McFarlane Toys Announces Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra Licenses

THANK. GOD.
I would have bought up those DST figures but they looked how they did... so I never bothered.
The anime face sculpting has been improving (slowly but surely) so I do have high hopes here.
Now just take the LOTR license too
Oh hell yeah! I did get the DST figures and while they're just OKAY, the articulation is not there, especially for figures you're going to possibly want to pose in martial arts stances. I hope my boi Todd comes through on these!
Great news. Can't wait for this one.
Hoping he gets far enough to make Zaheer and Amon.
i guarantee there will be like 20 Batman variations in this line too..
We went so long not having any TLA stuff to suddenly having a bunch of TLA stuff.
Kyoshi would be nice.
I wonder if they'll have a more animated style or go for a realistic take...
Are you interested in the DST Azula at all?

I can’t wait to put Aang and Katara together as a couple and I can’t wait to do the same with Korra and Mako. To be honest I didn’t feel Korra and Asami as a couple, they felt so last minute since they only had chemistry as friends only, they didn’t really like each other the way Korra and Mako did. So when these figs hit I’m buying Korra, Aang, Mako, and Katara.

McFarlane Reveals Avatar the Last Airbender Figures
These seem to have simple(r) articulation, no ball joints at wrists or ankles. Visually that looks good, functionally will be more limited.
Also no word on scale, 6 or 7 inch.
The limited articulation is disappointing, but aesthetically speaking I think these look better than DST's so it'd be an easy choice for me. Maybe the simplicity implies they'll be cheaper/packaged in 2s, especially if they're at accurate heights for 1:12-scale kids. I could see Katara/Sokka, Aang/Zuko, and Appa with an Aang variant; or Aang/Appa and Zuko with an unrevealed Iroh.
I just like that these are all together and from the same season. And an Appa. At least from the jump I know I'll get that.
I may never have cared about the Avatar franchise (other than Zelda Williams playing a character in The Legend of Korra), but these figures look great! ^^
Also no word on scale, 6 or 7 inch.
These might be the same size as those new, smaller scale MHA figures I've been seeing at Walmart which also have reduced articulation but still look pretty accurate.
As an Avatar fan, honestly the compromise feels like a GOOD thing. Comes down to everyone having leg coverings, so plastic would hinder articulation regardless.
Hopefully these means more characters, maybe even a separate line for articulated characters like MHA.
