Pre-orders have been opened by Sideshow Collectibles for a new item in Ray Harryhausen Collection the from X-Plus. The latest addition is probably the most recognizable and iconic monster from Ray Harryhausen’s long career. X-Plus has announced a statue based on the Kraken from Clash of the Titans (1981). In the film, the Kraken is used by Zeus to punish those that defy him. Andromeda, the fiance of Zeus’ his human son Perseus, becomes the target of the Goddess Thetis, who will unleash the Kraken to destroy the kingdom of Joppa if Andromeda is not sacrificed. Perseus sets out on a quest to find a way to defeat the Kraken, and save his future wife.
The statue stands over 13.5″ tall, and measures over 21″ in length. The statue is cast in vinyl and hand-painted. There will be a Standard Version and a Deluxe Version. A diorama base, featuring the chained up Princess Andromeda is included with the Deluxe Version. The Standard Version is priced at $450, while the Deluxe Version is priced at $495. It will be released in the Fourth Quarter of the year. You can pre-order it via Sideshow Collectibles. Check out some new photos after the jump.
Clash of the Titans - The Kraken Statue by X-Plus

This thing looks incredible, but I'm glad it was never one of my favorite Harryhausen designs - the amount of space it'd take up and the price... Yeah, glad to be sitting this one out. 2021 is really ramping up to be a big year for me, collectible-wise.
Never thought of the Kraken as being Harryhausen's most iconic creature myself but, always loved the design.
This is the movie I'm most familiar with as far as Harryhausen goes, this looks incredible!
Not as big a fan as with the other creations. Probably would have been fine with him coming out of the water and losing the tail - but I wouldn't want to deprive the fans of this character a full depiction.
Wonder why the little persons face is blurred out?
