Todd McFarlane shared via a video post the first look at his Batman Year Two figure. This is a Target exclusive due to go up for pre-order during their Fall Geek Out event. The figure will come with a stylized super long cape as seen in the pages of Year Two in a lighter blue and grey suit to match. But that is not all, the set will also have an extra set of arms that can be inserted, batarang, and mini diorama floor with Bruce Wayne’s parent’s graves and cross. There will also be variants with signed and unsigned cards.
No word yet on price but Batman Year Two is listed for September 3rd (tomorrow) on the Target site. Assuming that holds, prepare to grab your orders at 9 AM East, 6 AM West, etc in-between. :)
Update – the figures are live on Target now. The signed version is $79.99, and sold out already. The standard release is $49.99 and is still available. No word on ship date yet.
DC Multiverse Batman Year Two Target Exclusive Revealed

Dig it. Looks like it's using the Batman 1000 base, but I don't mind since it will be displayed in crazy cape mode here. Head sculpt looks great.
I really hope they go this route in future - swappable capes. I'd love to see a uniform system so that multiple sculpted capes can be swapped onto figures, between figures, etc. In addition to softgoods.
I will preface this by saying that I am not a fan of soft goods on 1:12 or smaller action figures.
That cloth cape looks pretty bad coming out of the plastic cowl.
I don't know what is going on here but I like it.
Great stylized look we often see from Batman in the comics. Love the flowing cape.
Todd is starting to look like Peter Cushing these days.

I don't think that's the the 1000 body mold. It looks like just because they are similar looks. But this body seems to have all the sculpting perks we've gotten with later figures.
The legs very much look like Bruce does not skip leg day. The chest is well defined and there are even clothing folds on the pecs. Most importantly the upper torso doesn't have those weird cuts.
I think this is going to be a pretty nice replacement for that body if you want a general batman.
Non easily removable capes has been one of my issues with the line. It's been reduced with the nicer capes(Except the upcoming Superman) but still, a easy swap without a giant gouge would be awesome.
I dislike the Batman focus but the majority of them are done pretty well. This plastic cape makes it just your display piece.
Pleasantly surprised, I was only expecting the previous batman release with accessories from year 2....which I guess is still what this is essentially but, they went further in the other direction with the cape.
That's a awesome Batman.
Anything he produces is garbage.
I like that the 80’s batmen isnt on that fugly oversized torso body.
_______
Now, will the figure be able to pull off this pose:
Pretty cool that Todd gets to make a Batman figure with a Spawn cape.

That being said, looking closer there are a lot of differences like you said so yeah, may just be a full new sculpt. Has the stance of the 1000 on quick glance. Dem legs.
Headsculpt looks like it might work for a Brian Bolland Batman
How many Batman issues did McFarlane actually work on. I don't think its that many. I think he worked at DC then left for Marvel to do Spiderman. He is not as big of a Batman contributor as he would like us all to believe. I think he had a short stint and thats it. Please correct me if I'm wrong. He overvalues his contribution to Batman. He should write and draw an actual story with his own designs.
He did some issues of year 2 taking over for alan Davis ( or vise versa), batman appears (barely) in the Invasion issues he drew and he did the batman/spawn crossover so not much..
This Batman looks dope.
LOL, I find it kind of funny when Todd reminds us just how narcissistic he is, but I guess he wouldn't have gotten where he is without a lot of ego and self-love. The "signed card" and the "based on the art of Todd McFarlane" on top of it being a McFarlane toy is kind of overkill imho, but maybe I'm just being critical.

I wonder if Todd will ever satiate his bat-lust. It would be so rad if this line ever got to a point where we could have a whole wave without Batman. can you imagine?? WOW.
This is what I was hoping McFarlane would do with this line when got the license for it: make DC superheroes based on his own classic comic art. More of this please.
Fabric cape?!? SOLD!!! That other cape just makes it look like a statue.
Here’s hoping he’s got a Superman with a fabric cape along the way
If this has that cloth cape, then I might buy it
1. The cloth cape is terrible
2. It loses the pointy ends on his shoulders
They shouldve used flashpoint batman cape instead as a alternative cape.
I appreciate the effort though but it seems like they just wanted to make a statue.
Looks like I'll be waking up extra early tomorrow. I really do like it overall, but definitely hope some things change with the final version. I'll be buying a custom cloth cape because the one pictured is atrocious. Aside from just being ugly, someone else here pointed out that it doesn't look right where the bottom of the cowl touches it. I am very curious to see the price on these. Love Todd, but dang he sounds like a parrot in that video.
Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what the pricing will be?
I know there's going to be multiple versions but how much do you think he's going to squeeze us for the signed version?
