DC Multiverse Dark Knight Returns Collect To Build Wave Revealed

Posted on October 9, 2021 at 2:37 pm by Tony_Bacala under DC Toy News

DC Multiverse TDKR BAF

McFarlane Toys have shown off the first shot of an upcoming Collect To Build Wave based around Frank Millar’s The Dark Knight Returns.  Batman, Superman, Robin and The Joker will release with Build-A parts for Batman’s horse!  That’s right, the Build A Fig is a 7 Inch Scale articulated horse.  All of the figures have the bulky and unique style from the books.  No word on price, pre-order live time or release date yet, stay tuned for more.  Check the pic after the break!

Uhhh, is it just me, or does the plain Batman look BIGGER than the armored version we got from the same story?

Very cool they did the horse. That should work well for multiple 7 inch scale figs.

Very nice! Interested in the entire wave. Hope to eventually see variants, mutants, nipples, etc

Oh wow, the horse is a nice surprise. I was kind of thinking along the lines of most people that the build figure would be the mutant leader because there's just not a ton of characters to choose from, but I actually like this better since the mutant leader's not remarkably bigger than Batman.

I just wish it would not be a Target or Walmart exclusive wave. Thisnis the first DC McFarlane figures that I'm interested in

That Joker is terrible, but the Batman isn't bad at all. I've already got this lineup from MAFEX, but I can't find too much to dislike here.

He lost a lot of water using the armor...

Making Batman's horse the BAF is a pretty neat idea. Pretty safe to assume that Robin will come with the horse's body while the head and legs will be split amongst the other three. It'll be hilarious if Joker comes with the horse head.

A Batman in the blue/grey suit from issues #1 and #2 seems inevitable. As does the Mutant Leader. I hope Todd will branch out a bit with DKR and give us figures of Harvey, Gordon, and Yindel. Maybe even some regular Mutant gang members. Although I'm not particularly interested in the Sons of Batman or Green Arrow.

I just want that horse for my Gunslinger Spawn! I’ll probably get all of these figures just to build that horse then sell them off.

Not gonna lie, pretty disappointing reveal imo. Mostly because a LOT of other companies recently did TDKR, and yeah, different price point/different customers I guess, but I wish DC would have its licensees space these drops out more. This wave could’ve come in another year or two, I want to see something fresh and new—maybe some Future State or some JSA, Aquaman... there’s so many DC brands Todd hasn’t even touched yet, but nope... BATMAN.

It’ll be sold out everywhere because of that BAF horse.

Gee what a novel concept shame Todd can't read the room.

ID love to see what Todd could do with John Constantine

The Joker and Supe's heads don't do much for me, easy fixes. Everything else looks great. I've never gotten any of the ToyBiz LotR horses that the Baf reminds me of so I'm excited. Robin looks pretty decent too, better articulation than the crow robins. Looks like Batman and Superman share the body and I'm 100% okay with that too. Batman will probably get 3 or 4 total colorways like the Mezco one and have more accessories than what I expect in the first outing. Well done Todd. BAF HORSE

Man these are ugly. But I guess I can't blame them when they're just being faithful to the overexposed source material!

You think? Looks like theyre probably based on the same bulky body but the molds look specific to each character.

While I'm sure they probably started to sculpt from the same file, there are too much differences between Superman and Batman to do the same body. It's all the wrinkles in Batman's suit.

Really I'd be curious if we will see these again outside variants. You know unmasked Batman is going to happen.

  22. deecee4's Avatar deecee4 says

Blue & yellow is a given...maybe even a variant of that with the exposed kevlar on his chest. A Joker variant is likely too. The colors of his suit are from the chase in the amusement park but the texture on the jacket is the pattern from his suit on the david endocrine show. So easy repaint for mcfarlane.

Looks OK but I'm tired of the same TDK stuff.

Give me Two Face or Green Arrow from it if you want to do something.

And dammit, can we please get some new villains besides JOKER again? Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, etc.

Not really interested with the wave but I had been on about a horse back when the Kickstarter came out, would be great with a future Medieval Spawn. The horse looks very promising. But otherwise, meh pretty much expected (Batman/Superman/Joker), on to the next wave.
