Pre-orders have started to go live for a new 6″ tall Sonic figure from JAKKS Pacific. The upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog Collector Edition 6″ Action Figure is being released to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of SEGA’s iconic mascot. Released in 1991, Sonic The Hedgehog was the shot in the arm that the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive needed. It brought intense speed, great platforming, and a wonderful slate of characters to the system. On top of that Sonic became SEGA’s much needed mascot to compete against Nintendo in the 1990’s.
The new Sonic 6″ Figure is fully articulated. It includes three sets of swap out eyes, three swap out mouth parts, and three sets of interchangeable hands, including one holding a gold ring. A diorama display stand is included as well. The figure has a suggested retail price if $49.99 (some stores have it marked lower). It’s due for release this month. See the new photos after the jump.

Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Collector Edition 6-Inch Action Figure by JAKKS Pacific

This looks pretty good, but I feel like this can't do a running pose at all. I think speed/running when I think Sonic, so swap out legs or something like that would've been great. This is kind of a standing/posing Sonic I guess, so looks good for that.
No running pose, whats the point.
Interesting, I would have preferred maybe a different set of expressions and hands, more in line with some of the animation/sprites you would see of Sonic in the first game. It's nice for the price, but I am content with what versions I have of Sonic in my collection. But have to agree with OriginalFire, I might have been tempted with some running pose/running effect feet...that hasn't really been done yet.
No running pose?
Seriously?
Seriously, they finally do a 6 inch Sonic-related figure but not of Dr. Robotnik?
Disappointed, to be honest, but at least it's a nice Sonic figure.
