A figure I’ve been waiting for years to get a hold of is finally in-hand! That being – a modern, articulated, bad ass representation of SPAWN. To celebrate the arrival of Spawn to the Mortal Kombat universe this weekend at the eSports tournament Final Kombat – McFarlane Toys have made a version of Spawn in figure form. They are also doing the mainline Mortal Kombat 11 collector figures so he’s technically the MK11 version of him. All in all though, it’s a pretty faithful representation of modern SPAWN so he can easily slide into your collection regardless of your MK11 interest.
Of note – Todd McFarlane will be at Final Kombat this weekend for the official drop of Spawn in the game.
That’s not all folks! Todd McFarlane (who recently broke the Guinness World Record with SPAWN for the “longest-running creator-owned superhero comic book series”) has been invited as a special guest to attend Final Kombat 2020, the championship finale of the Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition esports series. This is where the top Mortal Kombat 11 players from around the world will compete on March 8 at Chicago’s historic Park West Theater for their share of the $100,000 prize pool.
The Final Kombat event programming will feature an exclusive first look of the Mortal Kombat 11 Official SPAWN Gameplay Trailer and an appearance by actor Keith David, who is the voice of Spawn in Mortal Kombat 11.
At Final Kombat, fans will have the opportunity to order the McFarlane Toys SPAWN Mortal Kombat Action Figure, as well as have their favorite figures and comics signed at a FREE-FAN SIGNING! There will also be a SPAWN themed photo-booth for fans to take pictures commemorating their on-site experience.
Final Kombat will be livestreamed globally across all Mortal Kombat 11 channels, including Twitch (NetherRealm), YouTube (Mortal Kombat), Mixer (NetherRealm), Twitter (@MortalKombat), Facebook (@MortalKombat) and Steam (Mortal Kombat 11).
As a special treat, Spawn will be available early exclusively at Walmart on March 8th. McFarlane Toys even shared a list of the stores that will be carrying it here. He’ll be available everywhere else on March 13th.
We’ve run him and all 6 other Mortal Kombat 11 figures including the recently released Raiden and Johnny Cage from McFarlane Toys through a big gallery session after the break. Read on to check it all out, including some additional thoughts on SPAWN!

Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn McFarlane Toys Action Figure – Overall Thoughts
YES. Finally. Articulated Spawn. There was one back in the day, the 10th Anniversary edition, but he got pricey on the aftermarket big time. Now we have a modern, attainable version. The figure uses a modern look, featuring primarily black with the chest logo, no red blocking on the “suit”. 22 points of articulation are present including double jointed elbows and knees, butterfly shoulders, bicep swivel, wrist and ankle ball joints, toe cuts, ab cut, waist swivel, full hips. Range is good, more than we’ve ever had on a Spawn in recent times, but not 100 percent perfect.
Todd McFarlane has always drawn Spawn dynamic, with almost Spider-Man level bendatude. We can’t quite get there with this. It’s very much in line with existing Mortal Kombat figures tech. There are no upper thigh swivels. There are no boot or ankle swivels. So if you want him crouched on a rooftop looking over the city – not happening. He’ll have that weird outward knee thing going on. Other than that though, it’s pretty much on point. A tad more in the chest/waist to truly hunch over and look down while crouching would be nice. But hey, I’ll take what I can get, we are talking about an articulated Spawn figure here!
The cape is molded, straight down in a resting position. Capes have no perfect answer. I do prefer non-fabric capes, but in this case a little more dynamic sculpting would be nice. Really, in a mega perfect world, I’d love a figure like this with like 5 different molded capes you can pop on. Best of both worlds while keeping away from the fabric and wires. One can dream.
All in all, epic. Love it. With their tease at Toy Fair about a Kickstarter for an updated articulated Spawn (see here for details) this gets the juices flowing. This is a great start, and if they listen to fans and go super epic level with that relaunch figure, we could be in store for some great SPAWN in the coming months.

Additional McFarlane Toys Mortal Kombat 11 Figures
Check out the rest of the McFarlane Toys Mortal Kombat 11 figures as of this story. Included are Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Variant Scorpion and Variant Sub-Zero. All are 7 Inch scale, featuring their MK 11 look, and have a full range of articulation points. Sculpt is the primary focus here, so even though the full range is present, sometimes posing is limited. It’s light years beyond where McFarlane was just a couple years ago though. Colors and paint are top notch, especially on Raiden and Variant Scorpion. Johnny Cage’s action figure is pure awesome.
Note: McFarlane Toys provided these figures for review, but nothing would have kept that Spawn figure out of my hands!
