Hasbro have updated the Haslab Star Wars Black Series Rancor crowdfund project with the Tier 2 unlocks. If the project hits 13,500 backers the piece will include a set of skulls as seen in the movie along with a diorama backdrop. The project needs 9,000 to fund at the base level and is currently at 5,100 or so. Funding will end on December 7th 2021. Film-Accurate Bone Accessories and World-Building Backdrop
With this unlock, you will expand the galaxy of scene recreation possibilities. Build your very own movie-inspired display with a variety of highly detailed bone accessory pieces inspired by the Rancor’s prey in Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi. This includes the exact type of bones Luke Skywalker used to bring the Rancor to its knees in defeat – a human skull and femur bone. We’ve also included a variety of skulls from different species – a Tauntaun skull, a Gamorrean Guard skull, a human skull, a male Twi’lek skull, and a female Twi’lek skull – as well as several ribcages. When you’re not using these for maximum scene recreation, they can be displayed in a base that resembles the desert soil of Tatooine. You will also receive a Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Rancor dungeon scene-inspired cardboard background that has all your favorite details from that iconic scene, like the Rancor pit door, the trap door, the grating in the ceiling, and even the door Luke attempts to escape through.

Really hope they do at least the handler and dancer as unlock tiers. If they were to include a photo-real slave/Hutt Slayer Leia as a tier, though--that would get a TON of backers alone.
A 6" Rancor Keeper and Oola should be unlockable tiers. The Rancor Keeper would pegwarm big time at retail, and Oola would never get a retail release in this era. So both are obvious extras to include in this set.
But yeah, watch the unlockables instead just be the bone and skull that Luke uses. I'll be equally annoyed if one of the unlockables is just a re-release of a Gamorrean for the Rancor to eat.
My guesses for tier unlocks (no order) would be Malakili, Oola, Luke, and then Giran or another Gamorrean.
a "dirt weathered" repaint of Luke that comes with the bone or skull would probably be the first tier, even though Luke was already released at retail a couple years ago. I'll be really annoyed if one of the tiers is a cheap lazy re-release of the Gamorrean. I'm sure anything 100% new like a Rancor Keeper or Oola would be saved for the final 2 tiers. Oola would drive the backer numbers a bunch. A new improved Slave Leia would be amazing too, but probably unlikely since she had no direct interaction with the Rancor in the film. However, the whole point of Haslab is to do things that could never sell at retail, and there's no way we're ever getting a re-release of Slave Leia at retail.
I backed for two of these... I've been wanting a black series Rancor since I began collecting this line years ago!
Rancor Keeper is automatic... Oola is probably next... then hoping for a pinless Slave Leia with photoreal.
We already have a Jedi Knight Luke and Gamorrean Guards making those as unlocks would be lame
We did get Luke already but it was almost two years ago and a Walmart exclusive that was in my experience pretty scarcely distributed. Galactus including Silver Surfer is a point of reference for the likelihood of Rancor including Luke.
I'd like to see if I can get in on this Rancor. Hopefully. Really have my fingers crossed for Oola though.

Hmmm, definitely going to need to see those stretch goals. Speculation, but the HasLab description seems to hint at or at the very least alludes to both Luke and Oola:
"A ferocious and formidable opponent whose commanding size and brute force strength is enough to rattle even the most powerful Jedi™."
"Do you remember how it felt the first time you saw the trapdoor of Jabba’s palace slide away to reveal the hungry Rancor below, awaiting it’s Twi’lek™ snack?"
Very interested in getting this guy, but it is absolutely going to depend on his paint. That can alter the final appearance so drastically. Grayscale ain’t cutting it for me. For those that backed the other Star Wars HasLab projects, when did they show the paint masters?

That's kind of disappointing but at least it's the first tier. It's not different than the first releases from what I can tell, so at least I can keep that one on card.
Galactus had Nova (a new and wanted character) as first Tier and the Sentinel had Master Mold's head (a wanted variant). I am baffled how the SW team thought rereleasing the guard on a new card was going to be an enticing offer.
I had a feeling they'd do a cheap repack of the Gamorrean as one of the tiers. I bet tier 2 will also be a repack of Jedi Luke with a new bone accessory. Hopefully tier 3 and 4 are the 6" Rancor Keeper and Oola figures that everyone really wants.
I know there's not a lot, but ONE of the tiers needs to be something else for the Rancor. Like a head with the gate spike in it or something. If all 4 tiers are just $20 figures that's very meh on a $350 figure.

this price point is a huge swing by hasbro. I'd love that rancor, but for that kind of monies they better sweet'n the pot and quick. yeesh.
What? This thread had so many better suggestions than a repack Gamorean. Where is the exclusivity in that? It's a $350 dump. I don't want a coin. Let's get a figure that would be too big a risk for the normal line. People ordering this are most likely Star Wars biggest fans so we can handle deep cut. We want it. What a derp move. It makes me want to back this campaign even less now.
