McFarlane Toys continues their gaming agenda with the first figures for Cyberpunk 2077 from CDProjektRed. The game lit up fans last year when none other than Keanu Reeves was revealed in the trailer to be a key part of the game, playing Johnny Silverhand. Today we are taking a look at the first 3 figures – Keanu’s Silverhand in 12 inch and 7 inch scales, plus V, the main character, in 7 inch scale.
Read on to check out some quick thoughts on them all along with basic and fancy shots to show what they can do!
12 Inch Johnny Silverhand
This is a larger, less articulated figure reminicent of the way McFarlane has been doing things until recently. Almost no articulation, with one slightly moveable arm and partial neck spin. The articulation is purposely reduced to allow for sculpt and paint to take the stage, it’s a budget statue for all intents and purposes. That being said, it does capture the Keanu likeness well and is pretty bad ass as a single display piece, a dude rocking out with a robot arm shredding. If you dig the game, Keanu or just the vibe, it’s a solid piece for that.
7 Inch Johnny Silverhand and V
These are done in more recent McFarlane Toys style. New articulation styles are in play with double knees and elbows, butterfly shoulders, torso cuts, rocker ankles, toe joints, ball joint wrists. Johnny’s robo arm is only a single joint, but does have wrist movement and a second hand. Sculpt sometimes limits poseability, but they are not statuesque at all. Paint is well done throughout on both, with fine details like tattoos and print on the jacket visible. Accessories are solid, with two guns and a sword for V, while Johnny gets his guitar, strap and a bottle of liquor. Glasses are not removable on Silverhand, he’s too cool to take em off. :)
Overall Thoughts
I think they are solid entries, and the game looks great. There just isn’t a ton on the game out there so far to be able to bond with the characters yet. Assuming the game is bad ass, these will be great ways to represent it after the drop. I would have liked V to have a haircut more similar to the cinematic trailer, but this style is present in the gameplay trailer.
