DC Multiverse Hazmat Batman and Rebirth Superman Revealed

Posted on August 25, 2021 at 2:10 pm by Tony_Bacala under DC Toy News

mcfarlane dcm september

McFarlane Toys have revealed new shots of upcoming DC Multiverse figures previously only known by name.  Batman gets a release in his Hazmat suit from the Amazon Virus comic arc.  Superman gets done up in his Rebirth gear using the Infected Superman body.  This is the buck folks have wanted for Supes since it was released, featuring double elbows and knees and better proportioned sculpt than the wave 1 Action 1000 version.  He however is rocking those blue boots from the start of Rebirth.  Also seen is the Animated Flash from earlier today. Read on to check these out, retail is $19.99 each, and is due to ship in November 2022 2021.

I know we've all wanted a Supes figure using the Bizarro body--but that this just doesn't look right to me (and not just because I'm not a fan of the Rebirth outfit).

Lol we really couldn't get McFarlane to use the bizarro body on the original outfit. Just had to be Rebirth.

Maybe we will get there in 2 years?

It's 'cuz he basically did what all the fan customs did and take the original release Superman head and pop it on that body, but it needed a bigger more proportional head to look good!

Superman is using the Infected Superman/ Bizzaro/ Supeman DM body. There's nothing different it out.
But with those three you will notice the head is massive. The first two figures also had a nice long wide cape as well.

This thing kitbashes Superman Red Son head and cape + AC 1000 hair with the Infected Body mold and I don't think it's working well in the image.

Also I second that the first Rebirth Superman suit really isn't one I like. The second suit was perfection.

It's sorta like Reverse Flash, Mcfarlane do the one people want first, then do runner ups.

Is that a typo or are these figures really slated to be released in over a year from now??

If they want to reuse bodies, why not re-use All For Ones's Platinum Variant body and give us Lex Luthor?

I’ll pass on these. Every release I keep my fingers crossed he’s going to release the next animated Teen Titan. I don’t know why he decided to release another JL Unlimited figure, every one of them are still peg warming at my local target. Now that I think about it, it’s probably because it can be retooled easily. Oh well.

That Superman body looks much better. Head looks slightly better, too, for some reason. That Rebirth suit is not exactly what I had in mind, tho. There’s a specific Rebirth suit I was thinking of, like this in the attachment.

Oh, Flash. Oh no. You deserved better than this, Wally, you really did

After their first animated Batman and Harley were total duds I knew that getting a decent lineup from any of the DCAU Batman shows was out of the question and decided that the founding members from JL/JLU would be getting my shelf space instead. But they seem really determined to make the DCAU figures look particularly messed up. Weird pinched heads and bizarre proportions and inaccurate colors and now they're just putting pictures of the toy onto the cards for the cartoon characters too? You can't even display them together as intended anymore, and I just don't get it

I haven't really read comics since the '90s so my love for these characters comes from their adaptations, yet all the non-comic characters are just a mess. I'm worried how their eventual Keaton Batman or Reeve Superman will look... like, will they put the Returns logo on the '89 suit, or re-use a comic body for Supes? Will their Terry have the Epilogue suit and body but the regular BB head? They're going to give Kilmer a neck joint like Mattel, won't they?

Not sure how feasible it is. Does McFarlane ever swap bodies between lines like that?

I wanted a more Classic Superman light blues, red trunks, S on the Cape....heck even a Silver Age Superboy would be awesome.

I am glad McFarlane is doing more, bu I think we all want classic characters in classic costumes.

The variant for Superman will be the New 52 version.

This is the New 52 suit. I think it will be a variant. All he needs is red boots.

Anyone else take a look at Superman's boots? He has red ankle joints and the red line at the top of his boots is painted on to the shin.

The figure is in Superman's first Rebirth era costume.

New 52 Superman primarily wore an armored looking suit that he got off of Brainiac's ship. The suit has a distinctive collar with a V shaped opening at the throat. After that, New 52 Superman wore blue jeans with various t-shirts that had the S shield on them.

Rebirth Superman has two costumes. Both are more classic looking that the New 52 version.
V1. No trunks, red belt, and blue boots with a red cuff at the top.
V2. No trunks, different red belt with a yellow buckle, and red boots.

Superman returned to a fairly classic looking costume in Action Comics #1000 but the books had dropped the "Rebirth" title by the time it was published.

Probably in the minority here but I honestly wouldn't mind a New 52 Superman. I'm a big fan of that suit.

Thanks for posting this. I don't think he wears the Jeans and T-Shirt for more than two issues from what I can remember, I think it was only in one issue. I would like to see that also, but who knows. You seem to know more than I do which is fine. Version two looks better.

    Superman's proportions look really weird.

Flash isn't thin enough either. His arms look too huge.

Also, why do a Harley from a movie that came out over a year and a half ago and bombed? Hell, I've yet to see them do the likes of Mr Freeze, Clayface, Black Mask, etc. Why not do them instead of another Harley?

  25. IzzyTipsy has no avatar! IzzyTipsy says

    08-26-2021, 07:01 AM

I presume because they advertised that Harley a year ago, and they also expect Harley = $$$

I couldn't care less about the animated ones because I have the far superior DC Direct ones. MAYBE if we got Starfire and Raven and Supergirl I'd go for them.

Seems a bit like a dud wave. Still have piles of The Drowned and Red batman at my Target, and now it seems Chainsaw Wonder Woman and "Damaged" Batman are joining their ranks.
