The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – Leatherface Statue by Kotobukiya

In 1974, Tobe Hooper unleashed a small horror film on an unsuspecting public. The film would go on to become one of the staples of 70’s horror, and created a horror icon. The film, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, followed a group of teens driving through a small town in Texas. There they encounter the Sawyer family, a cannibalistic group that took delight in torturing their victims before devouring them. Among the group was a hulking butcher known as Leatherface, who would create masks from the skin of his victims, and used a chainsaw to terrorize those unfortunate enough to venture near his home. The film would spawn a number of sequels and remakes, but still remains a much loved classic.

Kotobukiya has announced a new Leatherface 1/6 Scale ARTFX Statue. The statue is cast in resin, with additional parts cast in PVC. It stands over 12.5″ tall, on a base modeled after the opening text of the movie. Leatherface has an articulated neck and left arm. This allows for a few different poses, including pulling the starter cord on the chainsaw. The statue is due for release in July in Japan, and August in the US. It will be priced at $179.99. Leatherface from the world renowned horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) joins Kotobukiya’s ARTFX series!

Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) will now be joining the ARTFX statue lineup. We at Kotobukiya have thoroughly researched footage and materials in the film to create this definitive version of Leatherface.

The head and left elbow are movable, and the way the chainsaw is held in the hands can be changed to express the duality of his personality.

You can recreate Leatherface in his eerie, expressionless mask, or even display him as an obedient man who sometimes even looks frightened. By turning the chainsaw in his left hand upside down, you can even recreate the pose in the infamous movie poster.

The mask, which has eyelashes implanted as shown in the movie, is made of soft resin and is ultra-thin and transparent to match the scale of the actual prop. The front and back of the mask are connected using real hand-tied string just like in the film.

The texture of the fresh blood stains on the apron, the dust that reminds fans of the dry Texas air, and the shirts with sebum stains are all perfectly brought to life.

This base comes with a 150mm diameter steel base designed to look like the on-screen text and still photo from the beginning of the movie. The statue can be placed freely on the base with magnets that are inside of the feet.
