When Scream Factory announced their Night Of The Demons – Deluxe Limited Edition Steelbook in 2018, they revealed that they worked with NECA to create an exclusive figure on Angela, one of the central characters of the film. After the success of that release, Scream Factory teamed up with NECA again to create a new limited edition release from the movie. The Night of the Demons 2-Pack features 8″ scale clothed figures of Suzanne, aka Suzy and Stooge. In the movie, ten teenagers throw a Halloween party at an abandoned funeral parlor. The teens perform a seance that awakens demonic forces, which begins taking them over one-by-one. It’s not one of my personal favorites, but the film definitely has a following.
The Night of the Demons 2-Pack is available now. It’s priced at $79.99 and can be ordered exclusively from Shout Factory. Our friends at NECA have sent the set over. After the jump ,you can check out my thoughts on the set, as well as a full hi-res photo gallery.
Night of the Demons Suzy and Stooge 2-Pack by NECA Toys
Pros
- Strong head sculpts on both figures
- Excellent paint work on figures and clothing
- Stooge seems to be using the 3.0 body with more articulation
- Nice attention to details on the outfits, especially Stooge
Cons
- Suzy’s hips and feet cause trouble standing
Overall
The 2-pack comes in a collector friendly window box. The box features great artwork based on the movie, and the back showcases the figures and accessories. The figures sit in a plastic tray and can be placed back in for easy storage. Stooge includes a removable pig nose accessory. Suzy includes lipstick, and two swap out portraits.
The general presentation of the figures is outstanding, and this set works as a nice display in or out of the box. The figures use the cloth figure format to the fullest here, with some of the most detailed work NECA has done on the outfits. Suzy’s dress is appropriately frilly and poofy, and even has a lace slip underneath . The figure even rocks some ankle warmers straight out of the 80’s. Stooge’s clothing is even more impressive. Thinner material was used on the shirt and undershirt so that it didn’t feel too baggy. His shirts are blood stained, and even have decals on the front and back. His pants are stained with paint as well. There’s no question that the best part of this set are the head sculpts. They are extremely detailed, and quite realistic for the size. There’s some great texture work on the hair of both characters, as well as the pockmarks all over Stooge’s face. They even pulled off his double chin fairly well. The quality of the paint helps those sculpted details to stand out. The paint lines are crisp between different areas. The demonic puke on Suzy’s face, and the blood dripping from Stooge’s mouth look appropriately gross.
Only a few accessories are included, and not much else was needed. Stooge includes a removable pig nose, which sits surprisingly well on his face. Suzy has a lipstick tube, which she can hold with no problems in her right hand. She also includes two different portraits. Those swap out with no trouble. Stooge, I’m guessing, is using the new 3.0 body style that was also used on the Sloth from the Goonies Set. There are double jointed elbows and ankle rockers, among other improvements. Stooge really becomes one of the better overall retro clothed figures NECA has done. Suzy doesn’t fair quite as well, as there’s not as much articulation in her body style. The hip design only really allows for lateral movement, with no front or back movement possible. And the thin feet use a softer material, making it hard to keep her standing for long. Definitely have stand ready for her if you plan on displaying the set loose.
This set is really for hardcore horror fans looking for deep roster horror characters to add to their shelves. For those that do pick it up, it’s a pretty solid set of figures. They look fantastic on display, and should work well with the Angela figure released a couple years ago. Check out a selection of images below, and the full gallery after that.
