There may be more coming, on a roll this weekend.
New DC Multiverse Reveals – Black Suit Superman, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter
Never thought about buying an aquaman figure until now
Finally some classic looking (non-Batman) DC characters. About time!
These all look good. That pic of Superman is hilarious.
The articulation set up on these is so much better than Marvel Legends. The joints work, and they don't cut into the sculpt in weird ways like thigh cuts and waist swivels do. Plus, these are larger, and cost $20.
Never thought I'd say that Macfarlane makes good action figures!
Problem is
They lack torso articulation. The ball pegs can't do anything and some figures lack a ball peg in the upper torso.
Those elbows/knees are flush until you bend the knee/elbow and the cuts are atrocious. Marvel Legends typically wins here, especially with some pinless. Though figures with thinner arms on Mcfarlane have a more seamless cut.
I'm not talking about looking realistic but many of the Mcfarlane figures have a huge cavity with their elbow joints.
The diaper Mcfarlane uses has it's pros and cons. At it best it hides the waist swivel, covers up the upper thigh joints, and doesn't impede articulation. At it's worst it does the exact opposite.
Both lines could learn something from the other.
General Zod

That is one sexy Superman.
Loving that Aquaman! Finally some more characters.
Finally more non Batman characters.
Although that is supposed to be Zod? man, looks nothing like him but that's most modern DC these days. Still cool to have Zod.
I would love me a Terrance Stamp General Zod. Maybe with an alternate hand with a finger pointing down.
the texturing on Zod's suit is great, but that's a weirdly uncharismatic headsculpt. looks kind of like late stage My Pillow Guy. reality has set in and the maniacal fervor has been replaced by confused exhaustion.
yeah, Stamp's my Zod too but this is pretty on-model for his recent appearances

besides the bored uncle face. and at least in Suicide Squad he was megafig-huge.
Bored face aside Zod looks great. An alternate rage head with red eyes would be appreciated though.
What is with McFarlane and bored face sculpts for emotional villains?
Have the same problem with Superboy Prime. He looks like he's sitting through a really long homily on a Sunday afternoon instead of being the crazed bastard he is.
I'd pay an extra $5 on these things just to get alternate heads.
Man that zod looks great! Maybe we will get Faora too.

Faora and Ursa and Nom would be great.
Then again, Superman needs some allies to help fight them. Bring on Power Girl, SUpergirl, and Superboy!
All these talk of Zod but this thread made no mention of a Zod figure at all. Am I missing something?!?!
Zod looka decent.

If I had to draw Zod?
All black with a goatee and greasy hair. Maybe a Z which makes no sense that Zod's alien house symbol is a Z.
We didn't get a proper Zod until 2006. Let that sink in. Oh we got numerous iterations of Zod but they weren't a definitive Zod. We've had fake phantom zone Zods, alternate universe, and russian born Zod's. But we didn't get a proper General Zod until 2006.
Even then the consistency was that he had a goatee. He had a new uniform in every new encounter with Superman.
Before the films, Zod was a minor forgettable villain. I'm surprised Donner went with this guy(or maybe that made him easier to use). DC clearly didn't want a definitive one even with the Post Crisis reboot.
New52 had introduced a Zod with a uniform artists have generally stuck to. I think it's clear Man of Steel Zod influenced the new52 design.
So yeah, given the current design. Mcfarlane has made a pretty comic accurate suit.
Though they gave him little hands. I think the small head in relation to the armor is realistic but maybe they should have taken artistic liberty and pumped up the size.
Also I swear the face looks like Dylan McDermott
