Marvel Comics – Thanos One:12 Collective Figure by Mezco Toyz
---------------
$155 ships Aug-Oct 2020
I think he looks good but $155 is steep. I don't quite love the leather suit either where it bunches up. I'll probably wait on this one.
This actually looks better than the teaser image from earlier in the week. I'll probably skip it, but this actually turned out pretty cool.
I don't collect One:12 and although Thanos is my dude, the Wal-mart exclusive Legends figure and the Marvel Select comic Thanos from 2018 make this figure null and void to me. Something about it is just off.
I think it looks a off. The suit and shoulder armor look ill fitting. His gauntlets and boots appear too bulky and make him seem stubby. In addition, the infinity gauntlet barely even has a wrist. I'm disappointed.
This looks cool. I tried years ago to get into this line with TDKR set and Superman, but it didn't take. Not sure if it was me or them.
He...looks like an ape, for some reason. Weird. Impressive overall, but...that weird ape thing. I dunno. Plus, $155 is STEEP for a 6-inch scale figure.
It looks like they're using the Ragnarok Hulk body, or a derivative of that based on the proportion and articulation range. Smart move for production, but the thickness of the armor does make it look a bit too stout and that he's hiding under the armor.
I really, really like the faces though. If they come out this well in production as in the photos I'll be impressed. I think it's the shiny teeth lol.
No way I'm going to preorder, the price is too much anyway, but maybe if it gets some good discounts like Darkseid.
Yup, face is definitely too simian-like, the Infinity Gauntlet looks like it's made for a baby's chubby hand and wrist, and the shoulder banana is riding way too high up on the body.
Everyone keeps saying this is off. I feel that way about a lot of them. While I think it's pretty clear who is who there appears to be some type of artistic/stylistic choice that, in my opinion (others as well apparently), makes most of these, as we all say, "off."
I don't care for the body suit color either. I know that Mezco will make a comic color accurate version (ie a PX Exclusive). That will probably tack on another 10 bucks.
I hate that I have such negative feelings about it. Thanos has been my favorite Marvel Villain since he popped back up in Silver Surfer volume 2 when I was in my early teens. The Walmart exclusive ML figure is (for the most part) perfect imo. I was hoping to like the Mezco version. Bummer.
Yeah, I concur that the Walmart-exclusive Marvel Legends Thanos is pretty much perfect, especially with the "maniac grinning face" alternate head.
I think they took some sacrifices for articulation. His shoulder pads definitely need to be that high, else the arms wouldnt be moving at all. The baggy suit is an intetesting design choice. We will probably get a more classic looking one anyway, with a skintight blue suit ar some point. I dont see them making this sculpt a one and done.
As for the price, its cheaper than Darkseid but still a lot. I have to deliberate hard on this one.
My main immediate issue with this Mezco Thanos is that he's giving me some major halloween costume vibes. Like it's just some guy wearing a foam muscle suit with plastic bits and a mask. I actually like the sculpt and detail on the heads well enough on their own but overall it doesn't work for me.
One thing to keep in mind is that Mezco has been really good about modifying prototypes based on overwhelming fan feedback, so I think a lot of the issues will (hopefully) be addressed between now and production. They already adjusted the head from the original version they showed, which was a little weird since it only happened a few days ago.
Helmet is too round to the point that his horned "crown" is barely recognizable. Also not digging the baggy cloth suit especially since you don't see Thanos often sporting that kind of look. Then there's the collar armor which is way too chunky so it ends up looking like an oversized neck brace. I have to agree with everyone else about the Walmart Marvel Legends looking better in every way.
I think the shoulder pads are a little too bulky. The costume does look a little baggy but, that’s done to allow for poseability. Usually once you get the figure in hand and start posing him it doesn’t look as baggy as the promo pics. The head sculpts look amazing. The light up features look great, especially on the Infinity Gauntlet. The accessories seem adequate. Anytime you spend over $100 for a figure the expectations go up. There might be a variant coming out but, so far Mezco hasn’t done that with other large figures they’ve released like the Hulk. If Mezco were to reduce the bulk of the shoulder pads I think Thanos would look a lot better. That said, I like the figure overall and I do plan on picking him up. I think he’ll look awesome standing next to my One:12 Darkseid.
If Mezco just went for the brighter shade of blue at least, I may consider buying this.
My only complaint about this is the huge shoulder pads. Looking at the pics it looks like a separate piece. If so, I plan on posing him without it.
