Photos and info have been released by Good Smile Company for their upcoming Cthulhu Statue, designed by Ryu Oyama. The statue is based on the original sketch of Cthulhu by H.P. Lovecraft. The statue is nearly 14″ tall, with Cthulhu sitting on a monolith, as seen in the Lovecraft sketch. Pre-orders are live from the Good Smile Shop, and will remain open until November 12th. The statue is priced at 128,000 Yen (about $1,212 USD). Check out photos after the jump.
Presenting the second statue in the Cthulhu Original Statue Series “Cthulhu Evolution”. The second statue features the design of sculptor Ryu Oyama as a polystone statue.
Based on a famous sketch left behind by H.P. Lovecraft, Ryu Oyama has completely recreated the Great Old One with a truly profane level of detail, surpassing the limits of the human mind. The statue gives off an atmosphere of magnificence and insanity like never seen before.
The sculpting and paintwork of the master statue were both handled by Ryu Oyama. While the statue features a more muted color palette, the subtle color variation across the figure is worthy of a close look. Be sure to add the Great Old One to your collection.
Ryu Oyama's Cthulhu Statue by Good Smile Company

Saw this while looking through stuff at Wonderfest, even among all that amazing work this one stood out.
I belueve Ryu Oyama is strictly traditional (not 3d software) which makes this one even more amazing to me.
Have another 1 of his simpler works and it never gets put away.
This looks amazing, but - lots of Cthulhu-related statues, not enough figures.
Really hoping someone like Mezco makes an articulated Great Old One someday.

I was disappointed the DST action figure was never released. I thought that looked pretty fantastic.
Mezco made a great 7″ & 18″ King Kong like 2 years ago - that for Cthulhu and I'm a happy camper.
Speaking of which - ain't Mezco gonna have another one of those kinda-sorta conventions next week? And it's spooky season too - come on guys make it happen!
If the license is an issue just make it a Rumble Society release and call him Captain Tentacleface.
beautiful sculpt but an action pose would look great, not that I can pay for this at all.

Woah, 1200 USD for this? Looks like a half eaten fruit or something.
Good god that is creepy!! Well done!
It's a beautiful sculpt, but everything about the post just looks like he's on the toilet to me.
