A new Avengers limited comic series is coming from Marvel Comics, and they have teamed up with Bandai Spirits (Tamashii Nations) to design the characters. The Tech-On Avengers will blend Marvel’s iconic heroes with tokusatsu-inspired designs done by Bandai. Each of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will receive newly designed armor for the story arc. Japanese manga artist Eiichi Shimizu contributed new character deigns. The comic will be written by Jim Zub, with artwork being done by Jeff “Chamba” Cruz.
The comic series will then give way to new S.H. Figuarts based on the armored up characters. At this time, the “Tech-On” designs are being kept a secret. Look for the action figures to be revealed some time in June. Read on to check out the press release from Marvel.com, as well as a few preview images of the comic.
Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Get a New Power-Up in ‘Tech-On Avengers’
Brand-new Avengers comic series by Jim Zub and Chamba coming this August!
In partnership with BANDAI SPIRITS of Japan, Marvel Comics will release a brand-new Avengers comic series this August: TECH-ON AVENGERS!
This thrilling collaboration will blend classic Marvel storytelling with the innovative creativity of BANDAI SPIRITS resulting in an Avengers saga like never before. Written by Jim Zub (Uncanny Avengers, Champions) and illustrated by Jeff “Chamba” Cruz (Venom: The End, Street Fighter), TECH-ON AVENGERS be a tokusatsu-inspired action-adventure comic series featuring stellar new armor designs for some of Marvel’s most iconic heroes and villains.
When the Red Skull wields a strange new power that strips heroes of their powers and threatens the entire world, the Avengers turn to Tony Stark’s experimental new technology to save us all. Here come the Iron Avengers — TECH ON AVENGERS! Sleek high-tech power suits bristling with energy and amped-up attack power face off against Super Villains enhanced to match. It’s mechs and mayhem in the Marvel Mighty Manner!
“I grew up on a steady stream of Japanese animation and tokusatsu-centric stories, so bringing those same sensibilities to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is an absolute rush,” Zub said. “The team at BANDAI SPIRITS absolutely crushed it on the hero and villain designs and Chamba is the perfect artist to bring this world to life, with dynamic action art that feels like it popped off the screen and on to the printed page. TECH-ON AVENGERS is bombastic and kinetic, bursting with color and energy. I can’t wait for readers and retailers to get on board this wild ride!”
Check out the cover by famous Japanese manga artist Eiichi Shimizu who contributed new character deigns for the series as well some action-packed interior artwork by Chamba right here! And be there when the Avengers suit up on August 11 in TECH-ON AVENGERS #1!
BANDAI SPIRITS will also be releasing a new S.H.Figuarts action figure line in coordination with the series. Stay tuned this June for more details!

Marvel Teams Up with Bandai for New Tech-On Avengers Comic and S.H. Figuarts
Uh... hell yes? Wow.
This came out of nowhere - the guys behind S.H.Figuarts get to design characters for Marvel now? Jesus how far this line has come.
I'm excited to see the figures, that Iron Man design looks pretty badass.
"Sleek high-tech power suits bristling with energy and amped-up attack power face off against Super Villains enhanced to match."
That sounds like Power Rangers. Meh.
First of all, Sentinel's Fighting Armor series is already doing this.
Secondly, "TECH-ON AVENGERS" is a really dumb name for a toy line.
Lastly, I'll reserve further judgement until I see the final products.
With them specifically being Tokusatsu inspired armors, I'd expect they'd be in line with Kamen Rider and Power Rangers, and very different than the Fighting Armor line.
I like the idea, but just from those comic pages it looks like it'll be the standard boring endlessly done characters like Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Cap, and of course Captain Carol shoved in there like anyone actually cares about the character.
Super Sentai teams usually have what - 5 members? So that's probably all five we'll get unless they toss in Black Widow or Spider-Man.
A look at the Cap design.

So the designs look to be that new Ultraman manga style instead of classic Rider style.
Eh, not that impressed with that as that Gridman look is so generic these days. Just looks like another Iron Man armor.
I'm digging the look of the helmet, I'll be interested to see what they do with Hulk, Thor and Black Panther.
So these are the designs I presume. The figures will be revealed next Wednesday.

Out of these I think Spider-Man looks the best. The helmet really does scream "Tokusatsu" to me and its nice how they replicated his web-pattern with armor platting. The weird backpack is kind of cool too.
The rest - huh. Iron Man is Iron Man, can’t go wrong with him, but the design doesn’t wow me. Black Panther is neat; the yellow light underneath the black armor is cool. Wolverine is just weird, can’t say I like Captain America either and Captain Marvel is just meh.

Seems like the ReEdit line and the Fighting Armor line from Sentinel. Is it based off of the same source material?
I'm an absolute sucker for Tokusatsu artistic choices, so I'm all in for a set of these. I'll put them right next to my set of Sentinel Fighting Armor.
I'll admit though: the Sentinel looks better to me even with the fact that all of the figures are built around the same core body.
I assume these will be launching all through 2022, if the first one is coming in December??
All for reimagination keeps things a bit fresh. This doesn't wow me though especially since Setintels came out with similar looking figures years ago and I have a few pieces of theirs since I liked the design and overall build/gimmicks/features etc. SHF's Star Wars movie realization is far more intriguing in my opinion.
But my thoughts/gripes is that this is confirming what I feared and do not like seeing with what directions Bandai are taking/going last 2 years. They're not stepping up their game and seems they're cost cutting and picking the easy profit making routes. I know the Iron Man Hall of Armor route was quite the cash cow for them. Dont get me wrong, these look well executed and I'm sure there are collectors out there that love to add more "armor" pieces for their collection.
R-Type Iron Man??
Next release will be Captain America, May 2022 release, Black Panther will follow.

Cap has a super mode in which he combines with his shield, Black Panther goes "beast mode".
