In a newsletter update, Chronicle Collectibles has announced that they will be launching a Kickstarter campaign in the near future. The Kickstarter will be for their Jurassic Park and Jurassic World 1/12 Scale Figures. We got a look at the prototypes for those back at Toy Fair 2020. There’s no specific date listed at this time. But they did share a small Q&A. Check that out below, and see a new image of the Raptor “Blue” after the jump. We’ll update with further details as they become available.
Hold on to your butts!
Jurassic World 1:12 articulated figures coming to Kickstarter!
A licensed exploration of scaled, articulated dinosaurs and characters from the Jurassic World Franchise. Subscribe to be the first to know when we launch our Jurassic World 1:12 articulated figures Kickstarter campaign!
Why are these figures going to Kickstarter?
We’re trying something new! Chronicle Collectibles owes our existence to our community of fans and collectors. We haven’t needed to crowdfund a collectible statue, prop replica, or figure before. However, we have big plans for our 1:12 TrueScale line of Jurassic World franchise figures and want to be sure everyone hears about them. So, we’re headed to Kickstarter soon! When will the Kickstarter begin?
As of now, we don’t have a set date, as we are waiting on asset approvals and final prototypes. However, we are hoping to launch this campaign, which is 65 million years in the making, during this summer blockbuster season! What scale and size are these figures?
These figures are 1:12 scale. Our TrueScale Blue Velociraptor stands approximately 6 inches tall and is approximately 12 inches long. What are TrueScale figures?
TrueScale figures are designed to be to as close to their on-screen counterpart in height and proportions as we can make them. Meaning these collectibles are true to the character. Collectors can rest assured that when Dr. Alan Grant is displayed next to Dr. Ian Malcom that our favorite chaotician will indeed be taller. That sounds cool, but what if I want to buy something right now?
We have good news for Jurassic Park and pop culture fans! Chronicle Collectibles has a wide variety of offerings that are available right now on our web store. Take a look to see what is in stock for purchase, or jump in on a pre-order for one of our limited edition collectibles.
Jurassic Park 1/12 Scale Figures Kickstarter Coming From Chronicle Collectibles

That looks incredible.
I can’t fathom the price these will be.
I'm thinking probably close to $300 for Blue and What's His Name if they offer a discounted combo like they are dong for the 1/6 JP. Blue by herself probably close to $250.
The stretch goals will be interesting. The headgear for Blue would make a nice one. A non-articulated Baby Blue would also be a nice stretch goal.
Beasts of the Mesozoic is fine with me.
Little annoyed they're calling it the Jurassic World franchise lol, I'm only interested in Jurassic Park. Hopefully they lead with something I'm interested in. I'm not really a fan of kickstarter for this though.

On the other hand, Chronicle's 1/6 raptor is $450! There's almost nothing that'll make me buy a $150 raptor or whatever they wind up charging for it over Mattel's one.
My price estimates are based on Chronicle's 1/6 scale prices which I feel are higher than they should be compared to other companies. Their Grant figure just doesn't look worth $230 and $450 for the raptor is crazy. So, I expect that their 1:12 stuff to have a premium price as well. I suspect the prices will be too much of a premium for me. Especially given that the Mattel line doesn't look bad and for a fraction of the cost.
The problem with relying on the Mattel's 1/12 "line" is that there's a total of 3 humans shown so far and Nedry isn't even released Malcolm has been by himself for a long while.
My worry would be shelling out hundreds for Chronicle's initial offerings only to find out they'll never do a Hammond or a Sattler, or even Muldoon, and a "cast" will be incomplete.
I only expect to see Owen, Grant and Malcom along with raptor repaints. They may also do the spitter by reusing the raptor body. If so, seems like they'd need to do Nedry in order to get the dino to sell better. But that probably depends on how well the raptors sell.
I'd be very surprised to see any females since it would require a new body. Any secondary characters would probably be exclusives of some sort with an even more premium price tag to cover the lower production number.
