Mezco One12 Superman The Movie 008

Pre-orders are now live for the new Superman The Movie (1978) – One:12 Collective Superman Figure from Mezco Toyz. The 1/12 scale figure features the likeness of the late Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel. It will include a Fortress of solitude light up display base, Kryptonite crystals that light up the base, two head sculpts, multiple interchangeable hands, a Kryptonite necklace, a Kryptonite fragment, and a figure stand. The figure stands at 6.3″ tall, with about 28 points of articulation.

The superman figure is priced at $125. It is a Mezco Exclusive, but will ship worldwide. It is scheduled for release between September and November. Read on for photos and details.

One:12 Collective Superman – 1978 Edition

“You’ll believe a man can fly.”

Based on Richard Donner’s Academy Award nominated film “Superman”, the Man of Steel joins the One:12 Collective.

The One:12 Collective Superman – 1978 Edition is outfitted in his iconic suit from the film, which proudly displays the ‘House of El’ family crest and features a cape with an integrated posing wire. Two head portraits are included depicting Christopher Reeves portrayal of Superman. The Last Son of Krypton comes complete with a Fortress of Solitude base that features a light-up function which can be activated by specific placement of the included Kryptonian crystals, or via an on/off switch.

Superman comes with a range of Kryptonite accessories including a fragment which can be held in his left hand, and a Kryponite pendant with a real chain, as used by Lex Luthor in the film.

Sent to Earth from his dying planet of Krypton, Kal-El is raised by farmers Johnathan and Martha Kent who name him Clark and raise him as their own. Discovering he has extraordinary powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men, Clark soon becomes his adoptive home’s first and greatest hero – Superman.

Pre-order goes up Friday and it is an exclusive so it might go fast.

I'm counting on that it's shipping in a couple months, so hopefully it's not so limited. Also possible it was going to be an SDCC exclusive and was delayed now.

But I'm picking it up either way, just hope the $125 is worth it. That's the same price as Gordon last year with the bat signal.

You're probably right, this is around the time they usually would be announcing SDCC exclusives. Unfortunately you just never know with Mezco exclusives how the experience is going to go. But I wish luck to everyone who is going to buy it! I hear they did some work on their order process to make it more efficient, so we shall see.

I think Mezco would instill more faith in a market for this niche if they had $80-$90 regular versions for online/specialty stores and $125+ exclusives on their site with all the works and extra stuff.

Because they would most likely realize that people aren't going to tolerate the hiking and limited releases forever...

Asking 125 bucks, sight unseen? I know the track record here is good, but for that much money I'd at LEAST wanna see a prototype head or something...

I was a HUGE 1978 Superman movie fan as a kid. I wore out a few VHS tapes of the movie. I used to run around the house with a towel around my neck and my Superman PJs as a toddler. This might be the one piece that could wrestle me out of my toy retirement.

My Neca one is broke, so if this is good, it'd make a good replacement.

Well they'll always put the actual photos up at the preorder, but yeah a day or two to look and examine would be nice.

Sorry, but these One:12 figures are overpriced crap. They're basically 6" Barbie dolls with a little more articulation and real-life doll clothes.

Different strokes for different folks. I love my Neca one, but unfortunately it's had a broken leg since day 1, and Neca couldn't do anything for it.

Well, that's totally your opinion. A lot of people like the One:12 figures.
Your Barbie clothes comment is literally one of the funniest things I've read in a TOY FORUM. All action figures are technically dolls, regardless of whether or not they have cloth clothes. Using that against them is legitimately laughable. But ok. Man, sometimes I miss not spending more time here.

Seconded! Heck, given Mezco's past history with Superman figures, there's a good chance yours will end up being better than whatever they make!

Just noticed this has a 6 per person limit so most likely the quantity will be there for people. They've been reducing their more limited runs to only 2 per person. This will probably end up on BBTS with a slight price mark up as well.

Trunks better be a separate piece and not just stitched in like Aquaman or rubberised like Classic Superman...
