Dragon Ball catch up week continues today here at Toyark with a set for Demon King Piccolo! This is from the Dragon Ball original series sub line of the S.H. Figuarts series. This sub line features figures out of scale from the traditional S.H.F. DB line, slightly bigger. Demon King Piccolo was larger than Piccolo is in Dragonball Z, but combined with the slightly larger scale of these figures and he is a massive piece. He is taller than Broly Base Form, roughly the size of Super Buu. It’s well executed – good articulation, big bulky frame, sharp details in the faces, good anime specific accessories. Colors pop and paint is applied well throughout.
He does what he’s supposed to do, but as with all the standard Dragon Ball era figures – doesn’t get me hyped. I started in Z and have yet to fully run the original series, only catching clips and synopsis, backstory in the video games etc. I appreciate S.H. Figuarts touching all the eras, but I’d be happy with a draw back to 1 a year or so.
We’ve run Demon King Piccolo through the motions – check out some shots after the break courtesy of Bluefin Brands!
