DC Essentials DCEASED By The Way of McFarlane Toys is Official, Pre-Orders Live

Posted on December 23, 2021 at 12:36 am by Tony_Bacala under DC Toy News

DC ESSENTIALS DCEASED 2022

We heard word that McFarlane Toys was going to release items that were in progress at the time DC Direct shut down operations.  First we got official word on the statue front.  Now the action figures are coming.  DC Essentials will be returning to shelves with items originally set to release in late 2020.  DCEASED versions of Superman, Supergirl, The Flash and Harley Quinn are now available to pre-order.

There were four more in addition to this which we saw at Toy Fair 2020, right before the pandemic hit – Batgirl, Red Hood, Deathstroke and Nightwing.  Those were only in the grey prototype stage publicly when things stopped.  Rumor is those will come later on, so stay tuned.  No word yet if the line will continue beyond these in-progress items.

All of these are at the 6.75 inch scale, slightly smaller than what McFarlane puts out at 7 inch.  But they do work together on shelf in most cases.  Retail is $29.99 each, with a ship date of April 2022.

Hit our sponsors below, you can read on for official pics and details!  Of note – listings are still going up, check in at your retailer of choice over the next 24 hours or so.

We already know about the four Gotham Knights figures (Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, Tim Drake Robin).

Photos of Unpainted/Artist Proof Lobo, Gotham Knights Red Hood, and Rebirth Superman have already been floating around the internet.

These have been rumored for the Black Adam movie:
    Black Adam
    Black Adam variant
    Hawkman
    Dr. Fate
    Dr. Fate Unmasked
    Cyclone
    Atom Smasher
    Atom Smasher Megafig
    Sabbac Megafig

Some more potential figures have been floating around online:
    Hush
    Batman vs Hush 2-pack
Red Robin (Tim Drake, not sure which costume though)
    TV Flash Season 7
    Wally West Flash (red suit)
    Duke Thomas (Dark Nights Metal)
    Jonathan Kent Superman (Future State)
    Martian Manhunter
    Martian Manhunter Gold Label variant
    Another Batman Who Laughs
    Anti-Crisis Wonder Woman
    Grifter
some sort of Joker "Dragon" vehicle

Finally, there will probably be a few based on Aquaman 2 (the movie is currently scheduled for December 2022).

    Aquaman?
    Mera?
    Black Manta?
    Orm Marius?

Excited for Hawkman. I've loved Aldis Hodge since Leverage.

Wonder if Batman in the 2-pack will be new or just a re-package of an existing figure...

Its mcfarlane so id say the likely hood is high on the probability scale.

Maybe a blue version of the Three Jokers Batman?

Well the "blue version" is actually the Year 2 figure. It uses the same body sans the little different bits. But given the history of these two packs. It will probably be a body we've seen before. But I'd assume they'd do one with the proper bat symbol which means a new torso........unless it's the first figure.

Though reusing Grim Knights torso and combining it with other parts(say Flashpoint Batman) could make a close enough Hush Batman.

That blue is so bright though. I'm used to a much dimmer/darker blue when I think of Hush.

McFarlane is currently the distributor for what used to be DC Direct / DC Collectibles. They've been selling unsold inventory that DC was keeping in their warehouses when AT&T / Warner Media closed that part of the company.

Some new listings just popped up online.

    https://ddc-ppp.com/search_adv.asp?k...=3&pageSize=24

    DCeased Harley Quinn
    DCeased Superman
    DCeased Supergirl
    DCeased Nightwing
    DCeased Batgirl

Some of these were previously announced, just didn't get manufactured or on the cargo containers.

@BarbraGordon - thanks for the heads up. That store has a ton of stuff up there. I've done up a news post with credit. Also merged these two threads with the new info.

DC Multiverse 2022 Listings ? DC Direct DCEASED, Endless Winter, HUSH and A Lot More

    Okay, sweet, thanks!

Did this up. Not all listed, and not necessarily going to be these versions, but possible.

Potentially good thing - Black Adam and Aquaman look pretty vanilla in Endless Winter, so hopefully they work into a modern traditional line up. I can see Jon Stewart GL and Flash being repaints / slight tweak. Wonder Woman has different outfits, and one is similar to the McFarlane designed one, so also a possible remix there. Assuming the BAF is Frost King. Big chunky dude.

It is frustrating, but I think how slowly The Drowned Bryce Wayne is selling spooked McFarlane. It's having a hard time moving even at 50% off.

But hey, we are getting an Unmasked Batwoman Beyond, who isn't Batgirl or Wonder Woman.

Honestly, I m just more excited about a potential Grifter figure than anything else.
Kinda sick of all these monster designs at this point. They are definitely beautifully sculpted in most cases, but ultimately I dont think they are anything special in the long run :/

    True.

But The Drowned and movie Wonder Woman aren't really on the level of Supergirl, Power Girl, Cheetah, Ivy, etc.

Batwoman Beyond and hopefully female Inque are starters at least.

Different line. Zombie Supergirl is just a variant of the DC Essentials Supergirl.

Batwoman Beyond sold well; she's basically sold out like the Target Exclusive Batman Beyond and Masked Shriek. I think that listing for Inque is just the stealth Target Exclusive (repaint of retail-wide Batman Beyond) that's already been released in the United States.

I feel kinda bad about Golden Eagle Wonder Woman. It's really well made and quite pretty. I have the regular Gal Gadot but appreciate some variety, too (otherwise it's always that same armor).

    Ohhh, my bad! I misinterpreted.

Still, it'd be nice to have a McFarlane Supergirl someday!

You'd think McFarlane would just do a wave based on the shows. I never found that damn Arrow.

Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman, Stargirl, Superman, Black Lightning would be a great wave.

Agreed, it'd be nice to get a Melissa Benoist Supergirl in the 7-inch scale. The DC Direct version had a great head sculpt (I think the same as the 1/6-scale statue); just re-use that head, sized appropriately.

The casting has been great for all of the CW shows, regardless of how one feels about the shows themselves. I didn't dislike Ruby Rose as Kate Kate, but if they were going to cast the much taller Rachel Skarsten as her twin, Wallis day should've been Kate Kane since Day 1 since they're the same height. (Plus even if they're only fraternal rather than identical twins, Skarsten and Day have a closer resemblance than Skarsten and Ruby Rose.)

Would love a new John Constantine figure comic or Matt Ryan . I also agree with the lack of the CW characters. I would love figures of Black Lightning and his Daughters and the Legends.

Trust me, you don't want it. He has undersized arms, a huge chest and the DC Collectibles Arrow figures trash him in every way
