NECA Puppet Master 2 Pack Packaging 001

NECA has shared a few in-packaging photos for the upcoming Puppet Master Ultimate 7″ Scale Figure 2-Packs. There will be two different 2-packs available. One includes Blade and Torch, while the second includes Pinhead and Tunneler. Each figure stands about 4.25″ tall, and includes interchangeable parts and weapons. The packaging will be based on the Puppet Case from the films. The figures are listed for release this month. See the new packaging photos after the jump.

“…and now a box of little toys has become a gang of little terrors.” NECA is proud to present the Ultimate Blade & Torch and Pinhead & Tunneler 2 Packs from the cult series, Puppet Master!

Each figure stands approximately 4.25″ tall, representing the classic look of each puppet, with accessories themed to the character’s appearances across several films in the franchise.

Blade includes interchangeable heads and knives, both with clean and bloody variations. Torch features an articulated jaw and can equip a flame effect for his right arm.

Pinhead includes two interchangeable hands, a fire poker, a vial of rejuvenation liquid, a wrench, and hooks. Tunneler is armed with a grease gun and pickaxe, along with interchangeable heads, hands, and an alternative bloody drill top.

Comes in window box packaging replicating Andre Toulon’s Puppet Case.

Really excited for this line, I don't dip much into horror but have always loved this one! I think they all look pretty good, but Blade seems super thin, am I wrong in my memory of him?

Awesome! And thank goodness they chose the best ones and skipped the lame puppets like the jester and leech woman.

    Oh hell yes!

And as much as I love that NECA is doing these, how can they expect me to believe that these are a safer bet then an Ultimate Snake Plissken, or Ultimate MacReady, or Ultimate They Live, or... I can keep going all day.

    I know!

The only thing I can figure is that these films will probably have terrible sequels cranked out every year or two until the end of time, so there will always be a current tie-in.

Blade is definitely on the lean side...with only Jester and Leech Woman being the more petite of the bunch.

What makes Blade look larger is the fact that the puppets used in the films are different depending on which one you are watching. His coat can also be opened or closed depending on the scene.

Previous Blade figures have used cloth goods to replicate the look and bulk him up...but it honestly wouldn't hurt Neca to beef up this one a bit cause he does look a little thin.

Honestly...these would be perfect for their Mego styled line if you asked me. I'm super excited for them though. I hope we see Jester and Leech Woman, as well as Six Shooter and the Totems soon enough!

Awww...I love Jester. Outside of Blade...he was always the creepiest to me.

Leech Woman though....gross. But I guess that's the point...

I've had a really crappy week but this has made me SUPER happy. Neca has been lacking in the Ultimate Horror line, hopefully this is a sign that more will come. Now bring on the Cenobites NECA.

No one can do The Thing right now. Not being licensed for merchandise outside of Blu-Rays and soundtracks. The film rights reverted back to the estate of the writer and they’re not interested in merchandise right now.

Ok ok. Yes, that may be the case, but before the rights to The Thing reverted, didn’t Randy say that license wasn’t bankable enough (or something to that effect)? And what about Escape from New York? They Live?? Point still stands: these seem like a riskier bet then some other well-known properties begging for the Ultimates treatment. Heck, NECA dipped into Candyman and Nightbreed with the retros, but Puppet Master goes straight to Ultimates?! Whatever. I’ll take it! But still doesn’t make sense to me hahaha

And I don’t mean to detail the thread. I’m genuinely excited for these. Always loved the Puppet Master movies. I remember renting them as they were released.

Agreed on Escape from New York. Not sure if they still have the license after doing their Mego figure, but if they could do an Ultimate Snake figure, they could probably do 2 versions of him that would both sell really well... the version from NY and the version from L.A. with the black trenchcoat. They could probably even do the version of him in the brown jacket from when he's first arrested.

I’ve talked to Randy a few times about The Thing over the years. He always said if they could get the license, MacReady was the one figure they would want to do. That, at the time, the license might not be able to support a full line. However they always ran into issues with Universal. They were trying as early as 2014 for a package deal for a number of Universal titles, which I talked to him about when I visited the studio. Every company that tried to do The Thing since Sota has run into one issue or another. It’s been a problematic license.

As for Puppet Master being all plastic, it’s likely because Full Moon has fully cloth replicas of the puppets coming out. While more expensive than the Retro clothed figures would be, they could have seen that as eating into that line. A larger license, like Marvel, is licensed out by price/size, but Full Moon doesn’t have that popularity. It really depends on the deal they struck.

Neca teased a pick axe earlier this month along with a 30. People thought the 30 was for a 30th anniversary and were speculating that it was My Bloody Valentine. However, that film came out in 1981, so that would put it outside the 30th anniversary idea.

Looking around online at old Puppet Master toys, I see that Tunneler originally came with a pick axe. He never used it in any of the movies, but we know Neca likes to pay homage to older toys. Plus, the film came out in 1989, so that would fit in the 30th anniversary window.

The Puppet Master toys are cool (and I'm a big fan of the series), but I'll be disappointed if we don't get a My Bloody Valentine.

I would be all over these if they had cloth goods... but the plastic clothing looks bad.

Still, despite my math skills brain fart, I still think the pick belongs to Tunneler.

It's okay, because for that matter NECA has quite occasionally delivered "anniversary" items late. They revealed their ultimate Leatherface for TCM's 40th in 2014 but he didn't come out until 2015 and more recently the Alien 40th anniversary products didn't actually drop until it had been 2020.

Actually, it's looking like they may not finish the 40th anniversary products until 2021. We're still waiting on that Walmart-exclusive wave with Kane/Ash/Big Chap.
