Masters of the WWE Universe Wave 4 In-Hand Gallery

x motu wwe 4

Masters of the WWE Universe (MOTWWEU) – the crossover line featuring wrestling superstars in vintage MOTU bodies is back with a 4th wave and no sign of slowing down!  This round again features a mix of legends and current stars – Jake The Snake Roberts, Mr. T, The Fiend and Seth Rollins all get a turn.  Jake The Snake features a battle armor chest plate, his trusty Snake, and removable Jake face revealing a Snake Face homage underneath.  Mr. T homages Jitsu with a golden gauntlet and chest armor, plus one more Fisto gauntlet for the other hand.  The Fiend gets a boss leather jacket and Trap Jaw weapons for his hands.  Lastly Seth Rollins gets Zodak chest armor and a Draego-Man sword.

All in all a great wave.  Mr. T in this style of figure is pure win, it oozes 80s all over the place.  Jake The Snake is also executed perfectly, the hidden Snake Face deco underneath just nails it.  The Fiend pretty much doesn’t need a homage, he belongs in Eternia already.  Seth Rollins is clean and good for the younger generation.  Once again, lots of molding for future MOTU Origins figures are worked in here if they decide to go that deep with it.

We’ve run the wave after the break, check out 30 HD shots courtesy of Mattel!

Another Mattel Crossover. Silly, but fun. Good for the kids, and MOTU customizers

Click the pics below to check each round:

These are amazing! Definitely getting that Warrior. I wish there were more 80s-90s era characters included in the lineup, but there’s no denying how fun this concept is.

Wow! I might just get one to customize into some of the dudes we won't get for MOTU origins. I wonder why I can't see anything in the fourth panel of the lineup, But I hope that john cena looks good, even if they refuse to let us see him.

I've seen these in hand and it's taken every ounce and fiber in me to not dig myself into a new hole and grab em. I picked up Sting for a buddy of mine and he's awesome.

I really cant wait to see where they go with this, and I hope this goes for the long haul. I'm definitely grabbing Macho Man (at Arms) and Scareglow Undertaker when they're released. Hopefully we get Kane (Jitstu's design works perfect for him) Stone Cold (he'd have to be Rattlor, it's too easy) and a Jake the Snake Roberts (King Hiss anyone?)

Some She-Ra styled classics would be most welcome for WWE's ladies as well. The possibilities...

Lol, took a sec for me to get back into WWE think.

Stone Cold Snake theme is must, and must have here.

Bull themed Rock? Or Rokkon/Stonedar play? Hehe.

Damn they're pretty awesome, I'd love the ring but have no space. Might pick up one or two for my work shelf display.

What's the MSRP on these? They're all like $30+ on Amazon.

Figs are 14.99, Ring is 29.99.

However, Walmart's website is showing them all significantly higher right now.

Anywhere else is reselling, including Walmart's site via 3rd party sellers.

Saw the single figures showing up now at Walmart, but they already have the ring with Cena and Triple H on clearance for $20. Kind of an odd choice to clear out the ring before the first wave hit.

I think the upcoming Rock figure is another generic figure inspired off of He-Man. He's got the four way harness, only he carries a club similar to Man At Arms.

Missed opportunity there...he screams Stonedar or Rokkon.

That said...I do hope that Mattel drops a bit more MOTU easter eggs into the designs, because some of them are a bit soft or nonexistent...Finn Balor for example looks cool, and has the Demon King gimmick, but outside of the bulky MOTU frame, I cant for the life of me pinpoint which character in MOTU he is supposed to represent, if any.

They'll get there. I really think this line could work out if Mattel wants it to.

Hard to believe, but going into 2020, there is already an entire generation that has never seen a Stone Cold Steve Austin, Macho Man or Hulk Hogan match, so it only benefits the line to go all in with the current big names (such as Balor, Cena, and the upcoming New Day, and Strowman figures) before going all in with the legends.

I'm like the reverse where I was into it in the late 90's big. I tried to get back into it a few years ago and missed like the entire careers of Cena, Bautista, Orton, etc.

This has been happening since before Christmas as far as I can tell. Walmart site is changing price to match what it sees the figures for on Amazon, but it doesn't seem to be distinguishing between Amazon third party and Amazon proper. It's a pretty shitty business practice, and I'm not sure that anything can be done as it's their prerogative to sell something 100% above MSRP.

Really surprised something like this hasn't been going on for years and years already. MOTU-style wrestling figures was a bit of a sub-genre in the 80s.

Would love a further cross of the brand... Beastman dressed as Kaine, He-Man as the Rock, Skeletor in McMahon's suit, etc. I personally don't care about wrestling as a "sport" but I love looking at the characters this brand of entertainment has produced since the 80's.

And, they are only that price on Amazon because people are buying them at Walmart proper and reselling there. I believe these are Walmart exclusives. Crazy.

I have 4 Walmarts nearby, and these are shelfwarming in a customized display. NO ONE seems interested in them, which is a shame. I know they are the same ones because the boxes have scuffs on them and haven't moved. Mattel really needs to invest in better shipping cardboard. They always have bent cards and damaged boxes.

Anyway... I like it when a toy company does something that is both new and "retro". The MOTU and WWE seem like a natural crossover. Far more than DC/MOTUC. Really hope these are more popular in the heart of the WWE fandom. Would love to see this branding expand into games and apps. Could be really successful.

My "Dream Figure" from this line would be a Man-E-Faces-inspired Mick Foley figure, whose faces would rotate from Cactus Jack, to Dude Love, to Mankind. Seems like a natural fit...

This first wave isn't perfect, but it is really solid, and this line has a ton of potential- Wave 2 already looks even more awesome. I'm figuring/hoping this will be one of those things, as Mattel has done with some other brand-new products before (She-Ra at Target, etc.), and be something that's only Wal-Mart exclusive at first, like maybe for 6 months, and then becomes a general-release item. The line, so far, seems to have a good mix of new and old-school wrestlers, some of them could just be MOTU-ified a little more, but it's a great idea, and the easy-interchangeability of parts is a brilliant idea.

The Man-E-Faces idea is good. I really think they need to push the cross over aspect better. I know what it is, being immersed in the toy collectors culture, but I see a LOT of people pick up a ring or a figure and just look at it like "WTF is this?" It's just wrestlers with weapons. They need to have artwork similar to the Marvel vs Capcom crossover.

Yeah- I think it's an A+ idea; so far, I give the execution a solid B. I think that none of the figures alter the looks of the characters' ring gear enough- they should integrate more of the aesthetics of MOTU in to the designs, not just some gauntlets and weapons. They pretty much look like figures of the wrestlers in MOTU style, but still in their ring gear, with some MOTU-inspired accessories. None of them are wearing the trademark "furry boots" or "furry underwear" that MOTU is known for. The single-pack Triple H should be in a Skeletor-inspired color scheme, complete with a yellow skull on his armor. Sting should have a Scareglow-like cape with collar, in reference to his trenchcoat, and a MOTU-style club weapon inspired by his baseball bat (Not sure what's up with the weird nunchakus). Cena should basically be dressed like He-Man, but in a Cena-inspired color scheme. It looks like they're amping up the MOTU a bit with Wave 2- hopefully that continues.

I knew there was a New Day member in a Man-E-Faces style helmet, but didn't realize it was a 3-in-1 gimmick. Nifty. Good idea. I still want a Mick-E-Faces, though!
