MEGALOPOLIS TOYS HAS PARTNERED WITH INTERPLAY ENTERTAINMENT & RARE LTD TO ADD MORE GREAT TITLES TO UPCOMING RETRO ACTION FIGURE LINE
July __, 2020. Megalopolis Toys has added more iconic brands to their upcoming 2021 line of classic/retro action figures; Earthworm Jim and Clay Fighter from Interplay Entertainment; and Battletoads, Banjo Kazooie, Conkers Bad Fur Day and Perfect Dark from Microsoft’s Rare Ltd Studios.
In this relaunch, Megalopolis Toys is developing 6” scale sculpts of characters inspired by classic gaming archives from Interplay Entertainment and Rare Limited in partnership with top industry design talent. The Megalopolis:Premium DNA line will also include figures from Madballs™ and Barnyard Commandos™ both owned by Cloudco Entertainment, which are already in development. Each of the respective toy lines will start accepting pre-orders Q3 and Q4 2020 and will be sold direct-to-consumer through Megalopolis.toys, the Megalopolis Toys mobile app and select specialty retailers Summer 2021.
“We are ecstatic to be adding these incredible properties to our growing catalog. Fans of Battletoads have been asking ‘where are the toys’ for decades, and we are answering that call with an expansive selection of characters and styles that will satiate the appetite of even the most diehard fans.
In addition, our partnership with Interplay is giving us the chance to re-imagine Earthworm Jim as a modernized, highly articulated collector line. This amazing property has been ripe for an updated line for years. We will also now have the chance to bring the full catalog of characters from across the entire Clay Fighter franchise into it’s first ever toy line!”
-Ben Westover, Creative Director/Co-Founder of Megalopolis
“We have sought out cult classic titles for passionate, underserved fan bases to give them the products they’ve wanted for years. When they see the level of detail in the sculpture, paint applications, articulation, and packaging of these figures, as well as the depth of character selection, we know they will be just as thrilled as we are, because we are as big of fans of these properties as anybody! ” – Matt Westover, President/Co-Founder of Megalopolis
“I’m delighted to be tasked with finding these great retro properties and watching them come to life once again as action figures. There will undoubtedly be many delighted fans!” adds Marsha Armitage-Bristow, president of Brand Brilliant Consulting, who brokered the deals.
Megalopolis Announces Battletoads, Clay Fighter, and Earthworm Jim, and More Retro Action Figures
Whoa! Will definitely be interested to see what they do with Earthworm Jim and Battletoads.
LOL Hope these scale well with Storm Collectibles. Would love to see people make Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter vs Bad Mister Frosty!
Clayfighter.... Clayfighter... CLAYFIGHTER! That Bad Mr. Frosty fig is mine!
I have to admit, I have a soft spot for Clayfighter. We'll see if this line shapes up into anything worthwhile.
These Rare properties occupy a very weird and specific part of my heart. I remember going over and over the Nintendo Power with Clay fighter 63 1/3, but Earthworm Jim was one I played the hell out of despite never owning it. Hope Jim pegs into the suit with a ball peg and can be pulled out and plugged into a full worm body.
I remember playing the hell out of Earthworm Jim as a kid. Not so much battletoads because it got insanely difficult instantly.
Damn, no 1/18s. I suppose potentially someone from these lines could scale alright. Like a mutant Peter Puppy or sommat.
EDIT: Oh and the Great Mighty Poo.
For Battletoads I say "bring it on!" They have been on my want list for years; 90's versions of the three toads and the Dark Queen would toadally make me one happy camper.
As for EJ, I remember the old figures being pretty sturdy and well done for the time so I'm curious to see what improvements Megalopolis has in mind.
This really caught my interest
This is fascinating. Has Megalopolis made toys before? What exactly is their role in the process?
I have too many questions right now lol. It seems like the most awesome thing ever to have one of our Mega giant online toy retailers making and selling toys. Am I the only one who thinks this is mind blowing? Are there other cases of this happening?
Professor Monkey for a head and Queen slug for a butt please!

Doesn’t Amok Time Toys do the same thing? Retail plus their own jonks?

I think I found some Star Trek stuff from Amok Toys. It was hard to find a line of something
That’s the name of a Star Trek episode. You’re looking for Monstarz. That’s Amok Time Toys stuff.
