The Umbrella Academy Figures Announced by Boss Fight Studio

Posted on August 5, 2020 at 11:25 am by Joe Moore under General Toy News

Umbrella Academy

A new press release has been shared by Boss Fight Studio. They have acquired the license to Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy TV Series. While no images are available at this time, they have revealed that Klaus, Vanya, Diego, and Cha-Cha will be available in the first assortment. The Second Quarter of 2021 is being targeted for the first wave. Check out the press release below.

Boss Fight Studio Announces The Umbrella Academy Action-Figure Line

Expands their licensed action figure to include The Umbrella Academy toys

Norwood, MA, August 5, 2020—Boss Fight Studio, creator of fan-favorite, highly articulated figures announces their latest action figure line, The Umbrella Academy from television studio Universal Content Productions and brokered by UCP’s licensing agency, Striker Entertainment! With characters based on the wildly popular Netflix show, the action figures will feature Boss Fight’s signature multiple articulation points allowing for creative and imaginative poses.

“The Umbrella Academy has long been one of our favorite shows,” says Catrina Arana, Partner and Art Director at Boss Fight Studio, “we love each character and the uniqueness; I’m excited to bring them to action figure form.”

The first wave of figures will include Klaus, Vanya, Diego, and Cha-Cha and is anticipated to hit shelves in Q2 2021. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Boss Fight Studio” says Curtis Matthews, Licensing Executive at Striker Entertainment LLC. “Their signature high articulation and attention to detail will really bring the character personalities forward. The poses and movement possibilities are exciting.”

Launched in 2013, Boss Fight Studio originally brought their fan favorite Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. IP to market, allowing for easy customization and playability of toys. As the company grew, they’ve expanded to host some exciting licenses bringing that same high articulation and attention to detail to fan-loved brands. Umbrella Academy is the latest brand added to the portfolio.

“We can’t wait to excite new fans with these toys. This is our first license with a contemporary show playing as we design. It will be fun to transform the beloved characters along with the story lines on the show” says Arana. “I’ve already started brainstorming how to bring Season 2 characters to life and I can’t wait.”

I enjoy the show, and have and like a bunch of Boss Fight Studio figures, but not sure I want or need figures from this show. Can't wait to see the end result though, Boss Fight is getting some cool license lately.

Too bad there's no Leo DiCaprio action figures. Because him and a Vanya would make for an insane Inception ACBA shot.

I'm with you there. The show is far superior to the comic, but I feel the comic would make better figures. Though, I imagine they're going to be 1:18, so my interest is non-existent either way. But who knows, their upcoming Luchador series is 1:12, so there is hope.

OMG! I am so glad they are making figures from the show. I love this show a lot. Can not wait for these figures. I hope they end up looking good.

I don't follow the show, and the pictures of the characters certainly don't tug any interest out of me. We'll see what they look like. If they're HACKS compatible, I'm sure I'll need a set, but I kind of hope they're not as I'm not excited by this line (unlike Flash and Zorro).

If Boss Fight is making them, then that means they'll probably be out five years after the show is cancelled.

While I like the show, I would MUCH prefer figures based on their comic looks.

these don't look up to Boss Fight studios usual quality.

The faces lack detail and are cartoony.

And that ankle ball thing is new - and ugly.

Not sure why these figures are different than their HACKS stuff

The ankle ball is a new design that has been used recently for Hero HACKS Zorro and Flash Gordon (and will be on all Hero HACKs figures). It allows both swivel and tilt (male figures used to only have swivel, and female figures only had tilt). It works quite well on the Zorro figure, but I agree it's not hidden as well here. I'm not sure what I think of it yet.

These UA figures also have a new thigh cut, which has not been used on any HACKs. But other than those two things, they are standard HACKs compatibility.

I kind of agree on the faces... they seem a bit strange looking for some reason. Almost like they have been painted in digitally after the photo was taken or something. I'm thinking they will look much better in person... BFS doesn't usually have very good prerelease images.

I think you're exactly right. I noticed it primarily on the Klaus figure - his hand tattoos seem digitally added. And then I started to think the striped shirt and face details did as well. Even the orangey skintone on the siblings seems odd as BFS usually doesn't paint skintone (and hopefully Klaus & Vanya are paler, like their onscreen portrayers).

I'm crossing my fingers as I do love the property. Definitely hoping for a wave 2 with the rest of the main cast S1 siblings - Allison, Luther & Five; as well as a Hazel to pair up with Cha Cha. I'd also be happy to see Ben, Pogo & Grace (Mom).

Hoping they keep people in the S1 looks, though. A 1960's Allison for example would look very weird next to the rest of the team.

    Spot on on all points.

Wouldn't worry about that at all... there will definitely be a white variant.
