Jumping into our second batch of late 2021 DC Multiverse figures from McFarlane Toys. These are all comic based from modern era books. Non Batman characters get a little more play here with two Lex Luthors from the New 52 era, a standard Hal Jordan Green Lantern and The Main Man Lobo. On the Batman front we have a battle damaged version of the Dark Nights Bats with the axes and the White Knight Batcycle. All of these are out now or shipping soon, so check our sponsors below or your favorite spots. Read on to see some quick thought on each and over 90 HD shots of them in action!

Overall Thoughts
Hal Jordan Vs. Dawnbreaker 2 Pack
Not a bad set, especially for those that don’t already have Dawnbreaker. Hal Jordan is using the Jon Stewart body as a starting point, new head and paint application. The ring constructs are a backpack and boxing glove and work great. Dawnbreaker is a straight repack, no major differences that I saw. To cap it off, it comes with a construct that blends Hal Jordan’s side into an evil side with pegs for the feet. Nice display piece if you want to keep them together.
Power Suit Lex Luthor
YEAH. This is one of my favorite DC characters, and I’m all in for any green/purple deco power suit. They stuck the landing on this one. Promo shots had me iffy, but in hand it was executed well. Great head paint, eyes and face paint are sharp. For this look, pretty much perfection.
Darkseid Lex Luthor
YEAH AGAIN. Right behind a green Power Suit is this Super Suit on my fav Lex looks. I don’t dig the Darkseid head look from the books, but it’s executed well here. Again, works better in person than the promo pics let on. The body uses the Power Suit as a base (or vice versa). I would have preferred a bit more paint, different hues of blue to break up the panels, undersuit and armor, etc. Good thing – the normal Lex head pops right on here, so you can configure him in Super Suit + normal head + throne, which is how he is on my shelves right now!
Lobo
Sonofa Bastich, a Fraggin great fig! I thought Mattel’s BuildAFig was good at the end of their run, but this knocks it out. Taller than normal, great paint on the skin, detailed sculpt, and lots of articulation. Keeper for sure.
Dark Nights Metal Batman (Battle Damage)
Not my favorite sculpt, but he was the closest to a modern standard Batman we’ve had. This one is better – washing/paint on the armor breaks up the grey, and the cuts in the suit have blood applied. A little blood from the mouth too. Cape with the purple interior is a nice touch to Capullo’s run.
Hazmat Batman
Not sure how this got chosen, but it’s cool. Comes from the New52 Justice League Amazo Virus arc. If there weren’t 800 Batman figs in the line so far, it would be super welcome. There is a light up version exclusive to Target, not seen here. I do hope that gets done in future figs, I like the concept (cough, super suit lex, cough).
White Knight Batcycle
McFarlane is not afraid to just pop out vehicles. This is spot on to the books, and White Knight Bats looks great on it. Stinks the set didn’t come with an alternate hand, you’ll need to get the Azrael 2 Pack (not seen here) to get that extra gripping fist for Batman.
Bottom Line
Nice round of figures. I was especially surprised by the Lex figs, they came out great. Lobo is just exactly what it should be. I am generally fine with McFarlane doing what they do, Batman heavy. But if I had a magic wand – these mostly standard non-Batman figures would be my choice. Lex, Lobo, Hal. Modern looks, standard get ups. Let me build out the DCU like this. There are a couple years of figs before you have to go deep roster again, and if you mix in 25-50% of releases with Batman, even more. More modern core DCU please.
Check out our shots below, and stay tuned because we still have a bunch more coming over the next couple weeks!
