Mortal Kombat – Kabal Figure Preview by McFarlane Toys

Posted on December 2, 2020 at 3:22 pm by Joe Moore under Video Game Toy News

McFarlane MK Kabal 002

McFarlane Toys has released a few preview photos for their upcoming Mortal Kombat – Kabal 7″ Scale Figure. The figure presents Kabal in his revenant form from Mortal Kombat 11. In the game’s story, Kabal serves under the revenant versions of Liu Kang and Kitana in the Netherrealm. The figure will have about 22 points of articulation, and will include two hook swords. Look for Kabal to hit shelves in Summer 2021. You can see the photos after the jump.

I'm loving this line. I'm also on board with the regular variants. I'm getting a great collection.

Damn. I was hoping he'd skip all the stupid revenants.

I'm not a huge fan of the revenant versions. I might wait for the repaint on this one. It still looks great though.

In general Todd is killing it with this line.

What is a revenant version. I think its really cool after all these years we are finally getting Mortal Kombat action figures. We just need a good TV show now. Too many characters for a movie.

It's just a matter of changing his skin from the revenant grey to his flesh colour. No doubt Todd will give us at least one variant of Kabal so hopefully it's one of his living variants.

Anyway, we're getting Kabal! finally we're getting a Kabal figure. Here's hoping Storm gives us a MK3 Kabal soon too. The only question i now have is who will Kabal be paired with. D’Vorah or Shiva would be awesome.

In MK9's story most of the heroes died near the finale and they were then resurrected by Quan Chi as evil undead minions called revenants. The main visual distinction being that they now had grey, broken skin plus glowy eyes, and most of them got a more sinister wardrobe to match. The revenant condition stuck around through MK11.

The thing that irks me about them doing revenant Kabal is that Liu Kang and Kitana got "living" figures but their default skins in the game are revenants so McFarlane clearly had the prerogative to choose the more recognizable skins, they could've done the same with Kabal and given us one of his past skins that more resembles his typical look.

Don't worry mate come December 2021 there's no doubt we will have Revenant Liu Kang and Kitana as well. Probably a fire God Liu Kang as well. As for Kabal i'm betting we get at least one more variant of him within the year and the smart choice would be a human variant.

Unless you're being sarcastic and I misread, I don't want them to actually do Kitana and Liu Kang as revenants I was just putting them up as examples that they aren't locked to using the character's default skins for the toys. I like the revenant designs for what they are, I just don't want toys of them.
It's not a skin in the game but they could opt to repaint this revenant figure with his "normal" burned flesh tone. Looking at it they could also totally re-use everything but the torso and upper arms on this Kabal figure to make his Underdone skin, which I would absolutely get.

I was being sarcastic but at the same time there's no doubt McFarlane will milk the sculpts. They've got ten possible skins for Kabal using this sculpt. Like you said a few changes and it can become the Underdone skin or any of the ten using the same clothing. While all the figures so far have more or less been repaints (the gamestop Scorpion has a different mask) they've now shown two actual variants of Lui Kang (one with and one without a vest). Hopefully the reveal of the new Lui Kang indicates a willingness to do more than simple repaints. Would be a good excuse to give us better versions of Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

I just want one of my main Jade. But, I sure hope it isn't the one that appears in the story mode. If it is a revenant one, I would like the Eternal Fiend skin:-

Or, if they are going anything, then the UMK3 skin for sure:-
