Mattel has revealed the first product drop for Mattel Creations. The 75 Years of Art of Engineering Series features crystal clear releases of a few iconic Mattel items, allowing you to see what goes into the creation of a collectible. Included are:
Masters of the Universe Origins Skeletor – $50
We take our action figures seriously. With the Art of Engineering Skeletor® figure, we kept the evil and ditched the purple so you can see what makes the Overlord of Evil tick.Barbie – $75
She’s known and loved for her fashion, but even in a bathing suit her silhouette is iconic. With the Art of Engineering Barbie doll, we went back to her original design from 1959 and sculpted her iconic ponytail, side-eye, and classic swimwear. The result is unmistakable and timeless.Hot Wheels Bone Shaker – $75
For the Art of Engineering Collection, we pulled the Bone Shaker® apart and suspended it in acrylic. Now you’ve got a clear look at what makes a legend.Magic 8-Ball – $50
With the Art of Engineering Magic 8 Ball®, we’ve pulled back the curtain on your favorite fortune teller. All of our engineering tricks are out in the open, but will you still find it magical? “As I see it, yes.”
Mattel Creations First Product Drop - The Art of Engineering Series

I'm not seeing what warrants these prices. Am I missing something or are they really just selling transparent versions for 3 times the original price?
Also, on the website they say that the 1982 Skeletor figure was designed with 17 points of articulation. Ha. These origins figures only have 16. Unless a double ball peg neck counts as 2 points.
*Forgot the boot swivels so 18...?
These are actually pretty cool.
I bought one
Over 3 times as much with no paint ops.
Toy companies think collectors are suckers. And they ain't wrong.
Damn, I love a clear figure. It's one of those collector things I have... It's really hard to understand the price point. It's deja vu with those Lords of PowerCon 2020....Idk. Any answers?
Of course I bought, once you go MOTU you don't go....back to the way you were...sane.

I like em!
