Talk about your Psalms, talk about John 3:16 – AUSTIN 3:16 SAYS I JUST WHIPPED YOUR ASS!.
Today we are taking a look at a recent drop from Mattel’s WWE Ultimate Edition figures – Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Texas Rattlesnake gets an upgrade from his previous Elite entries with additional articulation and a slew of accessories. For those that follow I am a VERY casual collector of WWE stuff, focusing mainly on the Attitude Era, and besties at that. Stone Cold stuff always gets me though. This Ultimate Edition is an upgrade over the last one I grabbed which was the Defining Moments 6 (see our gallery for that here) so I had to grab him.
He’s out now in certain spots, I grabbed mine at Ringside Collectibles (no sponsor connection) with pre-orders still inbound at others. Make sure to get your POs in because he’s selling out pretty quick.
We’ve run him for a set of pics, basic and fancy, including some comparisons. Read on to check them out along with some additional thoughts!

Oh Hell Yeah! I dig it. So, after getting it in hand, he’s close to the Elite Defining Moments 6. There are some upgrades in the articulation – new torso cut tech, butterfly shoulders, double elbows. Slightly taller. Legs and feet look the same aside from toe cuts. Knee brace and vest are the same. Leg tat is exactly the same. Vest has some new print on it, has the triple skull on the back which is from his early days. In all this setup of gear is from his early run, leading into and right after becoming champion. One brace, early jacket prints, OG shirt, etc. He only has one belt here, which is the Big Eagle circle belt, but on the blue backer. Had to look that up, but that is what his first use of that belt was. The mouth closed head looks to be the same as the Defining Moments one as well, but this time using the TrueFX face printing tech. So at it’s core, this is really an upgraded Defining Moments. The new stuff includes a gold chain, Austin 3:16 shirt, skull hat, WWE mic, 2 extra sets of hands, 2 extra heads. Some of these accessories were released with Elite versions before.
The new heads are great. They capture his likeness in sculpt, and the digi paint is well done. Much better than the default head in both aspects. While the laughing face doesn’t work in most situations, it really captures his “i just ran over your Lincoln with a monster truck and am giggling” face. And makes me giggle every time I look at it. The mouth open face is a bit weird straight on sometimes, but it works well in photography or if you have him posed in attack mode. The 3rd head from Defining Moments – doesn’t quite work again. Eyes are a bit too close and the digi paint goatee kinda bled onto his mouth. I think a new angry head should have been done to replace this, as the other two are really good.
The shirt is good, stretchy so it can get over the head and arms while keeping form. Hard to replicate soft goods at this scale so it does the job, especially at a distance on a shelf. Only problem is that this was usually worn with jeans or jorts. Looks weird with the trunks. Extra hands are nice, but the lack of middle finger options is disappointing. I get the mass retail kids angle, but maybe figure a way to appeal to Attitude Era fans who are now adults and want that edge on their shelf. I guess it’s Photoshop time for pics :)
Overall, as a Stone Cold fan I am happy with the piece. I however wish that this was “more ultimate” for lack of better terms. I get that wasn’t the goal here, to be the complete definitive Stone Cold figure to rule them all, but I would want that, still do. If you combine things seen in previous Elite Stone Cold offerings together, you’d get a lot. Things that would include for me are:
• Heads – New angry, mouth closed head. Some additional expressions like the ones here, since those were great.
• Hands – Fingers. Middle fingers. Come on.
• Hands – Beer grabbing ones, and beers. Both opened/exploding and closed.
• Hands – Stunner grip ones. So that you can have him cupping the head of an opponent while in Stunner drop mode.
• Shirts – A selection of his greatest hits. What? etc. Ref shirt.
• Vests – A selection of his greatest hits.
• Belts – All the others he’s had, Big Eagle on black, Smoking Skull and Winged Eagle. Intercontinental, Tag Team, Million Dollar, why not.
• Knees – Extra brace for later in career.
• Lower Half – A completely detachable lower half under the waist cut. Swap in jeans and jorts lowers. No overlay ones, that never works. Full new lower halves.
• • If that’s done, then go into the camo jacket and hat style stuff like Defining 4.
• Stunner Stands – stands that allow Stone Cold to be mid drop, and a second figure to be neck out, gripped, on his way down, and a third stand for a second fig to be in “pop back up” mode.
In addition to all that, I want an in-scale beer truck with hose, a zamboni, and a monster truck. :)
Plus a catapult beer launcher to put outside the ring along with a case of Steveweisers that I can toss at him. Maybe make the hands and beers magnetic so you can try and get him to catch it.
So yeah, all in all great fig, but I look forward to additional ones, or maybe a Mattel Creations Ultimate Zamboni Edition with all that stuff above :). If you dig Stone Cold and want the best version to date, he’s worthy of a pick up. And that’s the bottom line, because Tony_Bacala said so! (Glass breaks).

Just a coincidence with the crowdfunding hitting peak today, it's a WWE kinda day I guess.

Everything about this figure looks awesome but I couldn't get past the lack of middle fingers. The pointer fingers are just stupid. Austin points at people but that's not the way his hand is positioned when he does it.
Disappointed they couldn't stick the middle finger hands in. Just stick them out of sight, dammit.
So bought!
They need to make an 18+ accessory pack available which has just the shit they couldn't put out at retail for multiple figures all in one box. Do it a once a year to fix the previous year's neuterings.
All in all tho, for this it didn't stop the buy. In future it might.
It must be a WWE kinda day, because this showed up too...

And yes, I'm a hairy MFr.

I have this figure and it's pretty fucking awesome. Aside from the lack of middle fingers it's a perfect representation of the Attitude-Era Austin as far as I'm concerned.

BTW Tony, I've seen reviews where people have jury-rigged his hands so he had the middle fingers. How did you do yours?
And yes, you are a hairy motherfucker, lol.
That was all photoshop. Not super duper difficult, but not super quick either (for me anyway). At least not quick and have it look legit.

Great shots and work as usual Tony. You'd think the Ultimates line would be more for adult and older collectors and would be understood as such. They'd just hide it in the packaging. Price point and considering the wrestler should know its "safe" to put certain accessories in. I have young nephews who love wrestling and few put Stone Cold up there based on age really (they think guys like Roman Reigns are great, smh).
Closing thought, maybe Mattel goofed and swapped hand accessories with Daniel Bryan Ultimate figures.
