MAFEX The Mandalorian (Beskar Armor) and The Child Photos and Details

MAFEX Mandalorian Beskar Armor 009

This one slipped by us earlier in the week, but we wanted to share the news. Medicom has added their product page for the upcoming MAFEX The Mandalorian (Beskar Armor) and The Child 6″ Scale Figures. The Mandalorian figure stands at 6.3″ tall, and features the chrome colored Beskar Steel armor the he acquires late in Season 1 of the hit show. It will include a scaled version of The Child (aka Baby Yoda), a fabric cloak, multiple interchangeable hands, a pistol, a flame thrower effects pieces, a whistling bird effect, a knife, an Amban Rifle, and an articulated figure stand.

The MAFEX Mandalorian Figure is priced at 8,800 Yen (about $82 USD). The figure is set for release this December. You can check out the official photos by reading on.

This was really shocking to see, but really glad that Mafex is still going to hit Star Wars. I always kind of wondered if their license was different or something since they didn't really do a lot of OT stuff but did more ST stuff and didn't work out for them.

Glad they're going back to this, it looks good. I'm still getting the SHF since both figures there is a more complete package, but this doesn't look bad. I'll probably get it too and compare.

Looks great. I wish they would have another go at the stormtrooper.

Medicom has been churning out so much cool stuff lately. Makes me feel nostalgic for the time when they were heavy in the 1/6 game.

Interesting. I wouldn't be opposed to getting this even though I have the SHF on pre-order.

I need better pictures first though, because I can't tell if the armor flaps on his hips and the gun holster are hinged or not.

the helmet looks bigger, which is good. like theres a real human head underneath.

the mafex fett was a work of art, that i sold because it was too good for my collection. And didnt really fit with other mafex star wars stuff or any other star wars stuff for that matter

Their TESB/ROTJ Boba Fetts are still the best 1/12 renditions money can buy. Can't see how their Mandalorian won't be just as good, dig the cloth cape.

I don't have either, but am curious as to why you prefer the SHF. The Mafex Boba Fetts (both ESB and ROTJ) go for like $250-$300 on the secondary market now. I always hear people say that they are by far the best Boba Fetts in the 1:12 scale. I recall a lot of people being disappointed with the SHF. You're the first person I've seen who's said the opposite.

I have both Fetts as well. As far as looks, Mafex hands down, no contest. However, the tube on his arm compromises posebility and it feels pretty delicate overall. So much so that I just keep him in a vanilla pose. Ive had issues with other Mafex figures where-straight out of the box-stuff just falls off and limbs go limp and I don't want to risk it with Fett.
The SHF on the other hand, I have no problem handling and putting into poses and stuff. I'd say that for all of my SHF figures actually.
Btw, didn't realize he was going for that much, might look into that...

I don't have a MAFEX or a FiguArts Boba Fett, but the FiguArts one comes with the jetpack so right now I'm more interested in that one.

Lol i didnt realize either, I'm totally looking into that now XD Thought about selling it as soon as I got the SHF. It was a placeholder till SHF finally did theirs.

Definitely right on about the posing differences. The SHF is slightly smaller too. I think that helps it balance and get into more poses than the Mafex. It feels more solid somehow.
I think the paint job is cooler on the SHF too. It's a little more "toy-etic" as we all call it now. It pops. The Mafex feels a bit dull. Maybe that's more movie accurate?
The cape part was a big deal to me. The Mafex cape feels a little weak and has an issue with the plastic curling. It hurts the illusion. The SHF cape stays solid, feels solid, and looks more convincing overall.

Those are the things off the top of my head. If I compared them together there would be some more things. I remember thinking SHF fixed all the problems I had with the Mafex. The Mafex is by nooooo means bad. It's probably why I haven't sold it. I'm still clinging to it! I usually dump redundancies fast to get more fig cash. Testament to it's quality I guess.

New scans have popped up. Pre-orders can't be too far away now.

I'm still interested in getting this alongside the SHF, but I do need to see at least one picture were his stance is a bit wider. If his hip armor pieces and the blaster holster aren’t hinged this whole operation falls apart very quickly for me.

Official pictures are here! Sadly low-res as I can’t find an Amazon Japan listing right now.

It looks like the best version of the character in this scale. Sadly the hip armor pieces and the holster don't seem to be hinged so the Figuarts wins in articulation which is more important to me.

But this looks fantastic and I adore the show, so I’ll get it regardless.

Release will be December 2020, price is ¥8,800.

They also deleted this off of their own page weirdly enough. It was there with the last couple of figures, then was gone, and is now up again. The link I posted wasn’t working during that time either.

Guess they jumped the gun a bit. Wouldn't be surprised to see pre-orders soon then.

It'll probably go up there, but for $25-30ish more. HLJ is pretty easy to order from if you haven't imported before.

SO right now I have Mafex War Machine in my POL with them, as well as Mafex Cyclops. The usual cheap shipping through JapanPost has been put on hold because of the pandemic, but you can still request shipping through FedEx Air, which arrives in 6-8 days. The cost for one is around $27. Cheap 6 week JapanPost shipping is usually around $17, which should be back (hopefully) by the end of the year. The good part about FedEx air though is it doesn't change much if you POL, so you pay that $27 and you can get multiple items added, and fast shipping.

Excellent, looks like a properly proportioned human is underneath that armour, just like Medicom's awesome Boba Fett - easy purchase.
