in histories of some franchises and past incarnations of certain characters lol

And are these not 7POA rather than 5? They have knees. They can sit. That makes them better than ReAction at least lol.

Not really. The Phantom comic strip ran in the newspapers throughout the 80s & 90s.

^ That. I could get behind that, if the same standards for accurate detailing and body proportion could be met, with no stylistic embellishments or weirdness.

Except... literally every single one of those was announced PRE-Covid.

They are finally getting some of their product back from China for release (Zombie Lab, Zorro, Phantom/Flash and fantasy wave incoming very soon), so they're resuming some product announcements. Because... this is when ToyFair would have been.

Were they supposed to sit at home and do nothing during the last three years while the factories couldn't get product out? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Even a quick glance at this forum's own news posts show that is not true. Umbrella Academy, Court of the Dead, Flash Gordon, Classics, Popeye, those comic funnies, Lucha all shown/announced in 2020 or later. Not even including the stuff they just helped others with, like the western figures.

I am not asking them to be idle, but I would also expect delivery of product before it feels like focus is shifting. As someone who made a $540+ pre-order back in 11/19, who was told three different dates (all delayed), I am getting irked and losing faith. Genuinely. I understand delays happen. I understand COVID is a thing. I get that. I do. But I am sitting here with a bill with absolutely nothing to show for it, three missed deadlines, and more products announced after the fact than were even available, before, without orders from 2+ years ago being filled.

I am in a 'I get it, but' mood that is just souring as time goes on. I appreciate that they're showing production samples.. but I was told they had product samples, before-

    Hi (REDACTED)!
We are expecting our Wave 6 figures to arrive in the first quarter 2021. We’ve had unprecedented delays this year due to COVID. Our factory shut down for 5 months and they are still working with just 20% of their staff to meet local safety requirements. Once they reopened we needed to make adjustments on our tooling for Wave 6 to get things absolutely perfect, so this unfortunately shifted our production order. Our samples are looking great and they are working very hard to finish these for us! And I certainly understand the concern and desire to wait until these figures to arrive first.

    Have a great night,
    (REDACTED)

So again, I can appreciate delays. But at some point, frustration with announcements of more undelivered product without proper notification or communication of delays is certainly understandable, I would argue.

Amazing company. Amazing products. Genuinely kind staff when you reach out to them. But still frustrated, as a customer.

Let's not forget that Boss Fight has a history of announcing waves of figures and then never releasing them. For example, they announced a wave of "coming soon" sci-fi Vitruvian HACKS back in the day that they abandoned without any word.

Not in any newspaper I ever read as a kid. The only reason I know of The Phantom is due to a stack of comic books my uncle left in a footlocker at my grandparent's house back in the day. And my first exposure to Flash Gordon was the campy 80's movie.

Where I was at it ran seemingly forever in either the NY daily news or staten island advance. I actually never read it much.
Flash...not sure how I knew about him. Dont remember the filmation cartoon and when I saw the movie on hbo in the mid 80s, I knew it was an adaption. I would only guess that I saw the character mentioned in something Star Wars-related...like a tv program or scholastic book about Star Wars. But yeah, I seemed to be aware of him early on...even knew about the Flesh Gordon parody as a kid lol.

Aye, my first experience of Flash Gordon was the Defenders of the Earth cartoon in the 80s and that also had Phantom in it. Then the 1980 movie with it's Queen soundtrack. Then re-runs on TV of the Buster Crabbe serials from the 30s. And I had computer games of my ZX Spectrum of Defenders of the Earth and an unrelated Flash Gordon one. lol There was also the Billy Zane Phantom movie and I remember renting a Phantom game on my Sega that was based on a cartoon in the 90s. lol

And aye I knew of the Flesh Gordon too. It was often joked about in the school playground for some reason like it was some big naughty thing we weren't supposed to know about but did. lol

I knew of the Phantom from the Billy Zane movie, when I was a kid, then talking to my parents about it. And my grandpa, if I recall. I plan on picking up the 4" Boss Fights if they ever fully release.
