Commando Spawn 12-Inch Figure by McFarlane Toys

Posted on February 16, 2021 at 4:37 pm by Joe Moore under Spawn Toy News, Video Game Toy News

McFarlane Commando Spawn 005

A product page has been posted by McFarlane Toys for a new Spawn static figure. They have officially announced their Commando Spawn 12″ Scale Figure (Dark Ages Skin). The figure is based on one of the skins for spawn from the Mortal Kombat 11 video game. The figure is listed as a “static figure” with no mentioned articulation. It includes a gun, a Necroplasm Flame, and a display stand. Price and release date have not been announced. Check out more info below, and the photos after the jump.

Spawn: Commando Spawn (Dark Ages Skin)

Al Simmons, once the U.S. government’s greatest soldier and most effective assassin, was mercilessly executed by his own men. Resurrected from the ashes of his own grave in a flawed agreement with the powers of darkness, Simmons is reborn as a creature from the depths of Hell. A Hellspawn. Now he is thrust into the world of Mortal Kombat, where he will fight for supremacy against all Kombatants.

Product Features:

  • Highly detailed 12” static figure based off the Mortal Kombat Franchise
  • Spawn is featured in his Dark Ages Skin as seen in Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack DLC
  • Includes Spawn Gun, Necroplasm Flame, and a base
  • Figure is showcased in Mortal Kombat themed window box packaging
  • Designed to accentuate all the details in the figure from cape to boot

"The figure a static figure with no mentioned articulation."

Yeah, really, just call it a statue then.

Should have charged $20 more and have articulation.

Classic McFarlane. Didn't he released a Commando Spawn before with almost no articulation and now he's doing it again on a 1/6 scale?

    Hard pass.

Damn. I was hoping for something similar to the MK11 Spawn.

I'm not so sure about giving this guy anymore of my money. The last McFarlane release I got was Red Hood, which looks great but I wish he'd get a better handle on functional articulation.

In this case, he just said "to hell with it"

It is a nice "static figure", still funny how Mcfarlane is avoiding the term "statue".

Aside from the Static / Statue angle - I really dig this version in game and overall, and will be happy when it gets here. My spawn display is all over the place with duplicates galore, so adding another won't be an issue.

I do however, REALLY want this is 7 inch scale, full mega poseability. Even more than the MK11 standard one.

I completely agree. Red Hood looks FANTASTIC. Especially the headsculpt. But the leg articulation on DC Multiverse figures sucks as a whole. Hell, the figures can barely even lift their legs because of the hip articulation. No thigh cut, calf cuts or rocker ankles is stupid. The ankle joint itself is hideous. It is such an obvious afterthought. It's a shame. If these figures were as good as ML or GI Joe Classified (the new articulation benchmark for American figures) I'd be throwing my money at DC Multiverse. As it stands I just get pissed off messing with McFarlane DC Multiverse figures because they could be INCREDIBLE.

Todd has his head up his ass when it comes to modern articulation. He should leave the technical design to his sculptors and focus on promoting the line. I like watching Todd's videos because he's so obviously excited and kind of just dorks out.

Todd really loves that pose, alot like the Kickstarter Spawn. So he went back to his comfort zone...his old ways. Waiting on the standard articulated 7" version or Kickstarter Ultimate version.

That's what he's been doing. Im sure he delegates and signs off on everything but, most likely there's a brand manager and development team working on the sculpts and engineering the articulation.

What's stupid is actually believing that and typing it out. Every single figure has thigh swivels, they have upper ankle swivels which break up the sculpt less and and are more realistic than calf swivels, and they all have ankle rockers and the ability to get more range than any other type of ankle articulation. Between that and thinking McFarlane himself is the one designing the articulation, I high recommend you get a grip and get a clue.

What the f--k are you talking about? firmpulse just made valid points. I own four Batman figures from McFarlane and they have the same problems: Legs don't go all the way up to 90 degrees due to the hip joints, ankle joint suck due to the ratcheting and those knee and elbow joints - good lord they look horrible.

    Staff Edit:
    Skip the insults.
