Star Wars Jumbo Kenner Grand Moff Tarkin Revealed – Ent Earth Exclusive

Was this based on a prototype or something? This does not look like Tarkin, nor does it look like an upsized 5 POA retro Tarkin from the board game.
I might be wrong here but I don't believe Kenner made or released a Tarkin figure, so I'm unsure how this is based off said original.
Hasbro did rerelease the original Kenner Star Wars Death Star board game in 2019 with a 3.75 Kenner style Tarkin figure, and this Jumbo figure doesn't even appear to be based off of that.
Still, I love Tarkin and this is pretty awesome.
It's interesting that Gentle Giant is now charting their own course with some of these jumbo retro figures. As another poster mentioned, this isn't based off of the recent Hasbro retro Tarkin (maybe GG didn't want to license the design). And their recently solicited jumbo season 1 Mandalorian also seems to diverge from the Hasbro version (based on a very cursory look). But this guy's right arm really bothers me. It's a noodle. The old Kenner figures, for all their inaccuracies, at least had the suggestion of a skeleton inside. If the arms were bent, they bent at the places most of us have joints. This guy doesn't seem to have an elbow - or maybe his forearm is made of jelly?
My favorite part is how it doesn’t look like Grand Moff Tarkin. Really unique take
Yeah my bad, typo. My intent was
Based on the original Kenner 3.75 inch action figures
Plural, meaning the OG style. Fixed on FP now.
It looks like the late, great Leslie Nielsen.
$80? Even for the retro style the likeness isn't there to command this price tag. At least they can get the hairline right before calling it Tarkin, and what is he holding? I don't recall any past toy or prop resembling this thing.
After glossing over the article I thought I was going crazy too about a vintage Tarkin before checking out the comments lol.
Finally, a huge action figure of Rube from Dead Like Me.
And if it looked a thing like Tarkin, I'd actually buy it...
Even in the toy biz, you just can't fix stupid.
In what universe is this worth $80?? I could buy a NECA Batman Returns 12 inch for that much. These guys are off their rocker.
And if it looked a thing like Tarkin, I'd actually buy it...

I literally said to my wife when I saw this that it looked just like the guy from Criminal Minds Mandy Patinkin. Then I come on here and see I’m not the only one. Amazing.
For me it looks exactly like (old) Henry Winkler!
I'm a huge Cushing/Tarkin fan (the Hot Toys and Retro Collection recent releases filled some big holes in my collection) but this is just awful. The likeness isn't even close and the pose looks like someone stole the rest of his bagpipes.
Yeah I'm guessing they didnt have the likeness rights for some reason. Its almost as if they purposely avoided any semblance to Cushing's features while still trying to make an older male villian character type
