McFarlane Toys rocked it earlier this year with their MK 11 Spawn figure (check our gallery for it here). It was the first modern Spawn in with a full range of articulation, and even though it was based on his appearance in the game, it was very faithful to Spawn’s look from the comics. He came packed with the sword at first, and it sold out quick. A second run was announced that will be the same figure, but feature the mace. That is available for order at our sponsors and spots like Amazon.
Now, thanks to a care package from the McFarlane Toys team that showed up today, a THIRD variant has been revealed – same figure – but with the Axe. All three of these weapons are featured in the game, and one of his grab moves actually has him pulling these from the Necrovoid out of thin air and plowing them into your opponent in succession. So the fact you can now recreate that if you get all three is pretty cool.
The Axe variant will be a Target store exclusive in the US and is due to hit stores in early August. No word yet if/when they will go online for ordering.
We cracked our copy open this morning and ran some quick basic shots to show off the new Axe and compare him with the first release. Read on to check it all out! We will run him for a full gallery early next week, stay tuned!
Update – we’ve updated with a few more shots of AxeSpawn, and color corrected our original shots a tad.
THIRD Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn Variant Revealed – IN HAND

Came in a McFarlane Toys PR box today. Target exclusive third variant. No major changes to figure, but silver paint on chains is slightly brighter on the new one. And axe instead of sword.
Awesome variant! Better than the mace version. Wish McFarlane did a classic Spawn paint app to differentiate this variant more.
I would like all the core body styles from the game, but they all would require new molds I think. Mix up the most popular armor customizations, and then repaint them with colors from game. I'd buy em over and over.
This makes me really want a Soul Caliber 2 repaint of this mold.
A third variant? Oh Todd...you never change...
They really mucked up this figure's release in the first place...and now ANOTHER exclusive. All we need now is a TRU exclusive only to Canada.
Todd...please stop releasing variants to figures we were never able to get in the first place!

No clue if this will sell, only make XXX so we aren't stuck with them for a decade.
Oh snap, sold gangbusters. Sold out. Let's make more. Hey, people wanted the other weapons, and collectors speculated on first, so let's make it slightly different.
Sells well again...
Hey Target, look, these 2 sold gangbusters, and there is demand for a third, we can switch it up with a new weapon so it's exclusive to you, I know you guys like that. You want it? (yes).
Not saying it's that way, or just straight planned for a triple dip from the start, dunno. But I know smaller companies tend to under-produce when there is doubt, especially in current market.
And then there will be an ultimate variant with all three weapons. Man mcfartlame is getting cash grabby.
Hehe, well, I'd be ok with another featuring all, they can use one of these color palettes, add some necro stuff, etc.

.

Then, if they go nuts, can do new molds for each of these types. Mixed with different boot/gauntlet/brooch options from game. And then repaints in diff colors
Yeah I agree with alot of what has been said in previous comments. I had some hopes that Todd would have changed his ways in light of the kickstarter idea, showing he's become more open to changing and adapting his business tactics for the toy business. But I see no change really, I mean really, I have to buy another one just for one different accessory? Not even a repaint?
He seems rather content with the position of his company in the toy world. Using big company tactics (Hasbro/Mattell) and competing and not surpassing in the $20-30 range against NECA. Think we all were hoping he would try to branch, innovate, and grow like Super7 has.
Well crap. I like the axe better than the other weapons. Now I want this version.
I think Soul Calibur 2 and Spawn: Armageddon (game from 2003) really planted this idea that if Spawn is going to have a melee weapon it'll be an axe even though in the comics he really only uses guns and/or his own powers. I mainly wanted this figure for the figure itself so I won't bother picking up a second one just for an axe.
They will probably end up releasing a deluxe with all the weapons with it.
Anthony's Customs has to be pissed at this news. He was all ready to introduce a custom of this same exact axe for sale.
I guess people who already have the first two MK11 Spawns might want it, but this'll cut into his business. Oh, well.
Still waiting on my original pre-order from BBTS and Megalopolis. Have not found these anywhere in Australia at all. One thing that sucks about McFarlane is their product is near impossible to find here in Australia. NECA on the other hand is readily available. Even NECA store exclusives are easy to get from Popcultcha i.e. all their TMNT figures. McFarlane needs to get his international distribution sorted.
Wow, just an axe. McFarlane's getting lazy as f--k.
Another Spawn chase based in a different arm? This is almost funny!
Still prefer the sword one, but this one looks better than the mace one.
So is Anthony a dick?
You know what would have been nice? One version, with all three weapons. I'm so tired of all of these variants, exclusives, convention editions, limited editions and other money grabbing gimmicks.
I canceled my preorder. I ordered the sword and the switched me to the mace and now this? I do't even want this thing anymore.
